You Literally Give Me Anxiety Before My Bed Time

My heart is aching for Palestine. What hurts even more is how silent the world is.

اللهُمَّ أَصْلِحْ أَحْوَالَ المُسْلِمِِينَ فِي فِلِسطِينَ، اللهُمَّ أَصْلِحْ أَحْوَالَ

المُسْلِمِِينَ فِي فِلِسطِينَ وفي كُلِّ مَكَانٍ، يَا ذَا الجَلالِ وَالإِكْرِامِ.

Allahumma aslih ahwaalal-muslimeena fi filisteen, Allahumma aslih ahwaalal-muslimeena fi filisteena wa fi kulli makaanin ya dhul-jalali wal-ikraam.

O Allah! Rectify the affairs of the Muslims in Palestine. O Allah! Rectify the affairs of the Muslims in Palestine and in every place, O Lord of Majesty and Bounty.

اللهُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ مَغْلُوبُونَ فَانْتَصِرْ لَهُمْ.

Allahumma innahum maghloobuna fantasir lahum.

O Allah! They are helpless, so help them.

رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْهِمْ صَبْراً وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَهُمْ وَانْصُرْهُمْ عَلَى القَوْمِ

الكَافِرِينَ.

Rabbana afrigh ‘alayhim sabran wa thabbit aqdamahum wansurhum ‘alal-qawmil- kafireen.

Our Lord! Pour upon them patience, make them steadfast, and grant them victory over the Disbelivers.

اللهُمَّ مَكِّرْ لَهُمْ، وَاكْفِهِمْ بِمَا شِئْتَ إِنْ تَنْصُرْهُمْ فَلا غَالِبَ لَهُمْ، وَإِنْ

تَخْذُلْهُمْ فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذي يَنْصُرهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ.

Allahumma makkir lahum, wakfihim bimaa shi’t. In tansurhum falaa ghaliba lahum, wa in takhdhulhum fa man dhal-ladh’ yansurhum min ba’dika.

O Allah! Plot for them, and suffice them with what You please, if You support them then nobody can overpower them, and if You forsake them, then who will be able to support them after You?

لا إِلاَ إِلا اللهُ العَظيمُ الحَليم، لا إِلهَ إِلا اللهُ رَبَّ العَرْشِ العَظِيمِ، لا

إلهَ إِلا اللهُ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَتِ وَرَبُّ الأَرْضِ وَرَبُّ العَرْشِ الكَرِيمِ.

La ilaha illAllahul adhimul-haleem. La ilaha illAllahu, rabbul-arshil- adheem. La ilaha illAllahu rabbus-samawaati wa rabbul-ardi wa rabbul-arshil- kareem.

There is no God but Allah, the Mighty the Forebearing, there is no God but Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne, There is no God but Allah, Lord of the Heavens and Lord of the Earth and Lord of the Noble Throne

اللهُمَّ مََنْ أَرادَنَا وَبِلادَنَا وَالمُسْلِمِينَ بِسُوءٍ فَأَشْغِلْهُ فِي نَفْسِهِ، وَاجْعَلْ

كَيْدَهُ فِي نَحْرِهِ، وَاجْعَلْ تَدْبِيرَهُ تَدْمِيرَه.

Allahumma man aradana wa biladina bi su’in fash-ghilhu fi nafsih, waj’al kaydahu fi nahrih, waj’al tadbirahu tadmeerah.

O Allah! Whoever wants to harm us and our lands and the Muslims, then keep them busy with their own troubles, and return their plots to their own necks, and make their plans the cause of their own destruction

اللهُمَّ شَتِّتْ شَمْلَهُمْ، وَمَزِّقْ جَمْعَهُمْ، وَخَرِّبْ دِيَارَهُمْ، وَدَمِّرْ

أَسْلِحَتَهُمْ، اللهُمَّ أَنْزِلْ عَلَيْهِمُ الأَعَاصيرَ المُدَمِّرَةَ، وَالأَمْرَاضَ الفَتَّاكَةَ

Allahumma shattit shamlahum, wa mazziq jam’ahum, wa kharrib diyarahum, wa dammir aslihatahum. Allahumma anzil ‘alayhimul-a’ aseeral-mudammir a wal-amradal- fattaaka

O Allah! Disperse their gatherings and shatter their unity, demolish their houses, destroy their weapons.. O Allah! Send upon them destructive hurricanes, and fatal disease

Adakah prinsip baik yang dulu kau yakini, namun makin bertambah umurmu kau mulai melupakannya?

