I’ve wanted to make something like this for a while
Stone & Starline - Egg Boss designs
The final chapter of "Chiaki survived her execution but is pissed at class 77B plus Hajime for leading the world to believe they were still remnants" is here, featuring Imposter, Ryota, Komaeda, and Hajime. At this point Chiaki's crying. She doesn't have anything special to say to Imposter, but she chews out Ryota for trying to brainwash the world and creating the device for Junko to use to corrupt her classmates, and questions if he really is as good as an animator or just uses brainwashing to make people think his animation is good. She tears down Komaeda's ideology, noting that no matter how much hope there is she will always feel the despair of being tortured to near death and her former friends turning on the world through their own volition. Finally, she can't even see Hajime as nothing but a vessel for Izuru anymore, saying "the man I loved is dead" and chewing him out for doing nothing as she laid there and nearly died and for putting the other students into a killing game for his own amusement.
oof this one is so much more harsh than the others
Ultimate Imposter:
He’d wanted to try to make her proud in the game…
Though he understood where he went wrong.
He wanted to make it up to her however he could.
Nagito Komaeda:
Nagito wasn’t sure if his mindset would change, but he understood where Chiaki was coming from.
Nothing he could do would erase what she went through.
The world could heal eventually, but she likely wouldn’t.
Hajime Hinata:
…He wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to repair his relationship with Chiaki.
Especially not after the decision to take the blame for so much.
He never should’ve entered the Kamukura Project. That wouldn’t prevented so much.
Ryota Mitarai:
He was shocked by her words, and had to imagine that she didn’t mean them.
…Though he understood where her anger was coming from.
He wished he’d never met Junko and never helped her the way he did.
Makoto's a war criminal is being an argument, and there's nothing I love more then being pedantic, so lets see what Geneva Conventions be argued as broken
For the sake of it I'm going to consider despair vs FF as something akin to a civil war, thus capturing the remnants would be prisoners of war
Convention (III) relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War. Geneva, 12 August 1949.
Article 13 - Humane treatment of prisoners
Prisoners of war must at all times be humanely treated. Any unlawful act or omission by the Detaining Power causing death or seriously endangering the health of a prisoner of war in its custody is prohibited, and will be regarded as a serious breach of the present Convention. In particular, no prisoner of war may be subjected to physical mutilation or to medical or scientific experiments of any kind which are not justified by the medical, dental or hospital treatment of the prisoner concerned and carried out in his interest.
Well those in the Neo World program DEFINITELY were seriously endangered. While you could argue the experimental treatment was done in the interest of the remnants, the fact it went so badly and was illegally administered against the will of Future Foundation definitely breaks this.
Article 22 - Places and conditions of internment
Prisoners of war may be interned only in premises located on land and affording every guarantee of hygiene and healthfulness. Except in particular cases which are justified by the interest of the prisoners themselves, they shall not be interned in penitentiaries. Prisoners of war interned in unhealthy areas, or where the climate is injurious for them, shall be removed as soon as possible to a more favourable climate.
Depending on how safe Jabberwock island is, Makoto may be in violation of this. As a cluster of small artificial islands all of which have been abandoned, how safe is it? Is it at risk of hurricane or giant tropical storms? What are the facilities there? If they're completely on their own can it really be stated they have every guarantee of Hygiene and Healthfulness?
Article 55 - Medical supervision
The fitness of prisoners of war for work shall be periodically verified by medical examinations at least once a month. The examinations shall have particular regard to the nature of the work which prisoners of war are required to do.
Sorry Makoto, Mikan doesn't count I'm pretty sure.
That's at least three war crimes and I'm sure you could find more if you looked harder then I did, but even with the most CHARITABLE reading possible, the Neo World Program is 100% against article 13, he's a war criminal

I'm thinking about that one post that went "Amnesia but you're haunted by your scars" post, talking about how wiping someone's memory in fiction doesn't completely erase the trauma they went through, and I just immediately look to DR2's cast and go "... Yeah."
I think Makoto was well meaning in wanting to wipe their memories of being remnants and putting them in an island paradise, but like. That's not therapy. That's not healing. That's only covering the scars on their hearts with an ill-fitted bandaid.
Even without the KG for that game, I think the Remnants would have like, sensations of fear they can't explain, sensations of trauma they can't address.
I don't think it's cruel to want to erase someone's painful memories... but I don't think that's a solution, either.
HOLY FUCK!!
Jesus! It took us 6 games and 78 spin-offs for Sora to be in Smash Bros! But then again, considering how many loopholes Sakurai made to convince Disney to use Sora was quite respectable.
What version of the game are you playing in your timeline? In mine this exact scene plays out, but with Mario handing the envelope to Terra Branford.
Started out as just "what if Mikan remembering the game means Mikan remembers what she remembered in the game aka she's still Like That when she wakes up?" and then developed into "what if Mikan is offended that everyone denounced Junko....and doesn't think they deserve to have any remnants of her...." thassit just a little idea blurb
I don't want anyone to think I hate Mikan tho she's fun
Fellas, is this canon?
honkee star rail
It is obvious to me and many others that i have a favorite villain archetype
