Megan had been a friend of yours for years, you grew up together and experienced a lot. She was your first kiss, first friend and only friend for a while. You never realised how much she meant to you till you two had walked into high school, as freshmen. Your feelings grew a hold on your heart even when she had skipped your hangouts to go see her new “popular” upperclassmen friends. Did it hurt? Yes. But you learned to grow without her even if it hurt to do so. Through music and being in a band, it helped you understand your emotions and grow connections with others through a shared interest. Lara, Dani, and Yoonchae all had become your closest friends in the time span that Megan had climbed up the social hierarchy and became a cheerleader. it was the day of the mama awards performance, and you knew the girls were extremely nervous, especially with the last-minute changes they had to make because manon couldn’t be with them. megan called you before going on stage, asking if you could make it on time, and you promised her you would do anything to be there as soon as possible.

unfortunately, you didn’t make it before their exit, but you saw the whole performance and were extremely proud of all of them. they did fucking amazing.

after their performance, the girls came backstage to their green room, and you saw them.

“y/n!” sophia screamed as soon as she saw you. they came in one by one, and you gave them each a hug, telling them how amazing they did. megan was the last one in line, and as soon as she saw you, she started crying and immediately hugged you.

“baby, you did so good” you said, caressing her hair.

“i was so nervous” she said between her cries.

you held her tightly, letting her bury her face in your shoulder.

“i know, love, but you crushed it” you whispered softly. “i’m so proud of you.”

megan clung to you, her body trembling as she let the emotions pour out. the other girls quietly gave you two a moment, chatting among themselves but casting warm glances your way.

“you were watching?” she asked, her voice muffled.

“every second” you assured her, pulling back slightly to look her in the eyes. “you shined up there. nobody could tell you were nervous.”

her lip quivered, but a small smile broke through. “it didn’t feel perfect, though. with manon gone…”

“i bet manon is so proud of you guys” you interrupted. “you all adjusted like pros. the whole performance was electric. trust me.”

she hugged you again, and you kissed her cheek. “should we go?” you asked, looking at her.

“yeah, let me change into something else first” she said, glancing around.

you two went to your car and got in. you sat in silence for a couple of seconds, just looking at each other, her head resting on the headrest as well as yours. she leaned closer to you and gave you a soft kiss on the lips. you smiled as she pulled away.

“okay, let’s go” you said, turning on the car. the ride was about 30 minutes, and you occasionally glanced to your left. around the 15-minute mark, you saw her drifting to sleep, and you smiled to yourself at how cute she looked.

when you arrived at your house, you parked the car and slowly started caressing megan’s leg to avoid startling her.

“babe, we’re home” you said softly, and she slowly opened her eyes.

megan blinked a few times, her eyes still heavy with sleep. she smiled softly at you, her voice groggy. “already? that was fast.”

you chuckled. “you passed out halfway. come on, let’s get you inside.”

she stretched lazily before unbuckling her seatbelt. you got out and walked to her side, opening the door for her. she stepped out, still a bit drowsy, and leaned into you as you wrapped an arm around her waist.

once inside, she kicked off her shoes and collapsed onto the couch with a sigh. “i’m so tired” she mumbled, her eyes half-closed.

“c’mon, baby, let’s go wash up so we can go to bed” you said, taking your jacket off.

megan groaned softly, burying her face into the couch cushion. “can’t i just sleep here?” she mumbled.

you smiled, kneeling beside her. “nope, you’ll feel better after washing up. come on.”

reluctantly, she sat up, rubbing her eyes. “only if you come with me” she teased, her voice still groggy but playful.

you laughed, taking her hand and helping her up. “fine, i’ll keep you company.”

leading her to the bathroom, you turned on the warm water and handed her a fresh towel. megan leaned against the sink, looking at you with a tired but soft smile.

“thank you for taking care of me” she said quietly, her eyes meeting yours.

“always” you replied, pressing a quick kiss to her forehead. “now, hurry up so we can cuddle.”

she giggled softly, nodding as she started to freshen up. moments later, she joined you in the bedroom, looking cozier in her pajamas. you pulled back the covers, and she crawled in beside you, instantly curling into your arms.

“goodnight, baby” you whispered, holding her close.

“goodnight” she murmured, already drifting off again.
