It took me 2 weeks to complete this Avatar 3 concept art. I called it "The Chosen One". I hope you like it! š
Read the first chapter of āFrom sky to seaā , a fanfic written by @eirianerisdar , I got inspired to make a tiny AU. I present Metkayina!Spider āØ
In this AU, Tonowari, while visiting in the Omatekaya, had found young Spider in the area and after growing attached to him, decided that he had to take the boy and so, without much resistance, he did. Years later, the blonde blossoms into a fine young man, famous for his physical strength and industriousness (or more like stubbornness), but his past comes back to haunt him when the Sully family begs for refuge in Awaāatlu. He reconnects with his old friends and eventually faces the clone of his biological father. What will happen thenā¦?..
Who knows! Headcannon time š
Deep inside, Spider is afraid that if he doesnāt do his damn best and work hard, he might loose his place among the people. He often pulls way more than his weight and exhausts himself, so the rest of the fam make sure to reassure him about it.
Heās a very chill older sibling. While fairly responsible, heās still quite playful and is known as the āvillage jesterā. Very good with little kids and loves entertaining them. Will not stop his siblings from getting themselves into trouble but will tell them that whatever theyāre about to do is stupid af.
He and Aonung bully each other CONSTANTLY. Aonung is a little shit, but Spider had learned to fire back. Hates it when he and his gang of jocks pester people and bluntly calls him out on it. They fight a lot because of that, especially when the Sullys arrive.
Aonung may or may not be jealous that the sully siblings get along with Spider so well. He wishes he could have a relationship as open as they do and hates Kiri the most because of that. That girl and the blonde become practically inseparable when they reunite and it rubs him the wrong way.
With Tsierya, Spider turns into the biggest hype-man. He supports and complements her constantly, as well as does her hair. Their relationship pisses Aonung off as well.
When the Sullys arrive and Spider reconnects with them, she begins feeling a bit insecure. She knows that her big bro comes from the forest and often misses it, so in her darkest moments she gets scared that the boy might leave with them when the threat blows over. She doesnāt voice her concerns though, as she does not want to ruin her siblingās fun.
Ronal was initially wary of the demon boy, but he grew on her, especially when she heard of all the neglect heās endured. It did not feel right to leave such a sweet kid up to fate and now he is her son as much as Aonung. He helps her with the chores a lot and even opts to tag along with her and Tsireya when they cook. It makes for good bonding time.
It is more difficult with Tonowari, though. On one hand, this man saw Spider at his worst, his rock bottom, when he was an abandoned nobody, but on the other, heās still a chief and The blonde wants to make him proud and show that he did not make a mistake when adopting him. Tonowari tries not to let his son spiral though, and reassured him that all he wants for him is to be happy, as he wants that for all of his children.
āWhat happened to his chest tho?ā
A skimming incident š I will not elaborate

@cyren-myadd to answer your questions about this au.
Quaritch wouldn't know if the kid is his. Back in the day, he nearly beat the shit out of Phillip Shaw for messing around with one of his female soldiers. So when he sees this kid with blonde hair, exactly the same shade as Phillip's pansy ass, he jumps to the wrong conclusion, assuming Phillip is the father of this little twerp. He also mistakenly assumes that Miles Socorro must have died on Pandora, because in his mind, there's no way a human child could survive on this planet.
I donāt see the RDA being too interested in who Julian belongs to, either. They're only focused on getting information about Jake Sullyās location. I can still see Quaritch taking Julian out of there like he did in the movie, but it's a manipulative move, not paternal in any way. And even if he does find out Spider is his son, heād keep that information to himself. Thatās a lot to process. However, he does plan on telling him once the heat dies down and Jake is strung up by his feet. Quaritch needs Julian focused, and he doesn't have time for emotional conversations when he's supposed to be tracking down Jake. He DOES start being a little nicer to Julian, but is still being manipulative to keep Julian reliant on him.
As for Norm, he would fight tooth and nail to find his pseudo-nephew. Heād even go so far as to join the battle in search of Spider, which leads to a confrontation with Quaritch, whoās holding Kiri hostage on the Sea Dragon. Before Quaritch can utter a single word about Spiderās parentage, Norm body-slams him from behind. When I say heās willing to sacrifice himself and fight to keep that secret hidden, I mean it.
