Sans and Papyrus tutorial!
Alrighty! You asked me how I draw the skelebros and I’ve never really done tutorials before but WOW I had fun doing this one 8’D I hope you guys like it!
Also I’m sorry to ask this but this took pretty long to do and I think people usually reserve tutorials like these for tier rewards on Patreon, so if you can, please donate on my ko-fi! (HUGE THANKS to @wildunderbeastly for giving me my first ko-fi!! <3)
Otherwise, please support me on Patreon with $1 tiers! I’m still setting it up and figuring things out though but every bit counts! I’ll be posting stuff as regularly as I can~
I could’ve kept this for Patreon but decided to leave this public because I just really wanted to help anyone who has trouble drawing them because I know I sure as hell did and I know your pain, so I put in as many helpful tips as I could 💖 Again, you don’t have to strictly follow these, take it as a guide and go from there. Let me know if I can help with anything else!
I respectfully give headpats and a coffe as an ex-part timer I know the struggles XD
Do you guys remember Part-Timer....?
I HAVE A DISCORD SERVER NOW✨

the link should last forever- but if i stops working please tell me so i can fix it xD
Hi bluechocowitz any tips on how you draw character/body?
I could try?? givin some tips?? i’m really not the best at these things but these are just how i draw my characters. Best way to look for the Best™ Style for you is to explore yourself and see which one you’re most comfortable with!
and since this is how i draw, i’ll be using the skeleboys
oh yeah this is gonna be a super long post so i’ll put it under a thing before it gets too long ahaha
first thing is to draw the basic anatomy of em, is it called anatomy? gjhf
the base of it! there. So the my process (by color) is purple, green, pink, blue.
The purple lines provide some sorta line of symmetry. for the it looks nice purposes. and also the head ball, which i think is super important!! these two will set up things like height, direction in which the character is facing, and other stuff like that.
next are the green parts! that’s for the lineart. but i started with the head first cause that’s what i usually use to plot out the the pink and blue lines. it gives something to compare to, size-wise! with this, your shoulder lengths will be more accurate, your legs wont be shorter than the neck, and etc!
I always put the eyes along the horizontal purple lines! to show where they’re facing, and the vertical ones help me place the nose! different characters have different head shapes tho! like these two for instance

Dust thought he was seeing things till Ink spoke up.” You have both of your eyes… t-that is going against your cannon…” He said as he let Horror’s face go. Horror looked down at his hands a bit as he opened and closed them, he was in awe with the fact he could see before he smirked and stood up. “Ho-” Dust was cut off as Horror quickly spun around, his eye lights shining his old signature blue and yellow as his hand glowed with blue magic, with a wave of his hand a gaster blaster formed, but it looked unstable as it got ready for a blast. It sounded as if it was a low growl instead of the signature lazer sound. Hearing this Shift sighed as he avoided Killer and Blue. “Now that’s no fun!” He said with a pout as the blaster finally let out the blast, Shift just stood there, rolled his eyes as he held up a pocket watch. “Pause.” He said as she clocked the dial on the watch, as soon as he did everything went gray and the only soft ticking sound of a clock rang out. “Always having to pull out the blasters…” He said as he moved to the side as he crossed his arms behind his back to look at everyone. He examined the five without touching them but with a sigh he leaned against Horror’s back as he crossed his arms over his chest. “I wonder… how the other two are doing..” He mumbled a bit with a bored look on his skull only to have his sockets widen when he senses something, quickly he hopped up onto horror’s back and looked around, expecting Ink to have broken free. but when blue thread shot out from a portal and grabbed onto his soul he was soon yanked off of Horror’s back and slammed into the ground. Groaning Shift looked up with a smirk on his skull. Error was sitting on some strings that held him up as he had some chocolate in his mouth. “So… you’re the anomaly that is giving Ink some trouble.” He said with a glare.
