“Why on earth would you paint yourself silver?” Finn whispered, standing in the doorway of the bathroom as Sam rubbed frantically at his face with a washcloth, silver face paint covering him from the top of his forehead and down to where his V-neck tee, a light grey, started. “Did you use permeant marker or something?”

“It won’t come off,” Sam cried, trying to stay quiet. The Humdel parents had been kind enough to let him stay for the school year, he didn’t want them knowing he’d snuck out for a midnight screening for a double-viewing of the Fantastic-Four movies. He also didn’t want Mr. Burt to see him covered in silver. He knew the man was very kind and accepting of pretty much anything, but he was sure the man didn’t appreciate his bathroom getting covered in silver paint. “Finn!” He whispered, a bit frantic. “Help me!”

“I don’t know what to do!” Finn cried back, stepping into the bathroom to look at Sam through the mirror. “Maybe we should wake up-”

“No.” Sam interrupted, his eyes wide with fear. “Waking up Kurt is the last resort.”

“Why?” Finn asked. “Kurt will know what to do to get the paint off.”

“You really think waking Kurt up-your brother, who bit you when you woke him up from a nap to ask him where the coffee grounds were-will appreciate being woken up to help me de-silverfy?” Sam shook his head, and groaned when another swipe at his face with the wash cloth barely removed anything. “No way.”

“Well,” Finn shrugged. “It’s either I go and wake up Kurt, or you are silver until he wakes up in the morning.”

Sam wiped again at his face. He looked in the mirror, and whimpered a bit: he’d been cleaning up for an hour, and he was still mostly silver. He still didn’t want to wake Kurt.

“I’ll just be silver forever,” Sam moaned. 

“What are you two-Sam?” Kurt stepped into the bathroom doorway, drawing back in surprise when the pair whipped around to stare at the smaller teen. Kurt was gaping at him, eyebrows upturned as he took in the situation. Finally, after a few moments of awkward silence, Kurt deflated, shaking his head in obvious disappointment. “Sam,” he groaned, rubbing a hand over his eyes. “I told you not to paint yourself silver.”

“Ohhh,” Finn said, registering why Sam didn’t want to wake Kurt. “You didn’t want to wake him, because he told you this would happen.”

“Yes yes yes,” Sam looked to Kurt desperately. “You can lecture me in the morning. Please help me,” Sam begged. He clasped his hands-also silver-and made puppy-dog eyes at Kurt. Kurt, for his part, just looked at him through tired eyes, and sighed again.

“Fine,” he said. “Wait here. Finn, grab the extra washcloths from the cabinet so Sam doesn’t turn this whole bathroom silver.” Kurt strode out of the doorway, Finn tossing Sam a few new washcloths with his order. The pair waited a few minutes, Sam feeling so tired he wondered if it was just best to sleep in the bathroom and wait until morning to clean, just as Kurt reentered, holding a jar in one hand a glass of water in the other.

“Coconut oil,” Kurt told him, setting the jar on the counter and opening it up. “Put this on your skin, wet a washcloth, and it will come off. I suggest taking a shower after since you’ll feel very slick and gross, even if you won’t be silver anymore.” 

“Thank you,” Sam replied, relieved. “What’s the water for?” Finn stood from his seat on the bathtub rim, leaving Sam to finally wash off his mistake.

“Me,” Kurt replied. “It’s why I was up.” Before he could stop him, though, Kurt raised his arm, and quickly took a photo, having hid his phone in his pajama pants pocket. “Thanks for not waking me up. Goodnight Sam, Finn.” With that, Kurt quickly, and somehow quietly, dashed back down the hall to his room, before Sam could grab at him.

“Night dude, Finn said with a laugh. “Have fun. See you in the morning.” Sam could only watch, still too silver for retaliation, as the taller teen left him alone. Groaning for what felt like the 100th time that night, Sam stared back at himself in the mirror.

He was never going to paint himself again. 

Fantastic-Four be damned.

OKAY SO, I am no expert on Broadway Auditions and will be ignoring the absurdity of a completely open audition for a well off revival of a critically acclaimed show like Funny Girl. But I cannot ignore the buffonary of Don’t Stop Believing as an audition song. The fact that she gets the part instead of being laughed right off the stage is ridiculous honestly what even was this show??

