(WHATS THE HOPE RESTORATION PROJECT THINGY IDK)
A fangame called Hopes Restoration, hold on lemme copy paste
"The story of Hope's Peak, the tale of it's despair and the hope that overcame it, drew to a close with the creation of a new Hope's Peak Academy. A story displaying a series of worldwide conflicts, both caused and resolved by Ultimate students, ended on an uplifting note...but could the world really return to normal that easily? As it turns out, so such luck.
As society began to rebuild itself, talented young people were once again viewed as the hope of the future. To cultivate what remaining hope the world had to offer, the new Hope's Peak Academy, among other ultimate schools were established. However, not everybody was on board with the re-creation of these schools. Many people blamed ultimates for the tragedy occurring in the first place, and feared that history might one day repeat itself. To ease their tensions, the coalition of these prestigious schools devised a plan. A plan to positively influence the reputation of ultimate students in the media by broadcasting the daily lives of a few carefully selected students. They called it: The Hope Restoration Program....but this is Danganronpa isn't it?
When sixteen students come together, it's unlikely that things will go according to plan. Especially when someone else has already found their way into the school."
The final chapter of "Chiaki survived her execution but is pissed at class 77B plus Hajime for leading the world to believe they were still remnants" is here, featuring Imposter, Ryota, Komaeda, and Hajime. At this point Chiaki's crying. She doesn't have anything special to say to Imposter, but she chews out Ryota for trying to brainwash the world and creating the device for Junko to use to corrupt her classmates, and questions if he really is as good as an animator or just uses brainwashing to make people think his animation is good. She tears down Komaeda's ideology, noting that no matter how much hope there is she will always feel the despair of being tortured to near death and her former friends turning on the world through their own volition. Finally, she can't even see Hajime as nothing but a vessel for Izuru anymore, saying "the man I loved is dead" and chewing him out for doing nothing as she laid there and nearly died and for putting the other students into a killing game for his own amusement.
oof this one is so much more harsh than the others
Ultimate Imposter:
He’d wanted to try to make her proud in the game…
Though he understood where he went wrong.
He wanted to make it up to her however he could.
Nagito Komaeda:
Nagito wasn’t sure if his mindset would change, but he understood where Chiaki was coming from.
Nothing he could do would erase what she went through.
The world could heal eventually, but she likely wouldn’t.
Hajime Hinata:
…He wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to repair his relationship with Chiaki.
Especially not after the decision to take the blame for so much.
He never should’ve entered the Kamukura Project. That wouldn’t prevented so much.
Ryota Mitarai:
He was shocked by her words, and had to imagine that she didn’t mean them.
…Though he understood where her anger was coming from.
He wished he’d never met Junko and never helped her the way he did.
One of my favorite things about Ultra Despair Girls is listening to the kid characters talk.
Like Jataro and Kotoko especially just ramble on and on about weird shit because their attention spans are still at this young age. Even Monaca just automatically gets bored with something if it fails to properly catch her attention. Nagisa doesn’t typically display this trait out of all of them because of his childhood and how he was pretty much raised by abusive parents to be an overachieving perfectionist to even get any scrap of worth or acceptance from them.
So many kid characters in anime are boring or there to be all cutesy. I really love that the Warriors of Hope are just… really gross and absent-minded. It’s not that they aren’t clever or anything, but their imaginations are at the age of just being on overdrive and so they go on tangents or lose interest and think of something better, cutting off their current thought processes…
Like Kotoko just has to tell everyone what her favorite food is and also what her least favorite food is and what she thinks about giraffes or eggs… and that’s just funny and cool of her. Hell, I love it even when the kiddy stuff covers up darker things like Masaru’s design of this standard shounen-esque kiddo with the little bandaids and scratches look is really hiding an outwardly and physically abused child.
It’s just really neat is all.
I've been on a bit of a Danganronpa kick lately, and I wanted to share some thoughts I remembered (originally from 2022).
I am having a hard time believing that the whole world outside of Japan also suffered from the same total societal collapse (+ brainwashing?) that Japan fell to. Yes, I can imagine that countries with particularly close ties to Japan could suffer greatly, some perhaps even falling to civil conflict, but I'm not sure if I buy the totality of it, especially in the countries more isolated from the outside world (eg. Cuba), or ones with draconian censorship regimes (eg. China). The developing countries in particular I imagine would be spared most of the brainwashing, instead taking the brunt of the damage from the worldwide economic crisis, which yes it would also end in blood, but -- if I allow myself to be cynical for a moment -- nothing that particularly exceeds the scale of the wars and genocides we've seen there in the late 20th century. Really, the less culturally connected a country is to Japan, the less brainwashed its populace should probably be, given how Japanese Hope's Peak student body is. And, especially in the developed countries, this is probably where the effects of the Tragedy are the lightest, allowing them to gather themselves relatively quickly and act as starting points for rebuilding the world. Which honestly provides interesting story material on its own, as many of these governments could have visions of the post-Tragedy world that conflict with the Future Foundation's and each other's...