Beberapa malam lalu, seorang guru membahas satu hal sederhana. Tapi bagiku ia bagai sambaran petir luarbiasa. Tausiyah itu berjudul: "Uluwwul Himmah", semangat yang tinggi.

"Kita tidak bangkit dan maju, karena himmah kita receh. Semangat kita redup", sebuah kalimat yang sebenarnya biasa, tapi ia menggugat kepala para manusia dewasa yang mulai menyerah pada mimpi-mimpinya.

Untuk bersemangat saja, banyak di antara kita yang mulai enggan.

Sihir rutinitas membuat kita mati rasa. Semangat besar yang dulu pernah berkobar bahkan kita senyumi sinis karena kita menganggapnya polos dan tak berguna. Beberapa di antara kita, sekadar semangat saja sudah tak punya. Apatah lagi untuk menyelesaikan impian dengan sempurna.

Dulu, kita yakin betul dengan mimpi. Dulu, kita antuasias untuk lakukan banyak hal dengan penuh energi.

Ya, aku tahu realitas membuat kita kaku. Kenyataan meremukkan ekspektasi. Komentar orang membuat kita enggan mencoba lagi. Tapi, apa cuma segitu kita pernah punya nyali?

Tausiyah malam itu, tentang "Uluwwul Himmah", tentang memiliki semangat nan tinggi untuk mewujudkan hal besar. Itu kan yang sering kita bahas ketika masih berseragam putih abu-abu? Ia hadir lagi menggedor pikiran dewasamu yang mulai menjalani hidup sekadarnya saja.

Pantas saja ada orang yang hidupnya hanya sampai usia dua puluh lima, tapi baru dikubur ketika umurnya tujuh puluh lima.

Mari merenung kembali atas perjalanan yang sudah lumayan jauh ini. Adakah ia telah menyerah; atau masih yakin dan punya kemauan mengubah keadaan?

I think Hannibal and Clarice would end up as a normal couple with secret that you shouldn't know about it.

I think I’m one of those weirdos that actually think Clarice and Hannibal do not become a murder couple at the end of Hannibal the novel. If Hannibal murders, I don’ think Clarice is included. They are both perfectly willing to kill, but will not engage in murdering the rude.

I also don’t think they’re engaging in cannibalism. In fact I’m sure of it.

I read the book. They have servants. They allow people into their home. Someone else cooks for them. The only place servant are forbidden to enter is the top floor of the house before noon because Starling and Lecter are lazy asses.

Note, I do not expect this from my RP partners. If I wanted everything exactly as canon, I would re-read the book.

Palestinians are not "animals."

They are not "children of darkness."

Little kids are rescuing cats and trying to comfort them when they themselves are terrified.

A doctor broke down when his father and brother came into the trauma unit.

And several of his colleagues hugged and gathered to comfort him.

Journalists are playing with babies.

Doctors are refusing to evacuate hospitals because their patients can't and refuse to leave them.

There's a little boy who gives tea to the journalists and thanks them for spreading their stories.

He's displaced at the hospital, his home is gone.

A kid was asked what he wants to be when he grows up and he said kids in Gaza don't grow up.

Kids are writing their names on their arms so they can be identified.

Momin Kireka is a Palestinian journalist who was disabled by an Israeli attack in 2008.

And despite the difficulty in moving around, he vows to continue to show the world the truth.

Awni, a young Palestinian boy has a gaming YouTube channel he loved so much.

He was killed in the bombing.

Mohammed Sami was an artist who's dream was to open an art gallery.

He was playing with the kids to raise their spirits. And the next day he was killed.

They are victims.

They are going through unimaginable horrors and still find it in their hearts to be kind.

They have hopes and dreams just like you and I.

They are people.

And they deserve to be recognised and known as such.

Just be real, it saves everyone’s time.

Kalimat itu membantu saya untuk tegas berkata iya jika memang iya, dan berkata tidak jika memang tidak. Sebab tidak enakan membunuh kita perlahan-lahan.

Lebih baik be real, jadi kita apa adanya. Dan itu menghemat waktu semua orang.

Mungkin yang seperti ini tidak cocok bagi seorang politisi yang mesti menentukan timing paling cocok agar bisa berkoalisi atau oposisi.

Tapi buat orang-orang ngga enakan seperti saya, ternyata lebih nyaman dan melegakan jika ngomong saja langsung di depan.

Ada pepatah bahasa Arab, "fii sharahah, raahah", dalam keterusterangan, ada istirahat sebenarnya.

Memang sulit. Saya juga masih harus belajar. Tapi saya makin merasakan bahwa ternyata orang juga suka dengan terus terang. Ia jadi merasa lega dan tak ada dinding tebal keraguan.