Kiri is freed during the scuffle and scurries away. Then itās an all-out brawl with Norm clawing at Quaritch like a madman, because heāll be damned if this piece of shit spills the beans and ruins Julian's life. Norm is injured, but he wounds Quaritch badly, nearly tearing his throat open and even trying to rip out his tongue to silence him.
(Quaritch still manages to escape, but whether or not he succumbed to the injuries Norm gave to him is unknown.)
Normās uncharacteristic brutality raises suspicion in Julian, who has never seen his guardian act like this. Maybe even Jake starts questioning Normās extreme dedication to finding Julian and fighting Quaritch like a goddamned Thanator. Norm stays tight-lipped, but I have this idea where Moāat eventually spills the truth. Sheās not stupid; sheās known for a while that Norm was hiding something, and she bullied Norm into letting her accompany him to the Metkayina's territory so that she could talk to the boy herself and do some extreme mediating. She's allowed this to go on long enough. No more.
She would have a long, serious talk with Jake and Neytiri, urging them to see Julian beyond his bloodline. Iām not sure how that will play out, but questions are answered, and Normās relationship with Spider is put to the testā¦this isn't going to end smoothly, and tensions are high, especially with Neteyam seriously injured.
But I swear this has a happy ending!
After the truth comes out, thereās tension and frayed trust. Julian pulls away from Norm, confused and upset, not just about the lie, but about having the story of his BIRTH constructed and shabbily patched together like an infected wound, and making him believe for YEARS that he was someone else's son!! This isn't just something that can be washed away with a kiss and a hug.
Julian's life was built on a lie, and even though Norm did this for his protection, it still hurts and makes him feel like an impostor.
Jake and Neytiri are stunned too, especially Neytiri, who struggles with the idea of this child, a friend and brother to her children, being connected to the man who caused her family so much pain. Jake feels betrayed, and he and Norm have a huge argument. Norm feels guilty, but is largely unrepentant and says some hurtful things when their argument gets vicious. "So what if I lied! You lied, too, Jake! You lied, and hundreds died! I wasn't going to let Julian hold your bag AND Quaritch's! Everything I did, I did for Julian!" THAT almost has the two go to blows, and Tonowari is forced to step in.
But it doesnāt stay that way.
Norm doesnāt give up. Even with his injuries, he shows up for Julian, again and again, not asking for forgiveness but simply proving, with quiet consistency, that he loves Julian. Neytiri remains distant for a time, but Mo'at and maybe even Kiri bridge that gap. Once again, Neytiri's trauma is real, and some time away from Julian AND Norm is needed for her mental health. It's going to take a year or two (maybe three) until Julian and Norm and the Sullys can look at each other without flinching. Kiri is the only one not majorly affected because she's attached to Julian and sees him as her full-blooded brother. It's the same for Lo'ak and Neteyam, but this information puts them in a really weird headspace.
What is with the tiktok side of the avatar fandom and their weird obsession over hating on Spider, referring to him as dirty, picturing him as the sully familyās unwanted / disgusting dog or just generally wanting him to die āespecially if it would get them Neteyam back. My boy does not deserve this.
I am currently bouncing off the walls thinking about Spider forging his own path and creating his own family of misfits and outcasts, both Na'vi and human.
Instead of remaining caught between two worlds that refuse to fully claim him, Spider chooses to carve out his own spaceāhis own homeāamong outcasts who, like him, never fit into the structures of either the RDA or the Naāvi. These outsiders were either set aside or left.
Imagine this blue-striped human quietly slipping away one night, leaving behind Hellās Gate and the Omatikaya with nothing but a pack slung over his shoulder and a determined heart. He treks deep into the wilds of Pandora, following instincts honed from a past life, seeking others like himāthose abandoned, cast aside, or seeking something greater than survival under someone elseās thumb.
At first, itās only three of themāSpider, an ex-RDA scientist who defected, and a Naāvi warrior shunned by their clan for challenging tradition. Together, they build a home high in the mountains, tucked between floating cliffs and waterfalls where neither the RDA nor any hostile clan can reach them easily. They hunt, they craft, they surviveāand then they grow.
