To me, Chappell Roan isn’t my vibe. I don’t like her, I don’t rock with her, I don’t really fuck with her music, some songs are good. But I don’t think it’s fair to discredit her and villainize her. I don’t dislike her because she’s gay or whatever, I dislike her because I don’t like the media diva thing. Whatever, it’s part of her brand, that’s fine. But what’s not okay is to publicly shame, disrespect, and discredit her. You might not like her, but you owe it to her to leave her alone. Not because she’s a star or because she’s special, but because she’s human.

it's so crazy to me how within the space of a year the internet's 'widespread' opinion of chappell roan has swung from admiration of an outspoken and refreshing new performer to huge hate trains whenever she so much as breaths. nothing has changed with her as a person, she is still projecting the exact same messages she always did, and yet comparing comments now to a year ago really highlights how active misogyny and homophobia are within media spaces. it's like 'ok, we let a gay woman get too big, how do we tear her down and black her out of these spaces?'. every single thing she says is twisted when before it was a breath of fresh air, now even what she wears is being torn apart instead of being revolutionary - the u-turn is giving me whiplash. and people wonder why we don't have more gay women in the media when men who have done far, far worse are never exposed to this kind of mass villainization

Because Catholicism and by extension Christianity are so big and normal I don't think a lot of people consider how strange the Vatican is just conceptually.
