I’m starting to suspect that Porter could intentionally be fucking Gorgug over in an attempt to bring out some rage in him and if that is the case, I can see the conclusion of that endeavor being Gorgug teaching HIM that uncontrolled, unpredictable rage offers little strategically to a party, but someone as emotionally conscientious and leveled out as Gorgug can tap into rage as a tool and that’s what makes him a good barbarian.
I’m thinking we’re approaching an arc about that, with the frost fest coming up at the thistlespring tree next episode and it being revealed that both his adoptive and biological parents will be there- the gnomes that raised him to be kind and emotionally intelligent, and the orcs that passed the barbarian nature down to him. I think Gorgug is going to accept his strengths as a barbarian in control of his anger, who can apply himself outside of his rage and dial into it when it matters. He’ll be better than Porter ever was.
reading dc comics has turned me into a hater in ways that no other comics made me a hater.
and to clarify, i do not hate the characters. they are good, Nice even. they are very Complex.
on the other hand, the storyline of some of these comic runs has made me feel like i have lost braincells and when i shoved it back to my head, it was no longer a cell made for brains.
Y'all ever think about how Duke patrols during the day, utterly alone most of the time? He doesn't have default backup in the form of other people, out and about, it's just him and the assurance that someone somewhere would answer his call if something went wrong-- not just someone a burough over that he can rely on though.
Not to mention, it's Gotham. Crime doesn't stop in the daylight, the Bats just operate at night to get the heavy hitters that do and to use the darkness as a tool, a defensive line they can work out of. Duke never had had that-- and has never needed it.
Duke Thomas is the boldest of the Bats in a lot of ways, because nothing about him is a secret or ever should be-- he's a hero for the daylight, a reassurance that bad things may not balk at the sunlight, but neither will good people
I'm adding to this because I'm bored:
It is a known fact that Jason wants Tim as his Robin, constantly annoying him out of his mind because fuck the kid is smart. Jason knows better than anyone that smart people are dangerous, especially when it's someone like Tim who was raised to be able to manipulate anyone at the drop of a hat, so long as it kept the business alive. Well luckily for Gotham, New Jersey, and probably the world- no, multiverse, Tim also has a functional moral compass. Mostly.
Anyway, Jason is fully convinced that he HAS to take this kid under his wing when he finds the literal filing cabinets of contingency plans and aliases this kid has. You know, something about knowing exactly how your kid brother would destroy your life if you stepped too far out of line is comforting. And terrifying.
The point is, they would be a horrifying and delightful team up
Also y'all need to stop saying Jason or Damian are the most dangerous of the Robins. Sure Jason and Dami have been trained to kill, and Jason still does when he feels it's needed BUT. Tim Drake would find everything there is to know about you and make you wish you were dead.
That's the difference.

Janet: Tim, what are you wearing? There is a gala tonight, you should be dressed by now.
Tim: *sucks air in through his teeth* Oh, unfortunately, other plans came up. Have fun at the gala!
---
*Jack and Janet come back to the manor after a long flight with dozens of artifacts to unpack and no Tim in sight to help*
36 hours after they reached out, Tim left them a voicemail: I'll be out of town for the next few weeks. If you need anything Mrs. Mac comes by twice a week, but really try not to be a bother to her. She's getting up there in age.
--
*Jack and Janet at a party trying to talk up Brucie about their latest archeological digs*
Tim: Mother, Father, dear. Your digs really are interesting, but I'm sure Mr. Wayne has better things to do than listen to your ramblings about your- ah- hobby.
What if Jason attacked Tim, not because he was jealous, not to send a message to Bruce, not because he felt like he was being replaced, but because he was horrified to see another kid in the suit? What if it was a warning, letting him know that this? This pain, this threat to his very being, this risk of death? That was all that was out there for him in this life, so go back to your cushy life and leave it alone before you get killed. (The "like I did" is left unsaid)
What if the reason Bruce pushed so hard against Tim at first was for the same reason? The fear of repeating his biggest mistake, the horror he felt as a child actively asked to be put in the suit because nothing but tragedy came to the boys before him.
I dunno, just feels a little fucked up and awful to me.
i could talk at length about how bruce kneels at the shadow of john grayson and remains terrified of calling dick grayson his son, both from the weight of loving someone that deeply and the fear of replacing dick’s parents. how they’re father and son and brother and brother and best friend and companion and confidante and confessor and they’re so tangled up in each other that they’re trapped in the cage they both refuse to leave. but people are still gonna try to convince me that dick is not bruces child in any real way that matters. cmon now.
unfortunate that the united states has been very successful at controlling narratives around word war 2 and positioning itself as the polar opposite of nazism and the main force fighting fascism when america was complicit in the holocaust. not only did american press report positively about hitler and the nazi party up until the end of the 30′s, some publications cooperated with nazi germany, american companies had investments and connections to nazi germany that they maintained until american involvement in the war, and companies like ibm in particular gave nazis the technology necessary to make the holocaust possible in the first place. some company owners themselves had nazi sympathies like henry ford and others just saw it as a business opportunity. the us denied entry to european jewish refugees and deported jewish refugees back to germany, many senators and other government officials during the 1930s openly supported nazism and worked to prevent the us from taking a side in ww2, and during the 30s large pro nazi rallies were held across the us. american eugenics movement, american race laws and american genocide set the model for the holocaust and there shouldnt be any discussion of nazism and the holocaust without also discussing the extent of american complicity in it.
anyways heres some material on it
