Here's Episode 4 in a nutshell...
And the best part? She does it all without any of the other heroes figuring out she was behind the Black Knight's creation.
And everyone ends up absolutely adoring her. Especially Bentley. He's gonna be so proud of her... The reason? She started this adventure not even wanting to go. To see her going this hard is damn impressive.
Writing this episode is going to be so much fun...
For extra fun, imagine this playing during the second phase of Raleigh's boss fight.
And this for the second phase against Robo-Penelope.
I did another thing.
That one meme, but with a wholesome twist.
Basically it's Penelope's character arc, but super abridged.
Another thing I like in Sly Cooper is how each game opens with the Cooper Gang having a conversation before a big heist– but the conversations are all very different because the characters are Growing Up™.
Like– in the opening Paris heist, Sly 1 Bentley is anxioUSLY SCREAMING about how nervous he is. But in the beginning of the Cooper Vault heist, Sly 3 Bentley is confidently and excitedly telling Sly that they’re going to pull off the Crime of the Century.
Sly 1 Murray is waiting in the van, Sly 3 Murray is “PUMPED” and ready to go out into the field.
Sly 2 Sly rolls his eyes at Bentley and makes fun of his dorky attempts to use code-names….. Sly 3 Sly is TOTALLY on board with Bentley’ dorky code-names and takes them very seriously, because he’s grown to respect Bentley so much more over the events of the previous games.
It’s just really sweet! The little thief children are growing up…..
Honestly speaking, rewriting a story as janked up as Thieves In Time is anything but easy.
For those of you who have liked my little behind the scenes blog, thank you. I really hope I can do these characters justice, because Sanzaru sure didn't.
Here's how I've been dividing my time so far...
Intro Cutscene: %100 finished
Sly: %97 finished
Bentley: %47 finished
Penelope: %64 finished
Murray: %25 finished
Final (running into Carmelita): %35 finished
The hardest parts are overhauling Bentley's segment and writing an entirely new segment for Penelope.
I'm also pretty bad at writing action and fight scenes right now. Murray might have to wait a while.
And in hindsight, so will the part where our four heroes floor it into a time portal.
That means I'm roughly %61 done with the tutorial. Give or take a few points.
Update of my Sly Cooper shipping chart now that 2019 is on the verge of ending!
There's a little change, and I fitted all thd lines in this time instead of making all the shipping tallies last filled.
So if you're confused as to who goes to who, all the lines match up to the tallies on the right.
Also I find that some of my ships have changed while some remain. This chart below was my earlier shipping chart:
Other than Penelope, our other heroes go through their own personal character arcs as well.
Sly learns that maybe ditching his friends on Kaine Island wasn't the best idea.
Bentley becomes less overprotective and more supportive towards Penelope. He'd be humbled after she saves him multiple times over the course of the story.
Murray doesn't go through much of an arc. He spends much of the story being a good older brother towards our heroine, and making her look good. If anything, he shows he can step back and let others take his spotlight.
As for Penelope, our main protagonist... She realizes what's truly important to her: Her friends.
I'm not touching whatever Sly and Carmelita are doing. Not here. Their fighting actually gets worse until Episode 5, when they realize they've been acting like children.
Isn't this so much better than whatever happened in vanilla?
More humanized Bentley&Penelope fluff
I LOVE the way the sword pose came out. I don’t even care that I forgot to add glasses to it! XD
Penelope in a Black Baron-ish outfit
More Sly Cooper doodles I forgot to post...
Neyla, Carmelita & Penelope Inked sketches. Lol these are pretty old too. (2019)
