Can I pet that dog?
The dog:
Thank you for the apology. I appreciate it. On review, I think what got lost in translation was how I was thinking about nuclear warfare would turn out. My primary source was what happened in the American Cold War, where neither the U.S. nor USSR were willing to deploy nuclear weapons at risk of decimating the human population. I made the assumption that elves in their sense of superiority would think humans are too stupid/impulsive to hold themselves back as such. Therefore, the Council would give them the tech with the assumption that humans would eradicate themselves. Does that make a little more sense? As you can tell, sometimes it makes more sense in my head and less so out loud...
Do you have a source for the scientist thing? Because from what I've read, one of the scientists was an Austrian Jew, so I want to figure this out.
Shannon did not think it through when she said elves gave humans technology to build atomic bombs. Why? Because the Nazis... YES THE GOD DAMN NAZIS were the first people to start developing it. meaning the elves gave the Nazi's the tools to start developing it willingly
NATALIE.
NATALIE WHAT DO YOU MEAN "HE'LL HAVE YOU."
That girl is 14, Natalie. You are not leaving the emotional wellbeing of her boyfriend in her hands. Not unless you want to catch THESE hands.
Hi I'm back on this again.
Spoilers for both the Forgotten Lands memory quest and object quest.
I am on the relic quest, and I was baffled at the fact that the Forgotten seemed so close to Scar as a child. I mean, you find a drawing you made IN HIS DOMAIN. It means both you AND him were comfortable enough to lounge together and hang out. This was puzzling, both with how Scar treats you now and how Scar tried to overthrow the Forgotten in the memory of the Dreamscape.
But as I think about it, it doesn't surprise me as much. Because Scar, the most selfish, catty (ha), power-hungry jerk of the Pride Lands, was willing to share the crown with you. He says it in the memory that if you just said yes, he would have let you rule by his side, which is a pretty big allowance considering who we are talking about. Shit, I don't think he let his own NEPHEW co-rule with him. This led me to the conclusion that Scar loves the Player, so much so as to keep them close in his conquest of power and let you draw in his cave.
This got me thinking about Mother Gothel's Dreamscape memory too. Notice how she wasn't trying to lock the Forgotten in the tree because she wanted something from you, like Rapunzel. No, she seemed to actively want to protect you from what she thinks is naivety. She tells you that the world is cruel and dangerous, and, both then and now, seems convinced you aren't quite capable on your own.
Is what either of them doing right? No. But i think it is their perverse expression of love and care. To keep you close while Scar ruled would risk an overthrow, but he's willing to make that concession. It could be that he wants a powerful ally, but how would that explain his actions when you were younger? Vanity, perhaps, but even the villians in the Village seem to care about the Player. Would the fact that he cares in his own, messed up way be so far-fetched? Maybe Gothel is worried about the Valley's state, but she doesn't say anything about the rotting produce when talking to you. Maybe she does just want to protect you, but the way she tries it bad.
I don't know. I'm not even close to done with the relic quest, but the way Mickey's segment of it played out, I was puzzled with how close the Forgotten seemed with the villians at a young age vs the memories when they were older. Maybe the quest will turn out different, but it's just a thought.
If anyone could do that one audio of "today a twelve year old tried to fight me" with Oswald and Pitbonnie that would be great, thanks. I could do it, but I don't think I could do it justice
Kinda wanna see it. Keefe has been so one tracked with Sophie and focused on the Neverseen that someone outside of it all (doesn't have to be romantic) would be a breath of fresh air. I want someone who would be his friend without all the drama of the elvin world.
you know what's gonna happen in unraveled, right?
some random human (or secret elf) love interest is gonna be introduced and they'll be with keefe by the end of the story for no reason and that's gonna suck
I dont tend to read WIPs for this reason, but when I do it's never surrender
I was scanning through AO3 and wondered about fic updates (with no pressure on the writers who haven't abandoned their babies lol) and what period of time (to a reader) means the fic is likely not returning from hiatus/the grave.
Am reading a fic where the author doesn't want remnant to be supernatural, so they changed the canon a bit (https://archiveofourown.org/works/45313468?view_full_work=true for anyone interested). That's all well and good, except now I have the concept of William Afton going "ah yes, the secret to immortality" and it's just. blood plasma or something.
"I am unstoppable" and he doesn't figure it out because he never bothered to investigate anything not related to engineering. He dies too soon to figure it out as his body continues to age.
Henry and Michael don't figure it out, since neither of them are too keen on killing a child to look at it. Michael is still alive after the scoop for unknown reasons. The Missing Children possess the suits via regular possession. Of course, the Missing Children don't know either, since they are, you know, little kids.
It's kinda tragic too. All this destruction and death for something you could find at the blood bank.
This plus @justkillingthyme 's tags, because I played games 2, 3, 5, and 6 before playing 1 and 4, and lemme tell you, I could NOT figure out the beef (but I still had a GREAT time).
Perks of having played Miracle Mask as your first ever Layton Game:
You get introduced to Layton knowing how to fence as a natural part of his character, and not as something that might seem out of nowhere in a very epic scene
You're nostalgic for the very epic Carnival World
Very epic minigame flashback section in your first Layton Game
Very epic section where you can figure out what happened at the scene of the crime and feel really smart in your first Layton Game
Sth, sth, advantages the 3DS has gameplay wise I guess, since I like the way you play on the 3DS a little better
Disadvantages of having played Miracle Mask as your first ever Layton Game:
What is a Descole and why do they know each other???
Guys, my brain rots over Anidala vs BOTW Zelink. Like ughhhhhhh my heart, my soul. BOTW Zelink are my favorite, platonic or romantically, and Anidala is so messy (therapy, ASAP, individually and relationship). They both have the theme of guard and royal yet Zelink is so much stronger, in my mind? Like, Zelda and Link very much have to go to therapy too, but they seem more emotionally stable about that fact. I think it's the difference between thinking what they have is okay (Anidala) and constantly working to improve (Zelink).
Anyway, Zelink, my beloved.
Roman Catholic female who's a little too neurospicy for her own good.
