I’ll say it. I don’t believe in calling them ‘Masky’ and ‘Hoodie’. That’s Tim and Brian

JonMartin is a codependent relationship and I think that’s beautiful.
They need each other to be a reminder that things won’t be okay. If there was a universe where they could be together without the apocalypse, I think they would still be codependent. But they wouldn’t be together, because just as they said, the only reason they ended up with one another was because of the trauma. That trauma bond is something so amazingly messy.
Martin has a tendency to be the fixer-upper, the caretaker, the one who is desperately trying the whole time to be Jon’s supporter and to be there with him through it all. Jon, on the other hand, is completely irredeemable and unfixable. Deep down he so desperately wants to be okay, he wants to lie and think everything is alright so him and Martin can live together in peace. Jon blames himself for everything, Martin blames himself for letting Jon blame himself for everything.
Their relationship is a beautiful push and pull story, to me. They love each other. Martin hates how selfless Jon is, how quick he is to jump to a solution that will harm him. Jon hates how Martin loves him too much to see his point of view, how rational his conclusions are. They lean on each other. They love each other.