Lust and killer were sitting on a bench in outtertale one of the neutural AU'S Killer's arm wrapped around Lust's shoulders in a friendly way as Lust leaned into him, they were enjoying their time together till a group of monsters started to cat call lust, making him feel self conscious in his out fit, seeing this Killer would raise his hand up making knives appear spinning around his hand till Lust just gently gripped his shoulder. Killer would just nod as he closed his hand into a fist, making the knives disappear. they were silent for a while till killer spoke up. "Why won't you let me defend you...?" He asked making Lust laugh a bit. "Your idea of defending me is to dust who ever the offender is." He said as Killer laughed a bit. "Ya well it's the best way to shut them up!" He said proudly making dust roll his eyes a bit before he looked out into space, lost in thought. "How do you do it?" Lust asked in a soft tome making Killer look at him confused. "Do what?" He asked as Lust pulled away from him. "You know, all of THIS!" He said as he gestured to all of him. "Killer laughed a bit as he put his chin on his hand and struck a dramatic pose. "What? being a sexy to all hell?" He joked but lust just crossed his arms ar him. "No.... the confidance... how do you do it?" Lust asked as Killer thought a bit. he knew what lust meant and... even he didn't know how he does it. "...I don't know..." He said as he rested his elbows on his knees as he leaned forward. "Sometimes it's easy and others it's not... It just depends on who I am around I guess.... like with Dust and Horror I can kill easy with them around because I know they have my back in the feild... with you I can be more calm like...." He looked down and gripped his shirt a bit. "Like how you used to be?" Lust asked as he gently rubbed Killer's back Killer just nodded. "Ya was all he said for a while till he turned to lust. "But you are confident enough!" He said making Lust give him a confused look. "You're confident in your own way! you can walk up to strangers and strike up a conversation easily! you can hold your drink down, and when you put your mind to something you want you do your best to get it. but most of all you're not afraid to show affection out in public" Killer said as he leaned back onto the bench. "That is the kind of confidance I wish to have some day." He said making Lust laugh as he leaned against him again. Killer nuzzled against his head a bit as he wrapped his arms around Lust once again. "love you." Lust said making killer smile. he knew Lust meant it in a platonic way as he kissed the side of his head. "Love you too." He said as he pressed his cheek against Lust's head as they watched the stars in the sky.
hey guys
i think we should talk about killer + lust friendship more :)
Okay so like how the hell do YOU specifically draw skeletons. My friend showed me but it seems like your way is different. I am not into sans aus but I have a couple skeleton ocs

Alright, so as it says the best was to start out is to draw the “line of action”. I drew a few different examples of lines of action going through different sketches (the bright blue line). This line represents the way the figure will move, and usually starting at the head and following the most prominent foot. However sometimes it will follow one hand to the other hand, or one hand to one foot, depending on the pose.
Let’s do a simple pose, though, just for the purposes of teaching.
This step does not have to be perfect. Think if it as a guildline for the rest of the drawing. Use the line of action to determine how you want the figure to pose.
Keep it loose! It doesn’t need to be neat and tidy. Also, remind that a figure like sans is three dimensional, so add guildlines to help you remember to keep him that way.
Another thing to keep in mind at this step is the height. You have probably heard that humans are 8 heads tall. And this is where I call malarkey on that. In a perfectly proportioned world, every human would be 8 heads tall. However, that would make us all look like Greek gods and superman. Women typically range about six to six and a half heads tall while men range six and a half to 7 heads tall. (Sans is both short and squat so he is 6 heads tall in my mind.)
This is where we deviate from a traditional figure. Sans is made of bones and doesn’t have a waist to draw, so while normally this is where you’d add the stomach and any chub to the figure, Sans is just bone.
This also doesn’t have to be perfect! This is a guildline for the final drawing, so don’t stress yourself out.
For the next bit, I switched my pen up in Krita, before I was using a regular “Ink pen” to make everything more obvious and easier to see, now I used the pencil tool, because it’s easier to get the details and thin lines I want.
Some thing I’ve noticed looking at beginners art (and at my old art) is that clothes are a pain in the butt to get right. I still struggle. Often times I see clothes that look more plastered on to bodies instead of the figure wearing them. The best way to avoid this is to use the 3D guide you drew and make sure the clothes follow the contours of the body. Sans doesn’t have a stomach, so his shirt is more likely to have a deep wrinkle between his ribs and pelvis.
A good way to get good at drawing clothes is to use lots of references. Like pictures from fashion magazines or just fashion blogs where people take pictures if their clothes. That way you can see the way the clothes work on the human form. (I don’t recommend using drawn references, because it’s better observe from real life)
Another important part of this step is facial features and expressions. Part of why I like drawing Sans is because his expressions are sometimes hard to come up with. It’s a good idea to match expressions with the way you poses the figure. I drew him pretty relaxed, so I gave him a relaxed expression. Another expression I could have used was sheepish, having him look off to the sad. Or maybe even sad, with less of a smile, looking a bit more down. It’s good to experiment and see what you like as well.
