a/n : this is just a self indulgent set of headcanons that I had on my mind during the exams and this idea has been sitting in my mind for a while now

Natsume is a really interesting roommate to say the least! When you first met him, he was quite welcoming but the moment you came back into the apartment with your luggage, he was already back in his room...

What really prompted the interaction between the two of you? In the first week of you moving in, there was a blackout in the whole apartment. Of course out of concern, he went to check what happened and if you're alright! thank goodness you weren't hurt, but he lit up candles and the two of you talked throughout the night.

He helps you with the classwork or assignments that you have complete, if you take the same classes of course! His notes are really detailed and he can explain concepts really well, don't you think?

he can definitely cook, no questions asked. If it's within his ability, he's always willing to make it for you! Or you two may go to the cafe down the street, anything works with him really!

game night in your apartment is a really important thing for him. Sometimes, Sora or Tsumugi comes along and also plays, their always happy to play with the two of you! However, be careful... Natsume sure isn't a stranger to many games and he can be really ruthless.

You have to remind him to take breaks and rest every once in a while too. At 3 a.m, a light can still be seen coming from his room. Natsume is really dedicated to what interests him and this can cause him to forget about his own wellbeing!

When college life gets too heavy or difficult, he is always ready to be the shoulder that you can cry on or the person who will listen to all your problems. Even if you don't want advice or comments, you just want someone to listen to you, he's always there!

He definitely does not want you to worry for him so you have to make sure to catch on the signs that the stress is getting to him and help him ease the tension, he really does appreciate it!

You frowned. Rei had been somewhat lecturing you for the past half hour. You sat on the edge of the bathroom counter, watching as the vampire slowly wrapped a clean white bandage around your scraped arm.

“I know…” You sighed, looking away from him. “I’m sorry.”

You couldn’t help but huff. About an hour ago, you had taken a nasty fall onto solid concrete after collapsing due to exhaustion. Work was work—and unfortunately, there wasn’t much you could do to escape it. Maybe you’d try to get some more sleep, or maybe you’d force yourself to drink more water. If not for your sake, then for Rei’s.

Your boyfriend cupped your cheek as he stood between your legs, gently kissing your forehead. “Don’t apologize, beloved. Just be more mindful next time, yes?” He whispered against your skin, pecking you once again before pulling away to bandage your other arm.

It was unbelievable how utterly kind and loving he was. Rei had warned you numerous times about the consequences of overworking yourself, and when you hadn’t listened and ultimately collapsed, he still stood here, bandaging you up. “I will. I promise.”

Rei smiled warmly. “I know you will.”

He wrapped your arm with the bandages so expertly, covering your wounds with the white fabric tightly enough to stay on, but not tightly enough to hurt you. You didn’t understand how you got so lucky—having a boyfriend who would always drop everything to help you. You almost felt guilty.

Rei must’ve read your thoughts, taking your hands in his softly once he finished dressing your arms.

“I’ll always be here for you to fall back on, alright? You needn’t worry. I only want you to be safer, my dear.” He smiled, bringing your uncovered hands to his lips, kissing them tenderly. “I love you very much.”

“I love you more, Rei. I’m grateful to have you.” You answered, the man continuing to kiss around your palms, knuckles, and fingers. He let out a breathy chuckle, leaning into you, his face dangerously close to yours.

“I love you most.” He said, simply. “You do so much for me, so let me take care of you once in awhile, sweetheart.”

The ravonette fully leaned in and kissed you, his lips molding to fit against your perfectly, his hands never leaving yours. You felt him smile against your lips.

the two of you had argued before. it wasn't a new concept, but it surely was a rare one. it was usually over petty things for you were both stubborn and hardly malleable. but you were also compatible, you loved each other dearly, you worked well together. even in moments similar to this where you felt frustrated you did not stop loving him, even for a second.

but those were moments similar to this, not this exact, specific, one.

he was yelling something. you had already drained his voice out, you couldn't hear him and you didn't want to. there was something cutting into your chest, bruising you like the sun did to the evening sky. you swore you could feel blood trickling down your body as your heart gave in.

and suddenly all the numbness vanished and your senses heightened. every rustling of the curtain, birds chirping outside, the electricity in the light bulbs and his harsh tone when he snapped at you.

"are you even listening to me?"

your eyes focused on him. he was so beautiful most of the time. why was he being so gruff all of a sudden? this was just some petty argument was it not? so why did you feel your body tense up and a stinging tear fill up your eye?

but he kept staring at you silently, face growing more and more forlorn.

"are you alright?"

you thought it was quite obvious you weren't fine. what a pathetic question. you don't just think this, you physically voice it aloud. "what do you think?"

"i'm so–" he stopped himself from saying anything. all he did was step closer to you. his presence wasn't comforting, as it used to be. it wasn't warm or inviting. and it was anything but desired. and he knew all this, he knew he had hurt you, and he was probably the last person you wanted to see but he hated to see you cry. and closing his eyes would not be enough to rid him of the image of you in pain.

