if one more person comments on my "we need to keep payphones/public phones" post with "what we need are free phone charging stations and wifi hotspots, like in new york!" i am going to lose my mind. what do you people not understand about "not everyone has a smartphone" and "phones can break". how are these new concepts.

I keep seeing brutal Israeli attacks against Palestinian civilians, and I keep hearing western politicians talk about Israel's right to self defense. Israel is the aggressor - it is not defending itself, it is continuing its decades-long campaign to kill and drive out indigenous Palestinians to make way for its expansion and ensure its desired demographics. Ethnic cleansing for the furthering of an ethno-nationalist colonial project is not self defense - it is criminal. It is aggression. It is murder.

another person has self-immolated in protest of the ongoing genocide happening in Palestine. his name is Matt Nelson, he self-immolated in front of the Israeli consulate in Boston, he is the 5th known person to have done this. Before he did this, he stated his intentions and reasoning in a Youtube video which has been reposted across several platforms and the condensed transcription is as following:

“My name is Matt Nelson and I'm about to engage in an extreme act of protest. We are all culpable in the ongoing genocide in Gaza […] We are slaves to capitalism and the military industrial complex. The Weill Cornell Medicine commencement was held earlier this month where a medical graduate from Gaza used his time on stage to condemn the university and its leadership for their complicity in the genocide on Gaza and implored his fellow graduates to stay true to their oath and stand with the hundreds of healthcare workers who have been killed by the IOF. In response the university have done everything they can to minimise this young graduate from speaking truth to power from his own graduation records by cutting away from him during the ceremony’s livestream and erasing his time on stage in the released footage.