This is going to be a direct criticism of the Future Foundation now: of their 14 divisions, none of them are tasked with rebuilding of governments, local and national institutions of power. Almost as if they planned on ruling the world indefinitely after defeating Despair. And the fact that they don't seem to have a plan for handing over power makes me fear for how the world would actually look after their victory at the end of DR3. And when people start demanding a say in how they're governed, how will they respond? Will they respond to these protests like Hope's Peak did to the Parade, and set up another Tragedy as a result? Will they hastily restore status quo ante, with all its systemic failures that allowed Despair to fester and set up a Tragedy reprise, just further down the line than the first option? Because fixing these systemic problems is a work that should be started Day 1 of the Foundation's operations, to have a proper plan that adequately addresses them. And, like I said, they don't seem to have any kind of team dedicated to making such a plan.
I know this is a long ask, but I needed to get all of this off my chest. Thank you for your time, and have a nice day.
I agree with u. DR3 has so many issues
The Remnants having gaps in their memories yes, so do the survivors.
Infact the only one with intact memories is Komaru (and Sho but given the game they have gaps).
She is the only one who retains her memories of the past years.
And she's also had to witness both games as they were televised.
She's always overthinking her words and afraid she's going to accidentally trigger someone.
During her time in captivity, Komaru wrote a diary of both her daily life and everything she saw.
She's never been both greatful and disgusted before.
On countless occasions she's considered burning it because the information is too personal. It's not something she should even have nevermind witnessed, but she can't...
Komaru has had the Warriors of Hope, because they remember as well, promise that they won't bring up the games or anything that happened during the last few years.
When you see the Remnants, pretend its the first time you're meeting them.
They promise before hugging her because they can see their big sis is so afraid, and Komaru hugs them back.
They've all grown up, somewhere along the line she grew up too.
She refuses to forget what she saw.
Nor will she ever voice it.
Her big brother almost died... Multiple times, Komaru would fight every monobot on earth single-handedly if it meant keeping Makoto safe.
She can't protect him forever, she hasn't been able to protect him for a long time.
But this is all she can do.
Komaru bared witness to the worst event humanity has ever known, and she can't look away.
A day will come when they ask her, and she'll have to respond. She can't lie hide it from them forever.
But whenever she sees the smiles of the Remnants, when Toko and Makoto are at ease, she wishes she could.
DANG and his buddy RONPA
Wanted to draw the RPG look for them from Jataros artworks and decided to add Servant too for fun
*pant!* *pant!* *pant!*
*Makoto is heavily outmatched by the duo of Celeste and Tsumugi, especially in the dark setting, but no matter what, he refuses to give up or run away, spurred on by the thought of causing the two of them immeasurable pain.
Erase me...Yeah, right... As if!
I'm the Ultimate Hope! Good fucking luck trying to wear me down!
GAGH!
AGH!
*Makoto gets hit in the shin with something hard and topples. He quickly rolls out of the way to avoid being shot at subsequently!
You know...the fact that you keep having to repeat that fact makes me think otherwise...You're disappointing Makoto...
Stop hiding behind my FRIENDS FACES!
*He throws a punch, but Tsumugi disappears into blackness again. Instead, his fist just collides with an invisible wall which he assumes is Celeste's dress.
Oh please...as if you have any right to call us your friends anymore...!
Grrrgh! RAAGH!
*He tries again. Same result.
Byakuya: In fact, I'm pretty sure because of what we've done...We'd all hate you Makoto...
And Mukuro would hate you too...
DON'T YOU DARE SAY HER NAME! UUGH!
*Makoto chases Tsumugi through the darkness, but gets tripped up again. He looks up to see Tsumugi learing down at him.
Ultimate Hope? Hero? Give me a break, you DROPPED US down an elevator shaft!
Yeah, well, apparently so did Uchui! And we did it for the same reason! To PROTECT THEM!
*WOOOSH!*
Since when was it up to you to decide what's best for us?
*WOOOSH!*
You're NOT special Makoto...You had ONE good moment in your life during the killing game, but what else did you do during it? You couldn't protect Sayaka, nor could you stop any of the murders! If you're really the hero you think you are, why don't you show it!?
RAAGGH!
*He once again tries to throw a punch, but Tsumugi jumps back and shifts again.
I was the BEST and most amazing the Future Foundation ever had to offer, but I gave up my life, so YOU could thrive! USELESS, PATHETIC MAKOTO got a chance to live a full life!
*WOOOSH!*
That's all we ever do, and it's why you keep us around! You protect our lives so that we may become sacrifices for yours! So that YOU can be happy!
THAT'S BULLSHIT!