"stay away from me–"

he wasn't one to listen. he wasn't one to admit his faults and mistakes. and he was surely not one to physically console. but it was you.

he wrapped his arms around your shoulders and gently guided your head into his chest. he kissed your crown lightly as he stroked your hair. it was like he was lulling you to sleep. and you heard him whisper sweet promises, telling you he would never do such a thing again, and how he regretted it as soon as he raised his voice.

you felt detached from him even with the apology. you wondered if he would have ever felt guilty if you were just a bit better at hiding your emotions. if he had never seen you cry, would he care? the thoughts clouded your mind, and all you could do was sob in his chest until you heard it. and the words struck your heart.

"i'm so in love with you. please, let me get better."

he stood in the flower shop. a stranger in a strange land. michael kaiser had never bought flowers for a partner before; it felt strange and unfamiliar. looking around, unsure of what to do, he felt like an intruder. like he wasn't supposed to be there. like he didn't belong.

he felt the eyes of the shopkeeper upon him, judging him, and he felt a sudden wave of anxiety veil over his being.

it was the time of year when the flowers were in full bloom. the air was filled with the sweet scent of roses, and the streets were lined with colourful bouquets of daisies and lilies. he felt it was his duty to buy you flowers since having first heard your fondness for the delicate bloom. so why did it feel disingenuous to be standing here in middle of all the beautifully cut and arranged flowers in pretty pots waiting to be taken home to you?

"how may i help you sir?"

it was the same shopkeeper who had been inspecting him with a look of disgust or disapproval. which one it was, kaiser didn't know. but he didn't really care

"yes actually. i'm looking for flowers to get for my partner."

"a partner...so what are their favourite flowers?"

"i'm not entirely sure."

"you're not sure." he sounded so utterly disinterested it almost offended kaiser. "favourite colour perhaps?"

it finally struck him. he didn't deserve to be your romantic partner at all. he had no idea how to make a romantic gesture, how to express his feelings in a way that would be meaningful to his beloved. kaiser felt like a clumsy child, unable to speak matters of heart. but then again, even children knew their crush's favourite colour.

"see, we don't really talk about that..."

"it really isn't my place to comment...but, perhaps seek out a relationship therapist rather than just buying flowers as an apology."

how dare he? kaiser didn't need some stupid flower shop to get flowers. he didn't need this treatment. he didn't deserve it.

"as you said, it's not your place to comment."

kaiser still felt unfamiliar and like an intruder, the only difference was that he didn't care to fit in anymore. so he left. the only problem that now remained was getting you those flowers.

it wasn't long before he found himself in front of a gaping meadow. the meadow was a vision of beauty, a tapestry of colour and texture, a dreamscape of wildflowers. while the sun shone down from a cloudless sky, the air was alive with the scent of spring and kaiser felt like he was about to drift away. the grass was a lush, vibrant green, and the flowers were a riot of pinks and purples, yellows and blues. a breathtaking harmony of nature's bounty.

the figure of a man, moved slowly through the meadow, his gaze intent on the flowers that surrounded him. he was picking them, one by one, carefully selecting the most beautiful blooms and holding them in his hand gently. he imagined how you would react. a bright smile for sure, he couldn't wait for that smile. like a ray of sunshine, illuminating the room with its warmth and beauty.

in fact, when he gave you those same flowers, some with their roots still sticking out, dirt under his nails, you smiled. oh you smiled so so brightly, if the sun was still out your smile would've been a fair competitor.

"for me?"

"who else?" he said sheepishly, holding the flowers out to you while looking away. it was quite unnatural for you to see him like this, but you didn't mind really.

"why would you pick them yourself? there are are flower shops for a reason..."

"i didn't like any of the flower arrangements there."

"oh yeah? so what makes your flower arrangement better." you teased. you knew he hadn't thought that hard about it but you were curious to see what he'd come up with on the spot.

"the smoothness of the petals remind me of your soft skin, under my touch–"

"is that so?" you couldn't help giggling, he looked so passionate about it, it felt unreal.

"shh i have more to say. the sweet fragrance of the blooms reminds me of your sweet smiles." he was getting closer to you now, pulling you in by the waist. he didn't even have to whisper for you to hear him.

"shut up." your body shaking with laughter, you could feel a blush burning your cheeks.

"i was reminded of the way you laugh, your head thrown back and eyes sparkling with joy, when i saw the way the petals seemed to dance in the breeze."

he leaned in, lips brushing against yours in a series of small kisses. you giggled, eyes twinkling with delight just as he had said, and you couldn't help but smile. you stayed like that for a moment, lips barely touching, and then you both burst into laughter.

the air was filled with a playful energy, and you were glad you had him with you here, close and warm. you stayed like that for what seemed like an eternity, bodies intertwined in a passionate embrace, and you knew that you had found your home.

✧ will text you at the most random times because he wants attention. you could be in class and he'd text you to come to the secret library and you're like '??? did something happen?', but he just wanted a kiss.

✧ very clingy, but refuses to admit it. he really likes to hold your hand whenever you're near him and likes to lay his head in your lap when he's tired, but whenever you bring it up, he calls those instances 'moments of weakness'. please smack him. (2)

✧ has no qualms about pda; he can and will glue himself to your side wherever you are. izumi is so tired of you at this point, you'll catch him looking at you two with a grimace on his face when you're being affectionate.
