Ignoring The Conversation About Tori Woods Being Arrested Because There’s More To Talk About Than Just

ignoring the conversation about tori woods being arrested because there’s more to talk about than just that,

I hope people (specifically dark romance lovers and defenders specifically) start to see just why others have such a hard time swallowing dark romance being mainstream. Because all the rest of us see is a race to the bottom with no care about HOW to present these topics to a wide audience.

it’s not just her dad’s friend, it’s her dads older friend in his thirties ;) no no wait it’s not her dad’s friend it’s her uncle!! And she’s barely legal!! No wait!!! It’s her cousin AND her uncle and they act possessive! No it’s a stalker! And he doesn’t care about her consent! It’s her step brother!! And she’s underage!! No wait-

She was groomed. She was assaulted. She was abused.

I fully understand the point of using this sort of fiction to cope with painful trauma, I’ve even done the same thing. But after a point it is reckless to contribute to the romanticism of abuse, especially to young girls and to a wider extent AFABs and feminine presenting people. You may be gaining a helpful perspective or healing but what happens when another abuser gets their hands on this material and uses it to manipulate another victim? What happens when someone impressionable (young and impressionable are not the same, elders are often impressionable, stop muddying the conversation by bringing up that “teens shouldn’t be reading this anyway” because it doesn’t matter) reads this and it only reassures them that their current abusive situation is okay? Hell, booktok had been openly listing over a REAL 16 year old boy and suggested he read a book with romanticized rape in it.

this issue goes beyond dark romance but it is most prevalent in dark romance because everyone for it and against it has a trigger finger for attacking anyone who says something they don’t like. I’m hoping that this doesn’t fall on deaf ears and this can help a conversation to be had. Because this conversation has needed to happen but everyone has been too stubborn to even begin.

So as a brain worm for you to think about because I can’t find my own answers to these questions yet:

What dark romance is good? Does the genre require more restriction? What is a respectful way to portray the topics often used in dark romance? At what point should the publishers/publishing company be held responsible for any harm done by the book? Does the use for survivors to cope outweigh the possibility victims created by romanticized abuse?

it simply must be stated that trans men who present femininely on purpose have such a vibe about them

maybe it’s the confidence that requires, especially since I’ve seen a lot of men talking about how it still gives them dysphoria, but they just radiate this undefined swagger. Like.. rock on dude, I am in awe of your strength and dedication to your choice.

Image Description: Doodles of the cast of ATSV. They all look to the side plainly, excipt for Pavitr, who smiles. Every one of them thinks "i'm probably the only trans spider-person here"

Sometimes the point isn’t obvious, but please don’t underestimate people’s ability to completely ignore a writer’s original intention even as it hits them in the face repeatedly.

hate when you add a tag to a post with just a few notes and then the post blows up and like 1 million people add similar tags and then OP is like "can everyone STOP saying this!!! it's SO annoying! you missed the point of my post!' and it's like be that as it may, you missed the point of their post before anyone else did. you're the original idiot. A simple mistake. An innocent blunder made in good faith. It's those OTHER fools who failed to open the notes and read the previous tags before stumbling boldly into YOUR benevolent error. it's not you they want!!!!! guards!!!! take those OTHER 5,000 people away!!!!!

I had to break this to a close friend of mine recently but I worry that this sort of information needs to be more widespread, especially since we’re still coming off the popularity of “Don’t ever trauma dump on me! If you say anything about what you’re going through ever it’s trauma dumping!!!” And it’s equal and opposite reaction of “actually you must be there for your friends no matter what or you’re a bad friend and trauma cannot ever be weaponized that never happens you’re lying.”

You are not your friend’s therapist. You can be there for them, provide support, be a shoulder to cry on, but you are not and should not attempt to be a friend’s sole source of healing their mental health issues. Bad advice often does more harm than good, and you are not a licensed professional who is equipped with the knowledge of how to help.

I’m not saying abandon your friends, I’m speaking from the position of someone whose bad, damaging, habits were enabled by a friend who thought that watching psych101 videos meant they were qualified to heal me.

sick of seeing disparaging comments towards men just for the sake of it.

“Ew, men are so gross looking.”

YOURE gross looking leave that boy who didn’t ask for your opinion alone!!!!! Just because it hurts a man doesn’t mean its feminism.

I love boys so much. Like so much. I love when they have long hair or no hair. I love when they do something passionately and refuse to back down from a problem. I love when they’re vulnerable and ask for help. I love boys.

i was one of the people who got yelled at by her in one of her comment sections for criticizing the fact that she was degrading someone else who used the word queer. It honestly didn’t shock me when she began using transphobic dog whistles against a non-binary person later on in that same thread

have you gotten the chance to watch saiscribble's 'the vivziepop hatedom is cringe' video?

saiscribble is a queerphobe/lgbtqia gatekeeping, racist, ableist pos.

I've watched her VODs and streams, and it always has odd ass points how "you can just tell if so-n-so is autistic because theyre ugly", or borderline terf rhetoric disguised behind being a "lesbian elder".

She also uses the terms "puriteen" unironically which that has me fucking ROLLING. She loves to call anyone under the age of 28 "children" or "kid", which is a sure fire way to get people to drop to their knees and respect you! totally!

She tone polices SA victims, specifically the alleged victim of her CONSTANT obsession. Like??? How can you tone police a CSA victim, how can you hate someone so much that you end up hating the people they personally victimized?? Not to mention she loves to commodify these experiences the victim has had, making fun of it in videos. She doesnt seem to understand that making fun of a perpetrator for inc/stous abuse also makes fun of the victim of inc/stous abuse.

She says the r-slur and n-slur. Mind you shes the whitest Gubbah, she makes my lack of melanin seem like a tropical tan. That said, she's highly offended at the word "Queer", which is hilarious because the word "Queer" has far less of a dark history and definition then any of the other slurs she loves to drop.

Her video on the 'hatedom' is just overlooking evidence and tone policing Limus, a SA victim. Plus some teasing and bullying of all of those shown within the video, including some random artists who redesigned the shows characters JUST FOR FUN.

In the same spirit, my bff accidentally found my dead name on pinterest and made fun of me for a full minute, thinking my mom had a bunch of boards named after a random girl and not a single one for me

My boyfriend found out what my dead name was, then he preceded to roast it for the next 25 mins.

I work in a theater. The men I meet have always been the kindest people in the building. Shoutout to the lead male actor who asked me what I’d done for the day and, when I told him it was my birthday, quietly notified the stage manager so I could get a birthday shout out. Acknowledgment to the man who came and found me after my mom gave him flowers so he could thank me personally for even suggesting the idea to my mom and then hug me. And extra love to the male directors who have only ever kindly corrected my mistakes and guided me. All the love to my guy friends who are the goofiest goobers known to man

painting an entire population as evil inherently (whether it’s because of trauma or not) with make you a lonely, empty, person.

I see the radfems out there saying that every man who's ever been born is a psychopath who's constantly looking for an opportunity to commit a felony and then I remember this one time I was really struggling to get a shopping cart out of another shopping cart and a dude came over to help me, but he couldn't do it, and then another dude came over to help him, and then another came over because it was a challenge he wanted in on, and then I had 3 guys all tearing at a stuck shopping cart, and literally none of them even needed a cart.

And when they got it out, they fist pumped and I said thanks so much and one of them said "easy." And then they left.

And it's like.

I don't think radfems go outside.
