33 years ago today falsettos came out on broadway :D!!
i’m gonna yap about falsettos for a second
in unlikely lovers there’s this one part where whizzer says “please go home and don’t be scared” and marvin replies “what’s the fuss? i’m not scared! what good is a lover who’s scared?”
this part makes me lose my mind every time i hear it bc marvin obviously is very scared but he thinks that if he shows any weakness that whizzer will think less of him even when he’s dying and he can’t bear to lose him now so he’s just keeping everything he feels in until the end of this song
hey guys i’m normal about falsettos!!! hbu!!!
My mother can’t watch act 2 of falsettos because it upsets her so much; oddly, I think one of the reasons I’ve fallen in love with this show is because it is so sad. Falsettos is a story that is disgustingly human, and that includes awful decisions, and bad situations, and even death. But there’s also love, there is so much love and something about that is so beautiful
marvin with grey streaks in his hair
thats all
Falsettos the musical, Amiright?
Welcome To Falsettoland ends with “It’s about time” being repeated with increasing intensity until it abruptly cuts off. Much like You Gotta Die Sometime
cuz it's about time and they didn't have enough uaogh sobs
updates to the birds
I would like to share my Finch whizzer brown birds
reminiscing when i had already said all my lines for mic check so i started info dumping about the marvin trilogy to 5 people
evil falsettos be like Likely Haters
Rest in peace William Finn.
To the man who never knew I existed, thank you. He helped me feel comfortable in my sexuality when I was most vulnerable (in middle school) while making it fun.
His music held my hand through the bullying and torment that comes with being queer. The songs that he wrote shielded me from ever listening to those harsh comments. Falsettos made me the person who I am today and I couldn’t be happier.
He pioneered openly gay media that wasn’t played as a joke. I know Rocky Horror Picture Show came out 3 years before In Trousers did but (as much as I love Rocky horror) the queer themes were played as a joke. William made Marvin a raw and flawed character that felt like a human being. He brought life to characters that resonated with the queer community at the very beginnings of the modern lgbtq movement.
It shatters me that he passed away at 73 while Trump is still alive. I especially feel bad for his husband, Arthur. Bill impacted the lives of millions of people and his music will continue to bring joy and hope to the queer community for years to come. What more can I say?