I’m next just going to talk about basic coloring (because this isn’t about coloring) so if you want a full coloring tutorial, let me know.
Sans has a very basic color scheme, and therefore I have fun playing around with styles of his clothes more. However, a good tip to remember is coloring, try and desaturated you colors, meaning that instead of choosing the brightest blue or green, slide that color slider over and pick a one mixed with grey. A tint or shade of that color. It looks much better on the eye.
For shading, you’re going to want to place your light source some where. Whether it be over heard, off to the side, or down below, just know that the side you put the light source on is where the light is and on the other side is where the shadow is. For beginners I recommend having a physical remind of the light source (like my light bulb drawing) to remind you of where you want to shade, but as you get better, you won’t need to anymore.
As a personal choice, I don’t use black as a shadow color. I use mostly blue or purple. I recommend trying it to see if you like it, because to me it looks more realistic.
Please remember that is this is just how I draw, and it’s not how everyone has to do it! And I encourage all artists to find their own way of doing things, but sometimes you need a little guidance. So I hope this helps.
If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, let me know. Also, let me know if you want to see another tutorial like this, and if so, of what?
yeey! and i am working on the first draft right now and thinking of how Cross even knows about cherry blossom trees and the legends surrounding them ^^
i was wondering if it was alright to type up a little story for your cross under the cherry blossom tree?
!!! Yes ofc!! I'd love to read it when you're done!!
He said as he looked up at the group. His eye lights move like those of a clock face. "We don't care who you are! what did you do to the boss!" killer demanded as he gestured to Nightmare. "Oh I made it so that he and his brother have been frozen in time!." He said and in a blink of an eye he was now laying on one of nightmare's tentacle's. "I have been watching the fabric of time for sooo long..." He held his hand up and let a cloth run in between his Phalanges before he gripped it tightly, almost ripping it. "It got boring..." He said with his tone going flat before he was now as he was gone once again in a blink of an eye. He was now standing a few feet from the others as they whipped around to turn to him when he spoke again. "But! I plan to make some changes to that!" He said happily as he held one arm behind his back and snapped his Phalanges. In doing so Dream and Nightmare were unfrozen as they attacked one another, but seeing the others were distracted the two turned to see what they were staring at. Shift just smiled at them and waved at them as if he was an old friend of theirs. "Now... let's rewind this nightmare... Into a new dream." He said as his eye lights disappeared and a wide sadistic grin spread across his skull as he held his hand up and with another snap of his Phalanges a ball of cloth appeared behind the group, making them jump and look at it, the cloth was tan in color till it started to change into yellow and purple, Voices from Dream's and Nightmare's past filled the area as the cloth unfurled from the ball showing key events from their shared past. Dream and Nightmare went pale at seeing their past play out in front of them, happy and painful memories showing on the cloth as if it was a reel to a movie. "Boss..." Dust said with rising concern in his normally flat toned voice. but Nightmare didn't hear him as he held his head as memories of what happened filled his head, from the name calling and then to his eventual death. but he snarled and looked at Shift. "You think you can play mind games on me! I am the King of negativity! this will do nothing to me!" He yelled as he raised his right hand and cut the air with it as he spoke. Shift just smiled at him, and that made Nightmare go on edge as he backed up and stood protectively in front of those he was in charge of. "You think I just wanted you to see your past... no... I want you to relive it!" Shift yelled as four bolts tore out of the cloth. A sickening sound of them sinking into bone rang thought the air as Dream yelled in pain as his arms dropped to his sides. two of the bolts had hooked onto the bones in his arms while for Nightmare he blocked the bolts from hitting Killer, only for them to sink deep into his shoulder blades. "Dream/Boss!" the five yelled as they tried to tend to their fallen comrades but it was all for nothing as the chains connected to the bolts started to slowly pull them into the cloth, the five tried to stop the chains, even tried breaking them, but nothing put a scratch on them, and desperately Dust clung onto nightmare as the chains started to pull nightmare to the cloth while Blue did the same to dream. But for both of them, their grip slipped and the two were pulled into the fabric of time that they had left behind. All the two could hear was their friends and comrades yell their names out, and for the first time, they saw the fear on the guardian's faces, before the cloth enveloped them and blinked out of existence. "Well... this is going to be fun~" Shifter cooed as the five quickly turned to them. ready for battle. (hated the fact I had to break this up into two parts lol)