*Makoto leaps up and attacks again, but this time, Tsumugi catches his fist. His punch is heavy though, and she's slightly faltered by it.
Everything I have ever done is for the express purpose of saving this world, and protecting the friends and family that I love! EVERYTHING comes from that want!
Well, you have done a MARVELOUS job, haven't you?
Ugh!
*Tsumugi throws a punch back, then starts darting between the shelves, rapidly shifting as she does.
You couldn't save me...!
*WOOSH!*
You COULDN'T stop me!
*WOOSH!*
Where were YOU when Jabberwock Island got destroyed!?
*WOOSH!*
Where were you when my friends were being kidnapped!?
*WOOSH!*
Nagito: Were you there when I attacked Kyoto and left Hajime Hinata to die!? NO!
*WOOSH!*
Did you stop Emilia Feng!? Did you even TRY to stop Kuripa Kurafto!? NO! You turned on ME! YOUR OWN SISTER!
SHUT THE FUCK UP! NONE OF THAT IS TRUE!
*Makoto, in a blind rage and panic, starts destroying the shelves around him, but this doesn't help an awful lot. Tsumugi just continues her tormenting.
HOLY FUCK!!
Jesus! It took us 6 games and 78 spin-offs for Sora to be in Smash Bros! But then again, considering how many loopholes Sakurai made to convince Disney to use Sora was quite respectable.
What version of the game are you playing in your timeline? In mine this exact scene plays out, but with Mario handing the envelope to Terra Branford.
Post Game AU where ppl wake up to consequences
Misc Notes
The survivors wake up with all their memories. They wake up on Jabberwock island. Same building structures but it's clearly been abandoned. The only building not in a state of disrepair is the lab they were hosted in.
Sonia immediately has a mental breakdown and sequesters herself in her room.
Akane is too frail to move but mentally she's doing as well as you can hope. Kazuichi cries for couple of days but throws himself into making the island suitable for living.
Fuyuhiko and Hajime compartmentalizes the fastest and leads the group.
After months, Hajime is able to wake up the first person: Gundham. He then wakes them up in term of who's been dead the shortest time in the NWP. Nagito and Peko's mind been shattered from the physical/mental trauma so Hajime leaves them for last.
Sonia avoids Gundham because he wakes up without memories from the tragedy. He reminds her of good days she doesn't deserve anymore.
Kazuichi help Sonia a lot. It's ironic because this is technically what he wanted but now he's hates it. He convinces Sonia not to avoid Gundham.
Blah blah blah I wanna help my cousin this, I wanna help Monaca that. If your words are genuine why not joined despair Miaya? It could be fun, plus I don't think you'll win her over by apealing to her "morals" is gonna help you.
Yeah, right? You're basically already there at this point.
Back up a minute. You said something about "my" method of brainwashing?
Yeah with your thingie. The...New Universe Simulation or whatever?
That's not true at all...! The Neo World Program doesn't brainwash people, it undoes brainwashing!
Hmmm, are you sure? Brainwashing in its simplest terms, is making someone change their personality to your liking. And isn't that what you did to the Remnants? You didn't like them being Despair so you changed them?
What?! You have no idea what you're talking about! It was designed as a psychotherapeutic simulator to undo trauma and triggering memories for the users! That's exactly why we used it on the Remnants of Despair!
.....Okay Auntie, let's play a little game here.
Let's say for instance, the Remnants of Despair weren't brainwashed. And that Big Sis Junko just merely...talked them into becoming the big bad terrorists you know them as today. Would you still use the program for them anyway?
Well....yes, but-
But why? They're not under some mind control or order from others. They would be fully cognizant of their actions. Morals and all. There'd be no way to know for certain what those guys would be thinking.
To that end, let's go further. Who would you use this on? Serial killers? Predators? Embezzlers? Gang members? Other terrorists? Where does it end?
You'd be replacing other people's already preconception of ideals and making them have new ones to better fit your image! See? Brainwashing! Plain and simple~
They have a term for this sort of thing. I think it's called...Death of Personality.
And I get a feeling, you'd want to use this on me too, huh? Riiiiiight?
Wh-What?!
Mhmm, mhmm!~ That's why you're so adamant about getting me on your side. So you can shove me in a pod and make little old Monaca a "proper" little girl. My my, even you want to use Monaca too for your own purposes, Auntie!~
Listen to yourself, that is absurd! I...would never....do something like that to you-
So say it.
!
Go ahead. Say you never had the thought. Say you'd tell me everything about my past life, and all about Big Sis Junko in that case. Go on. Lie to my face.
I.....I wouldn't.....
...........
I.....I'd....n-never....
......
.......
........
Uuuuuh-huh! Just what I thought. Adults are all the same! Only interested in what they want and what better suits them!
Monaca: Ahahahahahaha!
