CDaF #1- Dakota Dawson

Dakota Dawson is the titular character and one of the protagonists of DaF. She’s the one I’ve had around for the longest, having been created in late 2019. Generally, she’s the kind and reasonable one, but she does have a temper and will fuck you up given the right circumstances.

Dakota and Friends, or DaF for short, is a failed project that I worked on from 2019 to 2024, but I might bring it back somehow.

It featured a cast of anthropomorphic animals living in your typical modern city, going through all the troubles regular people experience and more.

It also had a few AUs centered around the characters living in certain time periods and places other than the typical modern city. The one I think about the most is one that I titled House of Memories, which takes place in 1920s Russia and featured quite the cast of characters.

Generally, I’m pretty much doing CDaF (which is short for Catified Dakota and Friends) because I want to practice my drawing skills and the kid in me would scream if she saw her characters drawn as cats.

So yeah, I have other things planned for this project as well. And I will try to upload these drawings daily.

so when i listen to certain songs a scene pops up in my head, and i can picture it clearly.

last night i decided to put 5 of these onto digital artworks, using my trusty ipad and procreate app.

Trunkasaurus. Essentially a brachiosaurus with a trunk.

I’ve recently started a worldbuilding project called “The Bestiary”. Basically it’s a planet populated by creatures that vaguely resemble prehistoric/extinct animals. And it will probably have a sapient species as well… so look out for those guys lol

just a couple sketches ‘cause i got a new sketchbook the other day

To be more specific, the first sketches of my Wings of Fire character, Tyrian. He is a SkyWing prince, the oldest son of Queen Rhinestone (let’s just say his story takes place like 500 years in the future). And he really likes his bling lol.

You can see in the first picture that I tried multiple times to get his look just right. And I did get it just right, as seen in the second picture.

And to be honest I really don’t regret reading Wings of Fire. Mainly because I’m a furry who wants to write about societies of any animal OTHER than humans because humans are pretty boring, and yada yada yada

uhh yeah i didn’t watch frozen yesterday it was too hot and i was sick

So I got bored and decided to catify one of my OCs, Kari. I didn’t really use him much since I created him back in early 2020, but that’s just how life goes, I guess.

Anyway lemme explain Kari’s lore:

Kari is an alien husky (that’s why he’s blue) who ended up on Earth for some reason and eventually met another one of my OCs, Dakota. And then the two ended up in an on-and-off relationship-? I dunno they’re best friends/lovers cuz 11 year old me was just desperate to pair Dakota with a dumbass for some reason. Yeah Kari’s the dumbass and Dakota’s the smart one and they fight sometimes and romance each other some other times… yeah that’s pretty much how I’d describe their dynamic.

CDaF #2- Kari

Kari is the second character I made for Dakota and Friends, having also existed since late 2019. She’s a young alien fox with Superman’s powers and backstory, and Dakota’s best friend (at the time at least). She’s kinda dumb and annoying but she’s still a decent person.

uh hey. i turned 14 a couple days ago and, well, i’m still alive! hehe..

when i was like 8 years old my teacher and I wrote a story about a bluebird named Bella who falls off a branch and breaks her wing, and is then taken to the hospital by a cat named Cloee and they lived happily ever after :)

but for the book itself i was using a program that didn’t have any assets that looked like actual bluebirds so i ended up having to make her look like this

And in my head (since I never wrote it down) I decided that Bella was actually a fictional species of bluebird called the “parrot bluebird”. Yeah I’ve had a passion for animals and biology since elementary school it’s nothing new

I still think about this to this day as a reminder to myself that I’m not new to the art of creature design.
