Vertical colour illustration.
A pyramid composition, Papa Emeritus 4 is standing on a pile of bones around which skeletons with putrefied flesh seem to be dancing. Some have their tongues out, arms in the air, or are grabbing each other, all looking delighted.
The three uppermost have a torn, dirty sheet over their heads, while others have wreaths of flowers and thorns.
Papa emeritus is wearing his black and copper papal outfit, with the leather cornet and translucent cape floating in the wind.
In his right hand, he's brandishing a shepherd's crook, a twisted wooden stick that forms a loop, which is different from a real shepherd's crook because I've added a cross in the loop. It doesn't form a grucifix, but it's a little reminiscent of one.
Papa is 3/4 facing us, looking to the left (his right).
The background all around him is just a red sky.

For this illustration the coincidence is quite funny. It's a concept idea I had last year, as usual I did a quick sketch and left it for later. Then at the beginning of September I got the urge to finally draw it, (Also to provide a little entertainment for those who don't follow my project on Ko-fi), so I improved the skull pile idea by putting decaying skeletons in motion instead. And the date of my wips on instagram proves it, it was the day before the LA show where there was this coregraphy with skeletons lifting Copia off the ground. Like I said, perfect timing. Pure coincidence. Hehe.
