PICTURED : girl who is flustered that people not only want to date her, but KISS her.
#𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐁𝐔𝐆 is a new independent, selective, mutuals-only, series-based roleplay blog for Marinette Dupain-Cheng, aka 𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐘𝐁𝐔𝐆 of Zagtoon’s 𝐌𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐒 𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐘𝐁𝐔𝐆 franchise, as charmed by 𝐂𝐄𝐂𝐄! I'd appreciate if you could give this post a ↺ if you're interested in following to help me find people to follow!
some quick portrayal notes!
this blog is considered canon-divergent past season three. this for two reasons: one, i haven't finished the show ( i am currently on s4 ) so if i get any information wrong or make headcanons that later may or may not be retconned, this is why; and two, i plan to explore a redemption arc for chloe because we were robbed of one.
in line with both @yinbug and @yangnoir's portrayals, the timeline between s1-s5 does not happen in the span of a few months. chloe is 13 at the time of origins, 14 through season one, 15 through two and three, and 16 through four and five. this will make her sixteen in my main verse.
chloe is a closeted bisexual/biromantic. a lot of this has to do with the status of her family. her father being a politician and her mother being toxic at best, chloe fears how she ( and by proxy, her parents ) may be perceived if she openly admits to having feelings for girls as well as boys. image is everything in her family, and chloe doesn't want to tarnish that — at least not when it comes to her romantic/sexual identity, so she definitely struggles with some internalised fears of rejection.
part of the exploration of chloe's redemption will include her focusing more keenly on her ballet. thus far she has been practising it for eight years and takes pointe classes, though it didn't become a very serious interest until she began to realise she needed to turn her life around. the discipline and focus needed in ballet, and especially pointe, gives chloe a much needed outlet for her frustrations and anger.
this will probably be expanded on/added to as i make my way through s4 and s5.
just kidding. i posted two things. now im disappearing for three more months.
i sign in. i post one thing. i disappear again for three months.
❝ Pardon my intrusion, ❞ the intermingled voices are nothing but polite, their tones a symphony of concern. Palms raise in a show of deference; they mean no harm. They come in peace. ❝ It's just—I sensed your doubt, you see. I know it's probably hard to believe, since we're usually on opposing sides... but I'd like to help, if you'll let me. ❞
They're careful to maintain their distance; even in her mindspace, Chloé Bourgeois—Queen Bee—would never allow the comfort Chrysalis would offer their usual targets.
❝ It's painful that they still don't fully trust you, even after all this time. ❞ Rather than a question, they state it as fact; there is no need to wonder when they feel it, too. ❝ You try and try to prove yourself to them that you're different now, but you're still the last one they call, still the one being given lesser tasks. ❞
❝ I can give you the power to make them acknowledge you. Only if you say yes, of course. The choice is yours. ❞ They take a step forward now, cautiously placing a hand on the heroine's arm. Though their head tilts a little, their masked face remains ever passive. ❝ I only want to help. ❞
𝐂𝐇𝐋𝐎𝐄 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐈𝐋𝐒; because she has been down this road before ( again and again and again ) and she knows how it will end. She doesn't want to be the bad guy anymore, alone with no friends or support system. Chloé had been trying, she had been making an effort. Her friends ( could she even call them that? ) just needed more time, didn't they?
She hates that she doubts. Hates even more that, in some small way, Chrysalis isn't wrong. But Chloé is so scared of failing again, of letting everyone down — how could she possibly trust the holder of the Butterfly Miraculous?
❝ Ugh, you don't want to help me, ❞ Chloé snips, rearing her head to glare at the emotionless mask. ❝ You want me to fail. You want me to let my friends down and prove them right that I haven't changed! You —— ❞ You want me to be alone.
Her temper rises, not just because of what Chrysalis says, but because even the enemy thinks she can't change. That she'll fall right back into her old ways. Ridiculous!
Well, maybe they don't really know Chloé Bourgeois at all.
❝ ——Get out. GET OUT! I don't want or need your kind of help. I'll earn their trust back on my own! ❞ She shrugs the hand away from her arm, turning away with a petulant air of defiance. ❝ And take your tacky, purple smoke with you. You're a fashion disaster worse than Hawkmoth. ❞
kind of want to explore college/adulthood threads. hmmm.

❝ That makes one of us, then … ❞ 𝐂𝐇𝐋𝐎𝐄'𝐒 𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐀 𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄 𝐃𝐎𝐔𝐁𝐓𝐅𝐔𝐋. She isn't usually so self-deprecating, but at this point she can't get much lower. It was only by an embarrassing amount of begging that her papa hadn't shipped her and her mother off to London in the end — though Maman had left; as she always did when things didn't go her way and only returning when it suited her. It took a long time, but Chloe realises now that she'll never get her mother's approval, or be her perfect carbon copy. And for the first time, Chloé's okay with that.
Chloé carefully cups her hands around the kwami as she flits closer. It feels good — warm, even — to know that Pollen believes in her. Even if she doesn't quite believe in herself yet. ❝ You're my only friend now, Pollen. I... I need your help. ❞
❝ ━ My Queen ... ❞ Pollen's voice, normally as robust as anyone's worthy of her power, is soft. She presses her hands together - only hesitating for a moment before hovering closer. No matter what has transpired, what has befallen Paris, Pollen can feel it : that honey-warm glow that drenches the connection between kwami and holder.
❝ I would never hate you ! I have only ever been proud to fight alongside you. I believe - I know that we can accomplish something good, still. Together ! ❞
❝ destruction is not carved from bone ; she is flesh and blood. she is a girl with sad eyes as gentle as a meadow sky, but as deep and as endless as a starless night. SHE IS ME. i am the end. ❞
