Ang Pau (红包) or Red Packet is a monetary gift given during holidays or for special occasions such as a wedding, a graduation, or the birth of a baby. Although the red envelope was popularised by Chinese traditions, other cultures also share similar traditional customs. The red packet is also called 压岁钱 (money that can suppress the demon) when given to children during Chinese New Year. This term, however, is now understood as “money given to children by their elders”.
Before stepping out of the house to visit relatives or friends this Lunar New Year, bring a pair of Mandarin Oranges (柑) with you. A traditional gift during Chinese New Year is the exchanging of a pair of mandarin oranges and the giving of red packet containing an even amount of money. Unmarried adults and children receive these red packets from married family members and friends in exchange of wishing them good health and fortune.
Pineapples are called “ong lai” in Hokkien and Cantonese, which literally translates to 旺来 or “fortune come”, hence their popularity during the CNY celebrations. It is considered lucky to have them during Chinese New Year and giving Pineapple Tarts (黄梨塔) as gifts symbolises good fortune and luck.

im going to try out being a Jonathan-appreciator on main
Imagine if you will:
Jonathan, growing up was a very serious kid.
But he did have his exceptions.
“For the honor of Camelot!” Jonathan held a styrofoam sword high. Five year old Will and Mike copied him with their training twigs .
“Boys, what are you doing?” Joyce laughed, hand over her mouth as she watched the two toddlers copy their instructor.
“For the honor of Camelot!” Mike and Will cheered, voices high and chirpy the way kids who had too much fundip did.
“Training my minions” Jonathan cooed, ruffling the twos hairs. Happy eyes glowed up at him.
“Jonathan you didn’t just call them minions, they’re five!” Joyce wheezed out a giggle and snort.
“What’s a minion?” Will asked Mike, tilting his head.
“I think I heard that word in church once” Mikes face went squished. “I don’t wanna be a choir boy, I wanna fight for the honor of King Arthur!”
Looking back on it, Jonathan could probably believe that he had a small hand in Mike picking up a fire poker and using it as a whole sword when the Hawkins Apocalypse of 1987 started.

hi, you are one of my favorite blogs on this hellsite (affectionate)
im trying desperately to get better at the whole reblogging instead of just liking posts thing, since my social anxiety is high enough it also effects my social media lol
hell yeah i'm so glad you're getting better!! social anxiety is so real. i know for some people what has helped is being able to think "oh, hey, if i mess up or something bad happens, i don't know anyone here, so i can just delete my account and start over with no consequences". there's also the queue, which i know lots of people use for social anxiety.
but that may not work for you, and that's fine!!! good intentions and effort is half the battle <3
