ok i'm sure you get this asked a lot but i haven't seen it - just how did you get/develop your art style? i love it so much!! it's so pleasing to look at.
why thank you! honestly “finding my art style” was a huge thing for me back when I was starting out. I went from style to style pretty wildly, and it was really only when I realized that art style is more about technique & how the art is made - rather than just how the faces look or whatever - that I actually fell into the current style I now have. I made a little “art journey” chart under the cut so you can kind of see what I mean! This really only covers about /half/ the different styles I tried out, especially in the early days.
this is a free website that lets you watch and stream anything. it’d be a shame if this website got around.
Junior year is known to be the most important, challenging year of high school.
But that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun! You can no doubt handle it all in stride with a little organization and planning. Let’s take just a few minutes right now to smooth the road ahead with some guidelines that will help make your junior year a success.
I’m sure you’ve heard this more times than you ever wanted to, but with so much going on junior year, it’s worth continually checking that academic performance is staying a top priority. Your GPA is, after all, usually the largest factor in admissions decisions.
It is also a good idea to review your classes for next semester with a counselor to ensure you are meeting college admissions requirements while challenging yourself with the most rigorous classes you can reasonably handle. Colleges do look at your senior year class schedule too, so continue to be just as academically driven all the way to the finish line, senioritis and all.
Next on the priority list is test score optimization. Even if you took the PSAT your sophomore year, take it again this year—this test can not only qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship program but also give you good practice for the SAT. If you haven’t done so already, figure out which dates you’ll want to take the actual SAT or ACT as well as SAT Subject Tests, and then devise a study plan to get you to your peak scores.
With so many colleges to choose from, where do you start? First, consider your general preferences. Would you feel better at a large or small school? In a city, suburban, or rural setting? On the west coast, east coast, Hawaii, another country? Are there any specific academic programs or extracurricular offerings that are important to you?
You can explore college websites or college search sites like the College Board’s Big Future to find your personal college matches. Then plan campus visits to confirm which aspects in a college you get most excited about and which aspects you don’t care for. To get a feel for the campus culture, try walking around solo and/or take a guided tour. See if you can talk to any students or administrators to gather more up-to-date, inside information about the school.
Since colleges tend to want dedicated, passionate students populating their campuses, they’re drawn to students who commit a significant amount of time to a few meaningful extracurricular activities. This dedication shows that students are pursuing a genuine interest and are willing to explore their potential in specific areas of expertise (which is generally more useful to the world than passively attending a bunch of different activities). Focus on one or two of your strongest interests and see how you can develop them further (be creative!).
The earlier you start looking for scholarships, the better chance you’ll have at getting more free money! Some scholarships are need-based (they depend on family income levels) and others are merit-based (they’re based on your academic or other achievements). Check fastweb.com for a current list of scholarships, and ask your counselor and perhaps your parents’ workplaces for other possible free-funds opportunities.
Check the websites of the colleges you are interested in to see if they require teacher and/or counselor recommendation letters. If so, you will want to plan ahead so you can figure out which teachers know you best and then give them ample time to write you a quality letter (especially before they’re barraged with requests from tons of other students).
Taking advantage of summertime to get a job or internship or participate in an academic summer program will help you further explore your interests while boosting your college application. Do an online search or ask your counselor for resources and see what really piques your interest.
You can also take this time to begin drafting your college application essays. Starting on these early will reduce stress and give you more time to reflect on yourself and your life to produce strong responses.
The more you’re out there exploring, enjoying, and learning, the better prepared you will be for the coming years.
So go ahead and write down your plans and to-dos now, and you’ll have yourself a valuable key to less stress and more success. And, as always, don’t overlook or underestimate the power you have to include some enjoyment in it all!
Best Friends to Lovers, the Bollywood Edition: I have always loved the best-friends-to-lovers trope more than anything else in the world because I find it so precious and beautiful that two people who know each other so well fall in love with each other, except it's so much more special because they're already best friends. I'm here for the will-they-won't-they-ness of it all, the I-liked-you-before-you-liked-me angst, and the healthy sort of jealousy that makes one realize that they have feelings for (if not already in love that is) for the other one--> HECK YEAH.
