Interesting observation: Gordon ran from right to left at being called to launch in episode 1 – we now know that by series 3, his launch-way is in the other direction, so was this was an earlier format for series 1.... or was there another reason?
It had only been the mildest of annoyances to Gordon that his launch route repair had been set aside for Brains to complete the necessary upgrades that had taken TB1 out of the skies. He could cope for a while, getting TB1 air borne again was the priority, and anyway, he grinned, his alternative route to launch was kinda fun.
So this was a call to a submersible!
Yup, no doubt there, he was going to be needed and he past his brother at a run towards the original old shute behind his father's desk, unused now for over 12 years, but still serviceable. At the very beginning of International Rescue, this had been Jeff’s and Lee’s first short cut to the hangers when they had decided that the lifts took too long. It would take Gordon to the top hanger level - at break-neck speed! Brains had eventually over-engineered everything to a point of total safety - but this shute? This shute still existed.
And he loved it!
It reminding him of every water shute he'd ever been on, plus as little kids their Dad would let them slide down occasionally just for fun.
Next, a sprint along the gantries for nearly ½ a mile, easy for boys that kept to their high levels of fitness, but all the time he was still watching the clock. He held the record for the distance although he wasn't sure why as Scott was usually the fastest. Gordon's current record was 1 minute 53 seconds if he didn't skid at the corner going into the next hanger.
Aware that Virgil would have already completed his systems check and starting to warm the engines, Gordon flipped under the railings, taking he own personal option of a short cut, landing on the lower gantry with a clatter and rattle of the metal before running another couple of yards to a jury rigged zip wire set up for the time being.
This was his favourite bit, he'd hooted his head off as he flew down, pretty sure that no-one could hear.
He landed at a run right next to the pods.
This was where he should have been a whole minute or more earlier if his own launch route wasn’t damaged. Even so he didn’t rush this part as he got to work selecting which pod to use and checking the contents before sending it along to meet with TB2. Rushing a job lead to mistake and International Rescue avoided mistakes at all costs.
Inside Pod 4, the lights came on automatically, illuminating his own Bird.
“Hello Beautiful!” He called out to her as he slid into the spare uniform he stored there. By then the pod had reached it's position and he felt the familiar movement as it was lifted and loaded to TB2.
He checked his watch one more time, yup pretty good!
All he had to do was take the lift to the cockpit, blink at the sunshine pouring in as the cliff wall lifted and take his seat, perhaps a little out of breath but very definitely not late for take-off.
REBOOT - sorry for the absence, some more of the reboot stuff - three old cartoons
Scott baby sitting (I really meant to come back to this and finish it - meh, maybe later :-) )
Virgil baby sitting - there was a story, something along the lines of being seen as a big brother.
Virgil baby sitting again but no-one was sure who’s lil baby ...
and Gordo, no so much baby sitting and baby rescuing - anyone who’s seen this one might remember these are my neighbours grandchildren who are huge TAG fans, I wrote them a story about them being rescued by Gordon and illustrated it for them - but it gave the nightmares
The tiniest of spoiler, so tiny it could be missed, apologies for it being so grainy
But thats all we got, I was wondering if a bit in front of pod6 was cut.
I’m going to finish what I started months ago and repost all my artwork for TAG starting with these :-)
‘Hmmm, nice shirt Gordon!’
‘Really??? I thought you hated it!’
I believe Rob Hoegee left us to write this ourselves, so this is my attempt
“Welcome home Dad.” Gordon offered quietly as his father was lead away to a full health scan followed by, almost certainly, a bout of indigestion.
Penny welcomed him home then took a few steps up the ramp to meet Gordon.
“How was it? Are you all safe?” She asked concerned.
“Yup, all safe, and it went really well, bar the Hood of course.” He was wondering, hoping, why she had stayed in the hanger after the others had left. His heart pounding at the sight of her, so perfect even after the pitched battle to save the island.
“Are you okay?” He asked gently, almost a whisper. She was close now, taking his hand, looking up into his face.
“I am now.” She smiled, “I worried about you all while you were away, but...” She stopped to check he was still breathing. “It turns out that I do worry about you - in particular.” Reaching that short distance to his lips, she kissed him. “I really do!” They kissed again.
“Now Gordon do something really important for me!” Her voice suddenly very urgent - she had his whole attention!
“I need you to breath, Gordon please, breath!”
