Once the cloak was over his head, the last thing Harry expected was for Cedric to reach out for him, much less to throw his arm around his shoulders and walk together like that. Between the weight of the cloak and Cedric's delicate pressure on him, Harry was having trouble breathing. He tried to form a mental picture of how they must look from the outside, and he checked all sides to make sure no one else was in the forest.
Then he offered to let him get under the cloak. "You're tall, but I think we fit in," Harry made room for Cedric, who hunched just enough for him to cover both of them. “Are you comfortable?”
The smile on his face was an affirmative answer.
Cedric looked in all directions and, as they continued walking, he straightened up and supported all the weight on his own. As if it were an umbrella in the rain, Harry was sheltered between the soft arm behind his head and Cedric's chest that at times crashed against his back. “This is incredible. If it wasn't for the fact that I feel like I'm under a sheet, I'd totally forget that we're invisible.”
"Trust me, when there's someone who shouldn't see you, you gladly remember you are," Harry replied, laughing.
He couldn't see Cedric’s expression but he could sense his tone. “Have you used it many times?”
Impressed, surprised.
“A few. With Ron too.”
Wandering around with his best friend was nothing compared to being with Cedric and his scent that filled the small space. Harry was being really careful not to trip over the cloak or bump into him, but all his efforts disappeared as they seemed to match their steps while talking.
"You've never been caught," Cedric stated, slight amusement in his voice. “I don't know if I want to ask why you had to use it in the first place.”
“No, you definitely don't want to know. You might have to report it.”
"I would never report you."
There wasn't an ounce of doubt.
"Unless I was in danger," Harry said, smiling to himself when the silence proved him right. “Hermione’s like that too. You two have a lot in common. I bet you’d like her.”
"I would tell you first," he declared, suddenly unsteady in his steps. “I bet I would.”
Harry couldn't imagine someone Cedric wouldn't like.
Or someone who wouldn’t like Cedric.
He was so…
He had no words.

Ao3: Always Yours
I think I’m gonna start posting things from part two :)
"I miss Hogwarts," Harry blurted out, unable to avoid his wistful tone.
In all the letters he had written in that time, he had never admitted it.
Cedric remained silent for a moment.
"Not exactly Snape, I must confess," he continued with a joke, self-conscious.
"It's like home to you, isn't it?"
Harry didn't write that because he knew people would feel sad for him, just as he thought Cedric did.
He was embarrassed to answer yes.
“I miss Hogwarts too. My friends. And you.”
The other feeling Harry had…
It would last much longer than a call.

AO3: “The boy in my dreams” (Chapter 12)
Cedric's fit on his shoulder was delicate and firm. Harry was aware that this must be awkward, but he felt more at ease than he thought he should be. The tears had stopped the instant he leaned against him and stayed that way for what seemed like a long time. He wasn't sure how weird it was for Cedric. No emotion could be sensed on his behalf, other than his soft breathing. Harry figured Cedric wouldn't show signs of anything besides courtesy and kindness.
When Harry reluctantly pulled away to face him in embarrassment, Cedric did everything in his power to make the moment pass as if it hadn't been a big deal. The relief he experienced at this was indescribable. That ability Cedric had to make him feel comfortable must be the reason why he was so popular.
Why someone, anyone would want to spend time with him.
Harry was in no rush to leave that space in the middle of the forest.
As if they had the whole afternoon ahead of them, Cedric settled with his legs spread out under the dim sun that filtered through the branches of the trees. "It's nice to see you somewhere other than on a gurney, hurt."
The thought that he wasn't the only one enjoying being there made Harry relax against the ground. Every one of the sensations he had experienced during the minutes he had been in Cedric's arms, with his head on his shoulder, remained etched on his body. It was as if the touch hadn't ended, because he could still feel that pressure and warmth all over.
As if he was under a spell.

