Oho, my, my... It would appear that I've upset some people tonight. Oho, how delightful.
Truth tends to do that, I've found.
My intent with my new JKR's writing analysis series is to help others improve their writing. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not a series where I'm trying to bitch about anything. I'm just obsessed with writing. I love helping other writers become better and stronger.
I don't actually care about JKR.
We can always dissect other authors after I'm through with her.
As a teenager decades ago, I used to idolize her and her writing. However, I learned that when I copied her, it weakened my writing. I quickly outgrew her.
I wish to prevent this mistake for others. My desire is to help young aspiring writers to critically analyze JKR's writing (and potentially other authors) without putting this woman on a pedestal.
After all, we don't need the canon texts anymore. Fanfiction writers as a whole have so greatly surpassed her on a glorious scale. The writing skills of fanfiction writers far exceed JKR. If this idea and concept triggers you and makes you angry, then you might want to take a step back and self reflect on that personal issue.
And if you still have a problem, then this writing series is obviously not for you.
That's okay.
If I'm the only brave person around here to dissect J.K. Rowling's writing and reveal its true nature, then so be it.
Class is in session. See yall next week for Part Two.
Gorgeous ❤️❤️

concept: Tom Riddle is working on slowly gaining influence and gathering followers in Slytherin. He only shares his heritage with his most trusted confidants. Everything is going well for him until a time-traveling Harry Potter with absolutely no fucks to give strolls into Slytherin house wearing a huge snake Britney Spears style and immediately claims to be the Heir of Slytherin. Harry takes people on tours to the Chamber of Secrets, lets his friends ride on the Basilisk's back, taunts Tom in parseltongue, and Tom loses his mind.
"The way to a man's heart is through his stomach."
Tom Riddle was used to being hungry considering the situation he grew up in. When he gets to Hogwarts, he sneaks food in his bag and has to ration what he stole from hogwarts when he gets back to the orphanage.
In the future, Voldemort is waiting on someone to show up for a secret meeting. He is in disguise and has been waiting a long time. Harry taking pity on him, offers to cook for him while he waits thinking its for a date or something at the bakery/coffee shop/restaurant he works at.
Voldemort has never had anything so delicious in his life.
What these past few days have felt like
I have to say, in my own blog, sometimes I think fans don't really like Harry (even if they ship him and create content with him), so they basically reinvent his entire character.
Some takes are just so doctored it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
For example, Tomarry. If you're looking for a young man who worships the ground LV walks in, despises Dumbledore, despises the corruption of muggle born (despite being an half-blood), is fascinated by purebloods' gold, etc...
why do you not ship LV with one of his death eater?
Also the tendency to exaggerate Harry's less than perfect traits is frankly boring. Ohhh, Harry crucrioed Bellatrix after she killed Sirius! This shows that Harry is B A D and loves using unforgivables!!
No, it shows that Harry is human, he has capacity for evil like everyone, he just decides not to use it, as exemplified by him never using an unforgivable in DH.
While I admit I don't think Harry is the most intriguing character of HP, I think he's interesting and very impressive on his own. I adore his compassion for Albus, Severus, and even Tom.
I adore his quiet nobility and full metal moral compass.
That horrifying moment when you realize that you aren't following that one person whose fics you've been reading for a whole bloody year on tumblr
