btw the grief you feel over becoming disabled comes in waves. sometimes its as small as a thought and other times it steals your breath and brings you to your knees and makes you feel like the whole fucking world is coming to an end.

but its not. you will catch your breath, and get off your knees, and continue folding laundry, or buying groceries, or whatever. and things will be different but they won't always be terrible.

a quick psa to anyone recently getting into greek mythology and is a victim of tumblr and/or tiktok misconceptions:

-there is no shame in being introduced to mytholgy from something like percy jackson, epic the musical or anything like that, but keep in mind that actual myths are going to be VERY different from modern retellings

-the myth of medusa you probably know (her being a victim of poseidon and being cursed by athena) isn't 100% accurate to GREEK mythology (look up ovid)

-there is no version of persephone's abduction in which persephone willingly stays with hades, that's a tumblr invention (look up homeric hymn to demeter)

-as much as i would like it, no, cerberus' name does not mean "spot" (probably a misunderstanding from this wikipedia article)

-zeus isn't the only god who does terrible things to women, your fav male god probably has done the same

-on that note, your fav greek hero has probably done some heinous shit as well

-gods are more complicated than simply being "god of [insert thing]", many titles overlap between gods and some may even change depending on where they were worshipped

-also, apollo and artemis being the gods of the sun and the moon isn't 100% accurate, their main aspects as deities originally were music and the hunt

-titans and gods aren't two wholly different concepts, titan is just the word used to decribe the generation of gods before the olympians

-hector isn't the villain some people make him out to be

-hephaestus WAS married to aphrodite. they divorced. yes, divorce was a thing in ancient greece. hephaestus' wife is aglaia

-ancient greek society didn't have the same concepts of sexuality that we have now, it's incorrect to describe virgin goddesses like artemis and athena as lesbians, BUT it's also not wholly accurate to describe them as aromantic/asexual, it's more complex than that

-you can never fully understand certain myths if you don't understand the societal context in which they were told

-myths have lots and lots of retellings, there isn't one singular "canon", but we can try to distinguish between older and newer versions and bewteen greek and roman versions

-most of what you know about sparta is probably incorrect

-reading/waching retellings is not a substitute to reading the original myths, read the iliad! read the odyssey! i know they may seem intimidating, but they're much more entertaining than you may think

greek mythology is so complex and interesting, don't go into it with preconcieved notions! try to be open to learn!

I’m a trans man that has had dysphoria since I was a child. I am a trans man that was boyish growing up. I am a trans man in an unaccepting household. I am a trans man who strictly uses he/him. I am a trans man that is strictly masculine. I am a trans man that is gay because I am a man that likes men.

I am the “real trans person” that you people claim you are defending, but I really just want you to shut up.

When it comes down to it I will be discriminated against the same as a feminine trans man, masculine trans woman, anyone on the aromantic and/or asexual spectrum no matter their identity, someone who uses neopronouns or xenogenders, etc.

Coming from the trans/gay person you claim you’re defending: I don’t want you. You make things worse for all of us. My oppression is not “worse” than any other queer persons’s. Go do something actually meaningful with your time instead of trying to tear a community apart

RotTMNT Donnie HCs because I feel like it.

-Donnie is autistic

-Their love languages are physical touch and acts of service.

-Pronouns: He/They/It (Demi-boy)

-They are Polyromantic (preference towards guys) and Ace

- His favorite thing to do on a Friday night is to curl up with a weighted blanket, fidget/stim toys and put on their comfort show/movie

-He had chronic pain and fatigue! He uses knee/leg braces sometimes. When he has a whole plan for the day then he wakes up and is to fatigued to do it, he gets really frustrated with itself. The rest of them try to calm him down and cheer them up. Donnie feels like such a burden and the others have to remind him that he’s not. :)

-He is fluent in ASL! I think because he goes non-verbal sometimes, especially when he’s hyper focused or frustrated.

-He stutters a bit when he’s stressed, frustrated, in a lot of pain or REALLY excited.

-Ok last one! He wears purple socks when he wants to be comfy.

something i’ve noticed lately is online leftists being ignorant to some (most) forms of antisemitism, but vocal ONLY about jokes/stereotypes about jewish ethnic features.

they can point out the big nose stereotypes all day long (and they should) but when we beg them to have more concern for conspiracy theories, double standards for jews/israel, disinformation about jewish history and the war, holocaust inversion/denial/fake care for survivors, using zionism as a get out of jail card for judenhass, generalizing all israelis and diaspora jews as genocidal, denying that most jews identify with zionism, misusing jewish terms, demonizing jewish culture and hebrew, actual modern day blood libel, tokenization, accusing jews of “stealing culture”, denying indigeneity, painting ashke jews as white colonizers/villains, completely disregarding other diaspora groups, calling for israelis to be murdered, trying to “revoke” israelis’ jewishness, falsely calling the jewish people /only/ a religious group, redefining or goysplaining words/concepts they learned last week, using historically antisemitic canards, desecrating jewish monuments, houses, businesses, schools, and synagogues, AND literal, physical violence against jews….

it’s silence. crickets. it’s excuses and justifications. it’s thoughtless conversation enders. it’s refusal to sit with discomfort and address one’s mistakes. it’s a buzzword copy and pasted with a flag. “death to israel” or “kys zionist”. it’s “antizionism ≠ antisemitism”.

if you refuse to acknowledge the many forms antisemitism takes, of course you’d hyperfocus on one specific type. racist tropes about jews in media are awful. they’re harmful and part of dehumanization.

but if your understanding of antisemitism starts and ends at “greedy long nosed goblins in harry potter,” and you refuse to listen to jews, and refuse to see how antisemitism functions outside of pop culture and how it manifests into verbal and physical violence, you are no ally.

spreading antisemitism will not help palestinians at all, and it’s so fucking devastating that online activists can log on and feel vindicated and like they’re all heroic just for harassing random jews. meanwhile they’re wasting time and energy that could go towards something that ACTUALLY helps the palestinian people.

(also funny that they wanna call jews white when these stereotypes are about non-white ethnic features. and they stem from nazi propaganda about jews/jewish blood “ruining” white genetics. i could go on and on about the weird racial science lefties have ran with since oct7, especially within what we understand as race/ethnicity as social groupings, what makes someone indigenous, the weird blood quantum shit, noble savage trope, and the infantilization of palestinians)
