Hello my friends, I am Fairuz, married and have two children. I will tell you my story. In this war and the suffering we are living, I was sleeping with my family and my two children, Ahmed and Mohammed... The morning of October 7, the fateful day that turned our lives upside down. I had a very beautiful life. My husband worked in a restaurant and we lacked nothing. My children had many toys and many clothes. We hoped and drank the most beautiful thing. I will share with you some of our pictures before and after the war... The day came that changed my life and the lives of my children. We no longer owned anything and our house was completely destroyed on the second day of the war. We escaped from it with difficulty. My child Ahmed was ten months old, Ahmed and Mohammed were 4 years old. We took a few clothes and left our destroyed house and were displaced to many places. Then we went to the south on foot, and I was carrying my child Ahmed, and the bombing and missiles were above our heads. I was very afraid for them. We were crying a lot on the way. We did not know which way to go or where to go. My children and I cried a lot on the way and went to UNRWA schools. I couldn't live there. I didn't have a place for my children and I to sit. We set up a tent and winter came to us. The weather was very cold. We didn't have blankets, bedding or anything... These were the worst days of my life. Then came the insects that filled the place from all directions. đ And Muhammad got hepatitis, so I was crying a lot during that period. And Ahmed got pimples that were spreading all over his body. I wished for death during that period, because I couldn't bear this suffering. Now we need blankets, movements, food, drink and cleaning tools.
After Veilguard, Manfred continues to learn and grow just as he did before, as a being in the living world and also as a mage.
And he starts to gain more independence, and to learn from teachers apart from Emmrich.
And, eventually, he becomes a full member of the Mourn Watch, and then a senior member.
And he takes on his own proteges, spirit and living, and teaches them everything heâs learned.
And, one day, Emmrich dies.
And Manfred, as his son, tends to his body and his grave with the same reverence for the honored dead that Emmrich taught him.
And as long as Manfred remains in the world, he carries on Emmrichâs legacy in his own actions and those of his endless chain of students, each one given the love and care and support that were the foundational gifts his father gave him.
This, too, is immortality.
IT IS STILL RACIST IF YOU TAKE A SOUTH EAST ASIAN CHARACTER AND MAKE HER BLACK. IT IS STILL RACIST.

I think where the âyouâre just mad people are critiquing a game you likeâ crowd gets me the most is that Iâve read all their critiques. I was legitimately surprised on my first run that some people took Veilguard so personally and were vitriolic so I went through and read what they were saying because I was like âwhat did I miss?â Thatâs my first instinct when something confuses me is to dig. (Oh hey I applied this to the game too! Crazy!)
And when I started breaking down what they were saying was when I started getting annoyed because their arguments were either in such bad faith, reductive, or just plain wrong. Like Orientalism in the game? Fair! But I have not seen talk of that get anywhere near the amount of traction as âSolas should have torn down the Veil and him and Lavellan should have had elf supremacy together and they didnât so game bad.â âI missed a bunch of stuff then blamed BioWare.â Or âI didnât like how it played out so writing bad.â Or âThey didnât say the Maker enough and I counted.â That last one is my favorite. Oh and âthe language is too modernâ and theyâre specifically talking about Taash because they donât want to admit nonbinary people make them uncomfortable.
But wow I donât see that energy from the other side at all. I donât see them even trying to understand or read why people like the game. I try to encourage people to read your meta write ups as well as my own and they either just want to pick a fight because I have the audacity to love the game rather than hear me out or step outside of that negativity for like two seconds. Here we are two months later and theyâre still acting like Veilguard broke into their house and beat them up and stole their sixty bucks then took a piss on the old games.
My first Rook just wanted to be the meat in a RowanTaash sandwich. đ
Dear everyone who is currently working on a Thing, whatever that Thing may be,
Good luck with the Thing. You can do the Thing. You will do the Thing. You just have to do the Thing.
Best wishes,
Someone who is also doing a Thing
I donât understand Taash hate
I donât know if Iâve said this before but I occasionally see people say âoh Taash is rude and mean, and they donât respect others yet expect respect with their pronounsâ
The respect part especially gets me because correct me if Iâm wrong Taash never demands respect from anyone except maybe the Dragon King and their mom. Even with their pronouns, I donât even think they do as much as correct anyone even in the scene with Isabela when they get it wrong
Theyâre not even rude either because like a lot of times when theyâre talking about what other companions do, for example Emmirichâs âdeath mage stuffâ and âcorpse stuffâ, itâs very clear, or very clear to me, they are saying it like that because they donât know anything about it, the same way I would call what an IT guy does âcomputer stuffâ
(Also used Emmirich specifically as an example because Iâve noticed Emmirich girlies, no offense to Emmirich girlies, get really defensive about anything thatâs even sorta negative towards him. Seen it with Taash and Hardingâs interactions with him but this is off topic.)
And if Taash is too mean of a companion for you to even consider liking them??? Bro this the game being criticized for everyone being too nice if theyâre too mean I think youâd go into cardiac arrest hearing any companion dialogue from the previous 3 games. Not specifically someone like Morrigan or Fenris literally any of them
Honestly the way Taash acted in Veilguard reminded me of how Karlach acts in BG3 except Taash is just a lot more chill and less energetic
Also to say Taash has the worst story in the game is insane when Hardingâs exists (no disrespect to Harding I just think that her questline sucks)
Back on the Emmirich topic except itâs on topic with Taash, Taash being weirded out or cautious about the shit Emmirich does is literally the most normal reaction to Necromancy.
Leliana at the Battle of Denerim when I make her wear heavy armor so she can survive the Darkspawn
I think a lot of people dislike Taash discussing gender and being non-binary so explicitly because it forces them to acknowledge those issues rather than remain comfortable ignoring them. Transgender identities in Veilguard are not an innuendo, an off-handed remark, but they're mentioned and discussed in a way that prevents working around them and disregarding them. All the talk of people mentioning how DA games should be "medieval fantasy" and not use "modern language" is just a facade for wanting to be able to ignore what makes people uncomfortable.
