Wander Over Yonder- The Unspoken Master Piece

I just got into this show and man is it deep, I started watching this while waiting for the Steven Universe Hiatus to end. And if you’re not watching this show your really missing out. This show originally aired around 2013 and I saw the commercials for it and I was like… Nah this show looks like it sucks. But I came across it again and on youtube bored and I thought to myself “hey why not} and now watching all the episode and now… BOY DID I MISS OUT.

The show is alot deeper than I thought is was and it even managed to make me cry. This show truly is one underrated work of art, with colorful lovable characters and heartfelt messages hidden within. And even say that it’s up there with SU, Adventure Time, and Gravity Falls. I feel like this show never really got popular because of the popularity of Gravity Falls (which I am also a really big fan of) over shadowed it! Though I’m not complaining though I wished it got the same popularity as the it.

The plot of Wander Over Yonder is quite simple, the main protagonist Wander travels around from planet to planet, with his best friend Sylvia helping and befriending people. During these travels he constantly runs into and gets chased down by Lord Hater (our antagonist) who wants to conqueror the galaxy and be “the greates” along his right hand man Peepers. However despite this Wander keeps ruining his plans for world domination and wants to befriend him.

As for the characters Wanders is the optimist and always sees the good in everything and in everyone. Always looking to help them and befriend even when he’s going to far or they don’t wanna be friends. Now matter the situation he sees the bright side of things, which does often cloud his judgement & common sense for better or for worst. Though that’s why we love of him. As for Sylvia is a nonsense BADASS, and she’s pretty much the voice of reason for wander but is also capable of having fun and a good time. Wanders antics in helping people often clash with Sylvia thinking which leads to a lot of good comedy in the show,

Now Hater is the total opposite of Wanders a pessimist he’s never happy, and is very egoistical and selfish. Things never go his way no matter how hard he tries and and is never willing to see reason (Peepers). He does what he wants and doesn’t care about anyone else, despite Wanders attempts at befriending him. Though he does show signs that he can indeed be good one day. (but in season 2 an even better villain comes around which I’m not going to spoil because that’s worth finding out yourself)

Every single episode of Wander Over Yonder was a marvel to watch with great comedy and clever writing (along with great songs). On of my favorite episodes in the series is The Hero 15 in season 1, where the so called “hero” Brad Starlight who’s trying to save the princess turns out the be the villian… HECK the princess even saves herself!

This show does so much, it defies stereotypes and it even succeeds in rewriting the damsel in distress scenario! But what won me over was the heart and that’s put into these characters. Especially this scene from season 2 ep 6 The Wanders.

This scene really hit me hard and I literally cried after. It gives such a deep and important less where when you love someone you have to accept all of them even their flaws, and it goes even further in where you should accept yourself even the parts that you don’t because they make up you!

So if you haven’t watched Wander Over Yonder, or never heard of it, you should really check it out. Which brings me to this issue…. DISNEY IS ENDING WANDER OVER YONDER WITH SEASON 2! Apparently it’s because not many people have seen the show. But I can’t really coax you guys to help unless you watch the show first, so watch and if you think there should be a season 3 to continue sign the petition link bellow thank you!

Tonight on Wander over Yonder

Well this is it, part 4 of the 4 part Dominator/ Hater arc that began with THE GREATER HATER where Hater met his greatest foe, then came to blows in THE BATTLE ROYALE where his hate for him turned into love for her, which he professed in MY FAIR HATEY only to have his heart crushed just like all the all the planets are about to be in…

Since this is the end of the season and the end of the series I would simply like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on the crews at Disney Television Animation, Mercury Filmworks, and Boulder Media for their outstanding work on Wander over Yonder these past two seasons. Thank you for your dedication, for your talent, and for your friendship. This show was a blast to make and I can honestly say the work we did together on these 80 cartoons are some of my favorite cartoons I’ve ever been a part of in my career!

We loved checking in here after each airing to see what you thought worked and what didn’t. It gave us the confidence to continue on the path we were on but also sometimes gave us pause as to avoid any unseen missteps.