I love this chapter so much it was hard to just pick one scene
Twilight meadow-and-forest vibes are there or is it that it never really left my head?
you never offered
a place for me
to stay
but i did anyway.
uninhabitable
and yet i tried.
i didn't make it,
you'll see.
even in the desert,
you need water.
"Sorry. This... I don't…"
Cedric hugged Harry immediately, wrapping his arms over his.
Harry shifted on his chest, adjusting his glasses with one hand while holding onto Cedric's robes with the other. Then he also placed it on his back, hugging Cedric back tightly enough. Considering that they had kissed once, Cedric thought that this was more out of friendship. The thing was, he liked Harry a lot and he didn't know what was right or proper to do anymore.
His judgment was dubious, confused and blurry when it came to Harry.
Still, none of that would stop him now.
"I can't imagine how difficult this must be for you," Cedric murmured into his hair, resting his cheek on top of his head. "I thought you might need a hug,” he explained when they pulled away several minutes later. "I think I should've asked before."
“Of course you can hug me."
Cedric barely resisted the urge of doing it again.
"I needed it. Thank you,” Harry continued and sighed. "This was not what I expected. You should be the champion… I'm sorry, Ced. That I…"
"You didn't put your name. You do not have to apologize…"
"No one will believe me."
The certainty in his voice as he said it.
Cedric wanted to deny it, but he didn't know.
“And they're not going to find a way to get me out of this. A magical contract that I can't break and things like that," Harry repeated the conversation he had with the Headmaster and the others. "Dumbledore has tried, but… I'll have to."
"You won't be alone," Cedric assured, barely holding him by the shoulder. "We will do this together. What do you say?"
"I say… I'm not familiar with the rules yet, but it doesn't sound like it's within them. Karkarov was quite upset that there were two of us instead of just one."
How could he tell him how much he didn't mind “cheating”?
"I guess I'd call it teamwork. We may be alone in the field, but not out of it. You're my friend and I'm not leaving you because of any kind of rule or anything like that, so we're in this together," he said and as he escorted Harry to his common room, Cedric had a couple of ideas that he shared with him: training sessions for the two of them, practice spells and accompany each other.
He wouldn't abandon Harry on his own.
"Yesterday you offered to help me if I was ever in trouble," he recalled, suddenly slowing his pace. "And here I am, way too soon... You were right. I didn't change my mind about that, but… This time I'll accept it."
"This time you can't refuse."
Harry chuckled softly.
One last hug and he passed through the portrait.

There is nothing I love more than rewriting the canon moments but make it hedric's version
Ao3: Always Yours
i wonder if you still miss me
beause i do
but i am too much
of a coward
to find out
since i know
there is no point
sometimes
love has
no point
and that's fine
it does not need to
i miss you
and that's fine too
just the way it's supposed to
i loved you
somehow
in some way
I still do
i don't regret a single thing
besides the usual
not saying
how much you meant
to me
for the thousand time
i wanted endless
words
and we left it
at goodbye
Dude I'm reading 'the boy I love' and finally got past the bit I got to in summer (it's nothing against your fic that I stopped, shit got busy lol). Let me tell you I WAS NOT READY for Malcolm's little speech to Cedric in ch52. He's my favourite character and this scene just captures the exact reason why.
Also, tbh what he's saying is what I feel about my best friends. I love your representation of the fact that you can love someone so damn much and have it not be romantic. Getting into a relationship isn't a 'level up' from best friends, it's a completely different thing and you can love your best friend just as much as your partner.
Knowing that people come back to my work o reread it makes me feel so honored.
Malcolm is my favourite, I have said it before and I will never get tired of saying it. He is highly inspired by my best friend, and their friendship is so like the one I have with her. She was actually the one who taught me the meaning of true, deep and real friendship and I am so happy you have that too. It's not always easy to find.
I just love that both Harry and Cedric know how important their best friends are to each other and don't feel threatened. And how Harry and Cedric's friendship had always been a little different.
writing is just sitting in front of a computer and making up problems for imaginary people while ignoring your own. fun and casual hobby.
