The montage includes him receiving it as a birthday gift, being fascinated by the diagrams, excitedly reading it, protecting it from Falin, requested it be read to him while sick, looking at it sadly after bullies throw it on the ground, and carefully copying the contents by hand onto a pile of paper

I ADORE your art and how well you match the ISAT artstyle. I've been being alot of studies to try replicate the style and draw characters 3d but stylised. Are there any tutorials that have helped you, studies you do, or things you keep in mind whilst drawing to make the characters look so 3d?

Oooaaahh thank you!!! This is a really good question. I say that because I feel like I "2D cheat" ISAT art a lot. It's very comfy to draw bc my normal art is like that too, with angles that shouldn't be able to exist but look right bc it's 2D so your brain forgives it. Design of the art > accuracy of the anatomy, y'kno?

The hair kind of gives it away in most cases. It's meant to be such a specific shape, it kind of stops looking like the character if it gets too 3D? But drawing it more 3D has huge utility too, especially for animation n stuff. It's just something I've noticed about the style! It's very designed for 2D. It's very "the shape of the lines" > "the shape of the 3D object"

It's helpful to remember that ISAT characters are all made up of really simple shapes. Like Siffrin's head is just a ball from nearly any angle but the side. Their body is a cylinder but one end is wider than the other. Odile's face is a ball but the bottom is long, like an oval. Isa's is a ball but his chin is square, it has soft corners. Even Bonnie's face is a ball you just add a cheek bump. Etc etc.

^Notice how i can't simplify the hat down into a consistent 3D shape bc otherwise it just. kind of. doesn't look like Siffrin's hat LOL

If you have the simple 3D shapes down then the rest of it is all 2D cheating and focussing on details! Having character refs nearby at all times especially when ur tryna figure out how to draw the character is KEY so you can keep looking at it and comparing. Try to pay attention to the little quirks of the art style that differ from yours and try to mimic them. But don't be afraid to let your style infect it a bit if it helps you to create something more dynamic looking.

It helps that i've been drawing for ages. I know 'practice' is the age old advice but here's my spin on it: just draw, keep drawing what u want no matter if it looks bad or if some professional artist tells you you're doing it wrong. So long as you keep drawing you are learning. Indulge and draw what you want so you get to keep all the motivation and keep going.

oh and PUSH YOUR POSES/EXPRESSIONS!!! By this I mean, draw it once, and then lower the opacity and draw it again on top but pushing everything a little bit further. If a pose feels stiff this tends to fix it.

Her brooch is mainly yellow, but shifts into more blue hues the further down it goes. Her petticoat is bright red and her rope belt is dark red. Her skin is dark, her eyes are red and her hair is black.

She appears to be in an attacking stance, in motion. One hand is in front of her, spread out, and her other is behind her holding up a book. She has a mild smile on her face but an angry expression. Her hair, her eyewear retainers and coat are flying in motion.

The drawing is in color, unlike "In stars and Time's" normal art style. Odile's coat is light purple, with her diamond accents being a darker shade of the same color. Her shirt is a wine red/pink in color, the gems from her retainers are a bright shade of red/pink. Her pants remain black. Her book has a deep purple as the cover, with golden metal accents. Her hair is black with blue tints, her skin is light, and her eyes are a dark red.

Their hair is a very pastel green shade. The underside of their hat is dark in color, a desaturated dark blue. Their eye is a golden color and their skin is very pale and light. The dyed strands of their hair and eyepatch remain black.

Image 2 has Siffrin also seemingly winking, although it is hard to tell as they only have one eye. Their eyebrows are furrowed, and they are pointing their tongue out in a silly matter. Image 3 has the two looking at eachother in shock. Sif is bringing their hand down, while Isa has crossed both his arms. It's to note that Sif has a star in their eye

Image 4 has the two looking away from eachother, flustered. Siffrin has their face in their collar, looking shy, with more blush to their cheeks, the star still in their eye. Isabeau has put one arm on his neck awkwardly, he is sweating and looks even more flustered then Siffrin.

He is looking intently over some fabric, one hand gripping it to feel the texture, while the other simply holds the fabric. He has a thoughtfully silly look on his face, with squinted eyes and pursed lips.

The drawing is in color, unlike "In stars and Time's" normal art style. Isabeau's sleeves are bright yellow in color, and the lines at the end of those sleeves are a deep yellow/orange. The belt over his shoulder is the same deep yellow color. His turtleneck is a dark green color. His earrings are green and so is his nail polish. His hair is an orangish red, his skin is light and his eyes are green almost hazel like.
The fabric he is holding is purple.

Bonnie is sitting cross legged about to crack an egg in their cooking pan. They are looking intently at the pan, with furrowed eyebrows saying "Eat the berries, I bite you."
Behind them is Nille with handful of berries, who has turned around to look at bonnie in shock and slight worry. She is kneeled down in front of a bag filled with similar looking berries. The two seem to be in a field clearing.

The drawing is in color, unlike "In stars and Time's" normal art style. Bonnie's hair is a pastel orange with a deep blue accent. Their tanktop is a slightly darker shade or orange, with similar blue accents. Their pants and bracelet are a deep dark shade of blue, while their boots remain black. Their skin is dark, eyes brown, hair black and their earring is a bright blue.

Nille's bandana is a bright blue, with green stitching at the back. Her piercings are all bright yellow in color, her shirt is pastel green. The cloth around her waist is a warm green with yellow switching, while her pants are a dark blown, and her boots are a slightly darker brown. Her gloves seem to have a slightly blue tint to them similar to Bonnie's pants.
The berries she is eating are a bright pink color.

I just wanted to try drawing in the game's artstyle, to see how far I could make it- Considering my normal style looks like this-

A drawing from a previous post. The drawing has a lot of sharp angles and is very dynamic, in contrast to the very soft and round artstyle of the game.

A description of the actual image is not needed as it is nor relevant to the conversation, however, just in case, here it is.

"A Sadness' enemy attack connecting with Siffrin, who's jumped in between the Sadness and Nille to take the hit. They've pushed Nille to the side, a scissor sign in one hand, as she recoils and yells out "SIFFRIN!?"
He doesn't looked phased at all, and has his dagger high up, ready to strike back."

I think I did okay.

And for fun I decided to give everyone my color headcanons cause I've been meaning to for a while-

I HAVE NILLE THINGS IN THE COOKER BUT FOR NOW YOU GET NORMAL ISAT STUFF, COUNT YOUR BLESSINGINGS (I am joking I love them all dearly)