I love how much dancing Tina and Kurt and Mercedes get to do in season 1. Especially because later they’re all made fun of and insulted for their lack of skill, or called lazy. 

I mean like Kurt had his little Single Ladies video that Tina was also involved in. And Tina was working on her own dance number during Dream On. And Mercedes got to dance some during Bust Your Windows, as well as be part of the flash mob with Kurt and Tina during Safety Dance 

And who were they dancing with?? Umm, Brittany, Mike, Matt, etc. The ones we’re told are the best dancers on the show. And they all manage to keep pace with them. And I know it’s not the same for Mercedes cause both hers were fantasy sequences but still. Sure the dances were nothing close to, say, winning first place in a big televised dance competition or anything, but they knew she had moves. I mean they wrote her into these numbers and she wasn’t standing still

But nah it was easier to make fun of Kurt’s common moves and say Tina could barely pick up the most generic dances and give Mercedes nothing to do and then call her lazy (: Anyway if anyone ever wonders why season 1 is my fave season then one reason is because my fave characters weren’t being treated like pure horseshit yet. Those things are very related 

Also semi unrelated and I’m not like trying to shit on Naya or anything but the way they told us Santana was one of the best dancers was the same way they told us Finn was the best male vocalist in the group lmao. Like girl where were you during Bust Your Windows huh?? I swear I saw some gifset of the scene where Santana makes fun of Kurt’s three signature moves but instead it’s just Santana’s three signature moves of like. Waving her arms over her head, doing her weird little arm pump thing, and slapping her own ass lmao. But nah I mean she’s good but not like Mike and Brittany good

I need an AU where the TroubleTones win and we get Tina and Quinn and Kurt go to the trouble tones because everyone else is too proud or has other outside issues and Rachel is there until she tries to take over and I need this

Throwing my two cents into the Kurt Hummel hogwarts house debate...

I’ve always treated the house one is sorted into as the house whos characteristics the child values the most. Hence Harry asking for Gryffindor (thus proving he valued bravery more) and Draco (who isn’t particularly cunning or ambitious) who values Slytherin as that is what he has always been told is supreme. And the most obvious example being Hermione with her literal quote in book one about how knowledge is not as valuable as bravery in her eyes.

Slytherin, my own house, is what for a long time I believed Kurt was. But then I started writing this post. Kurt is very ambitions and cunning, however his value on those traits? Very little. In fact I would go as far to say his values would place him in Hufflepuff before Slytherin. Kurt sees how Rachel and Santana (both absolutely Slytherin no arguments) treat others around them and doesn’t always agree or like it. When Blaine tells the warblers that Kurt will be the duet partner without audition Kurt immediately asks about others having a chance. No Slytherin would do that. Kurt may love Rachel but when he is fighting her it’s usually over her ambition going too far. In Audition he and Mercedes are horrified by how Rachel scares off sunshine. He doesn’t value the deviousness of her plan even to object to the content of it. Kurt hated how Sebastian acted and treated others around him (very unslytherin of him because us Slytherins can appreciate our enemies plans even when we hate them so much) and even refuses to take action with Santana.

Kurt is so so brave. He faces that school and everyone who has hurt him every day with determination. And he doesn’t just value bravery in others, he expects it. During prom Queen he expects Dave to use the opportunity to come out because that’s what he would have done. He never really understands that his level of bravery is not common. Until Blaine showed up he had trouble finding someone who would be “just as brave as you are” (Burt Hummel Duets). He stands up to authority (Britney/Brittany, Bad Reputation, and others) and is somewhat disappointed when others around him don’t do the same. Not to mention the chivalry demonstrated by letting Sebatian off the hook. If you look at most of the series he seems like a cut and dry Gryffindor.

However I acknowledge that no one is a cut and dry anything. Kurt is ambitious, but he refuses to even put his ambitions above his family (Wheels). I think Kurt would be a particularly tough placement for the hat. I could go even as far as to say a hatstall. You can legitimately make an argument for any of the houses. But I do think that “Better be... GRYFFINDOR!”