Anyway, here's a representation of the cycle of how Best Friends turn into Lovers through Bollywood gifs! Enjoy, leave a heart if you liked it! <3
Teasing (from Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na)
Bickering (from Jab We Met)
Goofing about together (from Happy Ending)
Until one of them falls for the other (from Bareilly Ki Barfi)
And the other doesn't realize yet (from 2 States)
And it's all angst and sadness until (from I Hate Love Storys)
Until one day they realize it too (from Hasee Toh Phasee)
After which everything is the same (from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani)
Except that they're best friends (from Ok Jaanu)
And they're in love! (from Dil Dhadakne Do)
At least we have a business proposal to look forward to after the mess that was 25 21

Last time I asked for recs but I missed out on more recent movies so here’s a list of animated movies you might have missed out on… Part 2! :) (as per last time; This post will have multiple links (to the trailers of the movies) so tumblr might try to “shadowban” it, please reblog or save somewhere else if you want to keep it.)
In 1882, a young Russian aristocrat goes on an epic adventure to find out what happened to her grandfather and save her family’s reputation. This french animation have slipped under the radar for a lot of people, which is unfortunate because compared to a lot of the “simpler” stories in animations made for children as target audience, it’s this movies strong point.
A thousand years ago, one boy with a dream of becoming a great warrior is abducted with his sister and taken to a land far away from home. Thrown into a world where greed and injustice rule all, Bilal finds the courage to raise his voice and make a change. This movie is made in the United Arab Emirates about Bilal ibn Rabah’s start in life.
A bold ten-year-old Sudanese boy befriends a young giraffe and a kind Bedouin, who takes them on a splendid journey via a hot-air balloon as far as the palace of King Charles X of France. The style in this movie is so gorgeous, much like classic western animation! French-Belgian movie.
Princes who have been turned into green Dwarfs seek the kiss of the most beautiful girl in order to break the spell. At the same time, a princess is looking for her lost father. A fairy tale-parody with a twist. This korean movie caught a lot of unwarranted slack before being released due to a very gross ad. The ending credits are especially very cute.
The story centers on domestic house cat Francis and the grisly feline murders taking place in his new neighborhood. I would recommended people to watch this movie based on style and animation alone, but there’s a lot of… adult themes including gore and sex. Very strange in a who-the-fuck-is-this-movie-marketed-for??-way but aesthetically pleasing. Made in Germany.
Fei-Fei’s mother dies when she’s young and when she notices her father moving on, she takes comfort in a mythological story her mother used to tell her. Made by legendary animator Glenn Keane that worked on all your favourite Disney-movies.
A man with Alzheimer struggle to adjust to life in an elderly care facility. There he makes new friends and reflect on the disease. There some really strong themes of love and friendship. Watching it, I felt it was actually really refreshing seeing an animated movie with main characters (and issues) that are not just teens! Quite a bittersweet watch. Some of the scenography is also really gorgeous. Made in Spain.
Lupin III (known character from several anime series and movies) goes on a grand adventure to uncover the secrets of the Bresson Diary, which is tied to the legacy of his famous grandfather. Sort of a really strange story at times but wonderful animation and a playfulness that reminds me of those cartoons you used to watch as a kid!
hello, hi,
im here to explain and tell other people NOT to compare our Spider-Mans please
the closest thing we could do from choosing between them is saying you prefer someone else's but not saying 'HiS sPiDeRmAn WaS bEtEr'
ew, no.
i understand most of the fighting and arguments but here me out,
my mom and dad often had read the comics back then. mom explained that, the reason why a lot of people prefer Toby's Spidey, is because that's exactly what the comic portrayed him as.
an awkward nerd who had a really bad life style.
and obviously because he was the first Spider-Man of many.
but other than that, it's because he was exactly what the comic book showed.
he was also the 'relatable teen' in the eyes of other people.
another reason why I've seen a lot of semi-old people defend him.
to Andrew's Spidey on the other hand,
the reason why, AgAiN
it's because he was relatable, he was a good Peter Parker but Peter was, again, an awkward nerdy teen
and he was too righteous to fight back or anything
also why a lot of millennials loves him-
i love him too, i don't blame them.
