If there's anything I'm proud of today, it's that my Halloween pumpkin that I doodled at my day job today managed to earn me a Pez dispenser that's shaped like Eleven from Stranger Things.
I am weirdly proud of myself for this
It’s finally InkTober, and I ended up going peak millennial with the Day 1 prompt of “Ring” for some reason—probably because I was waiting on the Chinese food I order and I was really hungry for dinner.
Anyway, have this peak 2010s onion ring and banner thing.
Here's an after-work selfie that absolutely no one asked for! Also, yes, I do have a day job. Sometimes it's why I come home and then don't do any art or design. Not always, but sometimes.
Things I don't like about DuoLingo; generally not understanding the contextual nature of things. Also, not taking my spelling of theatre. Plebs.
Gonna do another Twitch Stream soon! Feel free to stop on by in the near future!
I have learned that watching Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure all over again when you already know the exact flow of the story yields some interesting tidbits—particularly, bits of dialogue and animation are really beautiful examples of foreshadowing, and I’m just like “Ah! That’s so cool!”
Unfortunately, me and my spoiler hound attitude has screwed up one of my roommates. The other one is new to Jojo, and I have to reign in the first roommate so that the second one isn’t spoiled when he doesn’t want to be, and it’s weird to be vaguely told “well, I got used to you being ok with spoilers!”, and it’s like...
...ay, even spoiler hounds gotta have manners around others who aren’t.
Ok, so I managed to finish the illustration components for the cover of the webcomic I wanted to get to, and do some of the logo revision work on the side.
Additionally, I think I have an additional reason to continue streaming on a weekly basis—namely, because I can make 15-minute silly fan art like this with the power of peer suggestion.
(BTW, the Spiders Rohan badge is transparent, for all of your transparency needs.)
I’m dead serious about this seamless dolphin vector pattern I made a while ago.
I ended up scrapping this a while ago, simply because pastel dolphins really aren’t something that fits in with the rest of my main portfolio, but...yeah...I did make this a while ago.
Dolphins. Yeah.
I’m gonna make it a point to do my streams on Thursdays, so feel free to drop on in to watch me draw and nitpick over a webcomic that doesn’t have that many pages!
I learned that Tapastic lets you put image banners up for your comics. I still wanted one for Twitch, so I did a speedpaint of my planned webcomic’s five main protagonists to get a feel for composition and color planning.
I’m glad that I had a pretty solid idea of what I want my two high elf characters and my one human character to look like, but the furry creature and the dwarf are difficult to pin down in terms of color scheme, and I’ve been struggling to figure out what I’m going to do for them. I think I’m getting somewhat close to what I want for the furry critter, but the dwarf guy is harder to pin down.
That said, the moral of the story is that designing characters in black and white at first makes it difficult to pin down their colors later.
Oh, and as a fun fact, I’m a filthy Orlandoan who’s been corrupted by Disney so much that I’ve made the big tol dude do the Disney point. lol, it’s bad, I’ll do the Universal handwave and/or the Disney point IRL, and it upsets me.
I learned that Adobe Capture is a thing from one of my classmates. This is probably more useful for custom logo typography (Because my preferred illustration style usually doesn't entail vectors, and I don't like how the nuance of the previous line work is gone now), but I tested it on a sketch I never finished. I may fiddle with it a bit more in the future. It may prove to be a useful tool.
Greetings and salutations! I'm a graphic designer/illustrator, and this is my Tumblr. Feel free to check my about page for more info about me. Also, I only post my own things here—almost all reblogs will go to @dandyreblogs. Check that out if you're into aesthetics and other curious things.