More come. A lone Naāvi mother with her child, fleeing persecution. A human engineer who sabotaged RDA equipment before running into the wilds. A pair of Naāvi twins whose father was an avatar and whose clan cast them out for it. Orphans. Runaways. The lost and forgotten.
Spider becomes their leader, not because he craves power, but because he understands their pain better than anyone. Together, they thrive and live free, far from the chaos of their past. They build something beautifulāa village woven into the mountains, suspended on bridges of vine and wood, with glowing bioluminescent lanterns lighting the bridges and paths at night. Their home hums with laughter, music, and the quiet, unshakable bond of a family built by choice rather than blood.
And when Spider finds orphaned human childrenāabandoned by war, unwanted by both sidesāhe takes them in. He raises them as his own, refusing to let another child endure the loneliness and rejection he once did.
By the time anyone realizes what heās done, his little village is no longer little. It is a thriving community of hundreds, a sanctuary for those without a place. The RDA cannot touch them. The Naāvi clans leave them be. Some fear them, some scoff at them. Othersāthose who have known suffering and lonelinessāseek them out, hoping to start anew. Eywa graces them all with her many blessings, and for the first time, Spider finally has a place to call home. And when the day comes that war reaches their doorstep, Spider stands at the front with his newfound family, no longer a boy without a home but a leader, a protector, a brother to those who were once lost like him.
Lord, I have never written so much about one character ever.
Here my first try to draw an albino Na'vi. Because she has no pigments, she doesn't have any stripes. It was really challenging but I think she looks cute š
@yararts and I are planning to make the oldest daughter of the Queen an Albino. This comes of course with a lot of health challenges.
We will tell you more about it in the future š„°
(if I don't post much these days, it's coz of my wrist hurting again. Sorry)
I just watched Avatar: The Way of Water and came up with this bittersweet time-traveling au where Spider chooses to go his own way and practice self-care instead of staying where he is not wanted.
Imagine.
Spiderās last memory is the cold bite of Neytiriās blade against his throat, her amber eyes filled with fury and grief. Thenānothing.
Yet, death does not claim him.
Instead, he awakens beneath the bioluminescent embrace of the Tree of Souls, his body weightless, his soul adrift. Eywaās presence is everywhereāvast, ancient, and sorrowful. She tells him that his life was taken before its time, that he has honored her ways, and that she has always loved him. Eywa wants him to live again. To see the world beyond the forests and accept her blessings. He was meant for more.
And so, she gives him a choice: fade into the great cycle, or return.
Spider wakes gasping, his lungsāhis human lungsāfilling with Pandoraās air as if he had been born to breathe it. His mask is gone, yet he does not choke. Beside him, a presence stirsāan ikran, its sleek form rippling with twilight hues, its golden eyes locking onto his. It was his. Bonded. A gift, not tamed but chosen. Eywa's final gift.
Spider does not return to Hellās Gate. He does not return to the Omatikaya. He takes to the skies, his ikran, his brother, carrying him over endless oceans and floating mountains, through mist-laden valleys and deep, untouched jungles. Spider becomes a phantom, a whisper in the trees, a shadow glimpsed soaring across the moons of Pandora, a traveling hermit always quick to spin a tale or offer advice.
Stories spreadāof a lone human who flies Eywaās skies and walks her lands without fear, a human who rides the largest ikran ever seen and calls it "brother," a human whose love for Eywa was so strong that she blessed him. Some call him a myth. Others, a ghost. The Na'vi speak of him in hushed voices, wondering if he was a sign of Eywaās favor or her weapon against the humans who seek to corrupt her world.
Spider never sought out a home, but wherever he went, Pandora embraced him. Not as a human. Not as a stray. But as himselfāthe human who chose Pandora, and whom Pandora chose in return.
in other news i canāt be the only one weirded out by the theories and fanart that make Varang and the Mangkwan seem like evil, animalistic beasties, right? itās weird, right? like the theories that they eat people or are going to torture Neytiri/the kids or cut off peopleās huru or limbs, thatās weird right? iāve even seen theories on discord speculating that theyāre somehow biologically āless intelligentā and āmore brutalā and i. woah perhaps we should unpack this
Watching Quaritch brutalize the ta'unui idk how anyone can like this man