Toby was right he's amazing.
now onto Tom's,
a lot of gen z defends him, AGAIN. because, RELATABLE.
he's the perfect person to portray as the teens these days.
his life is, pretty much like a lot of teens, or more specifically, gen z.
the saying of,
Toby was the best Peter Parker. Andrew was the best Spider-Man. and Tom is the best a both.
i think that is true,
Toby portrayed Peter perfectly, in the comics at least.
do i even need to explain Andrew's?
the ultimate reason why Tom is the best at both, at least in my opinion, is because, his character showed how young he is and the movies showed that he has much to learn, both in life and being a hero. His Spider-Man showed and proved to be powerful but inexperienced.
it also showed that his opponents knew he was young, because a) of his voice, and b) because of his commentaries.
and with Peter Parker being that type of person to not fight back even when he can, but doesn't because he thinks that he shouldn't. and mainly because he's being too righteous.
ofc people are allowed their own opinion about him, but these are mine.
thank you.
(My first volume has been lent out and not returned, so we don't have the classic plum quote, sorry)
A lot of these are kinda sad bc I really love the part of the story where we learn about Tohru's inner demons
"I believe it, too. I want to hold every memory in my heart and believe in it. So that I become strong enough to stick it out, and to one day overcome them...until they become precious memories." (ch. 23)
"For me, it's always the people around me who give me the strength to go on." (ch. 30)
"Just like you've listened to all my whining, Kyo-kun, from now on I want you to let me hear your complaints. I want you to tell me when it's hard, when you're scared, when you're weak. I want us to be able to confront your troubles together. Together...just like we've been doing. I want to live, eat, study, and struggle together! I want to be with you!" (ch. 33)
"After all...you have courage in your heart." (ch. 38)
"Maybe the truth is that no one is born with a 'reason.' Maybe that's something each person has to find on their own. A reason for being born, a reason to stick around, a reason to exist. I think everyone has to find it on their own, and decide it on their own." (ch. 45)
"I have a feeling that I can't even find the words to describe." (ch. 48)
"I want to protect them. I want to use all the strength I have to protect the paths they're walking on." (ch. 67)
"I can't give up. Something...there must be something I can do. I want to believe that. I have to believe that." (ch. 67)
"The warmth in our hearts is proof that there is light. It's so small that it seems like even a tiny wind might blow it out...but the light is definitely there." (ch. 72)
"My heart aches. It feels like it's going to be torn apart. Is it because my outrageous wish doesn't stand a chance? Is it because I know that some wishes just don't come true? Even so...I'll keep wishing." (ch. 75)
"Every night greets the dawn. There is no night that goes on forever." (ch. 99)
"One step at a time...I want to unravel these mysteries, these truths. One step at a time." (ch. 99)
"I know I'll have to do something when the time comes...but I think I already know what I'll have to let go of." (ch. 108)
"My heart was breaking on my way home that day. I was crying ugly tears because I could feel it yet again...the feeling of something fading away. Fading away into 'memories.' And even if I don't forget the loneliness and sorrow that tore me apart, the memories themselves are fading, too. No matter how much I try to hold on, no matter how many times I swear it to myself...time moves on, and they begin to fade. It's cruel." (ch. 114)
"And that 'me' is becoming a memory, too." (ch. 114)
"I'm ashamed. I'm dishonest, weak, and dirty." (ch. 114)
"I can't. Stop...don't go anywhere. Don't leave me." (ch. 114)
"I'm sorry...for being such a coward." (ch. 114)
"I can't get the words out. I have to gather up my courage. Courage...it's time to be brave. I'm not going to put the lid back on. This feeling...can't be stopped anymore. It's time to be brave." (ch. 114)
"If change is part of life, then it's such a cruel kindness." (ch. 121)
"I've decided...I can't remain at a standstill anymore." (ch. 121)
"Neither people nor feelings can be bound, frozen in time." (ch. 121)
"Just as all good things, happy things, fun things must come to an end...scary and sad things will also come to an end. Always. Even if you can't believe it when it happens, please...please don't give up. Live. I want you to live. You might make mistakes or lose your way, but please...please live. Don't ever stop moving forward. Please...that's all I ask. Don't give up. Even if I'm no longer at your side." (ch. 122)
"I do want to be with him. Not being able to...breaks my heart. It breaks my heart." (ch. 129)
"I've always been lousy at hiding my feelings." (ch. 129)
"I could hear those words dozens of times, hundreds of times, thousands of times...and I would still think this is like a dream." (ch. 129)
"I really love you...and that love is invincible!" (ch. 129)
"I'm so thankful that you're feeling this pain for me, in my stead. I'm so thankful..." (ch. 133)
