I am personally annoyed at the fans who take Garretts words as gospel...
Like sure it's fun to have him "confirm" characters as queer, but his word isn't god's, he's just one of the many people who worked on the project, albeit more popular.
G1 as we know it is dead, why can't we focus on the actual cannon representation we have in g3? Like, the infighting is so fucking nasty and for what? So you could be a little louder about your own headcannon and gatekeep and harass those who don't fit it?
Ugh the fandom is annoying sometimes istg
i was gonna stop posting about the watcher fiasco but i saw some really confusing???? takes on my dash so I'm throwing in my unsolicited thoughts even though it's not the most eloquent
1) people who were criticising watcher's decision after the initial announcement are NOT bullies. The boys made a bad decision and had to deal with the consequences. Just because you like them doesn't mean that people expressing their (understandable and quite just) disappointment are bullies
2) people who aren't won over by the apology aren't just "haters" and "internet trolls". While the apology seems to be a step in the right direction, we have NO WAY to know if they are sincere about it yet. They might show growth in the future but only time will tell. And even if they do show growth, fans whose feelings about watcher have been tainted because of this fiasco do not owe them their loyalty when said loyalty has already been disrespected once
I work in a theater. The men I meet have always been the kindest people in the building. Shoutout to the lead male actor who asked me what I’d done for the day and, when I told him it was my birthday, quietly notified the stage manager so I could get a birthday shout out. Acknowledgment to the man who came and found me after my mom gave him flowers so he could thank me personally for even suggesting the idea to my mom and then hug me. And extra love to the male directors who have only ever kindly corrected my mistakes and guided me. All the love to my guy friends who are the goofiest goobers known to man
painting an entire population as evil inherently (whether it’s because of trauma or not) with make you a lonely, empty, person.
I see the radfems out there saying that every man who's ever been born is a psychopath who's constantly looking for an opportunity to commit a felony and then I remember this one time I was really struggling to get a shopping cart out of another shopping cart and a dude came over to help me, but he couldn't do it, and then another dude came over to help him, and then another came over because it was a challenge he wanted in on, and then I had 3 guys all tearing at a stuck shopping cart, and literally none of them even needed a cart.
And when they got it out, they fist pumped and I said thanks so much and one of them said "easy." And then they left.
And it's like.
I don't think radfems go outside.
Also. I have to mention the fact that the enforcers don’t HAVE to parallel cops specifically. They’re “enforcers”. Look back in history to any violent regime and you’ll find more parallels between the enforcers and them.
they’re not just cops- they’re the idea of violence carried out via the government, and that’s never been a North American specific issue.
"Stop projecting your America-centric view of cops onto the enforcers in Arcane!" as if the very first shot in season 1 isn't a bloodbath with Vi and Powder's parents having been murdered by enforcers, as if we don't witness multiple violations of their power in season 2 and as if police brutality isn't a global issue.

“hey guys im here to correct on some misinformation in what a reboot is. a reboot is what it sounds like - it is a reimagining of a series. they’ll take old concepts, characters, or even just the franchise name and breathe new life into it.
“a lot of people will say a reboot isn’t necessary, BUT that’s coming from a fan of the originals, not from people who know the original sold. monster high in my opinion is the best example of what i’m talking about because generation one of monster high was only profitable really for about three or four years and that’s why it ended and that’s why they did the generation two reboot.
“so generation three was actually workshopped for YEARS by people who knew what they were doing. generation one of Monster High came out in 2010 generation three of Monster High came out in 2022. these are totally different markets.
“and as much as doll collectors hate to hear it - these are for children. the market that they tested and research with was children. as much as it might be a little bit sad to think ‘oh they changed my favorite character’ the originals still exist, you can always tune back in and check it out. at the end of the day, these are businesses. they don’t really care about your feelings, they’re just trying to make money off of an old familiar franchise again.
“i’m not super knowledgeable about holly hobbie but this is one of my original holly hobbie dolls and this is a new one and i’m pretty sure these are both the character carrie. they decided because when the originals came out, they did not have really any diversity other than hair color, they decided to add diversity of the line and completely reimagined them. a doll like like this would have not been successful in the early 2000s. this one wasn’t either but they tried something new.”

***it might not be an exact translation but i tried my best T-T i replayed it about 90 billion times and words have no meaning now***
I think what the biggest kick in the teeth is with the watcher announcement- at least for me- is knowing that they are NOT Netflix OR Hulu. they do not have enough content to hold an entire streaming service on their back. I get why they’re doing it and that just worries me more. They’re trying to make more money to support their growing company but they just aren’t Dropout, Netflix, or Hulu. With the big buck streaming services, they have enough content beyond their original series to keep people watching (ignoring the fact that most big boy services have needed to switch gears in their monetization to keep going) but watcher does not have that. in order for this change to work even remotely on their end, they’d need to kick into high gear and make more content. Like fast. Someone else pointed out that they’ve got a “two episode per month” schedule and that absolutely will not work for a streaming service. and of course everything I’ve mentioned is on their end, not even taking into consideration how many people are very visibly angry by this. What happens when they don’t have enough people sign up?
what a kick in the pants.
