“Because extinction has always been a great mystery. It’s happened five major times on this planet, and not always because of an asteroid. Everyone’s interested in the Cretaceous die-out that killed the dinosaurs, but there were die-outs at the end of the Jurassic and the Triassic as well. They were severe, but they were nothing compared to the Permian extinction, which killed ninety percent of all life on the planet, on the seas and on the land. No one knows why that catastrophe happened. But I wonder if we are the cause of the next one.” “How is that?” Kelly said.” ― Michael Crichton, The Lost World

im losing my marbles over the fact that elita SAID that she was happy that dee had someone close to him. she said she was happy he found someone like that but he had to balance hanging out with orion and his work like WHICH IS GENUINE GOOD ADVICE.
and then dee still said that orion was insignificant... he didn't need to somehow prove that orion wasn't a distraction. he didn't need to make it clear that orion didn't mean anything to him. elita knows that orion means something. and she congratulated dee on finding someone like that. and then dee still turned around and denounced it. ohhhh my heart.
and the fact that ORION HEARD THE WHOLE CONVERSATION..... it's not even miscommunication, orion has all of the context. it's just flat out dee denying that he means anything to him. and dee means so so much to orion. i cannot see any way this will end badly /silly
YOU'RE RIGHT AND THIS IS PERFECT SUMMARY OF WHAT I WAS TRYING TO CONVEYED OH MY GOD I'M GOING TO KISS YOU
People were saying it's Elita's fault like NO! Don't baby D-16 here, it's all him. In that moment, he felt that his feelings for Orion were a weakness or a wound that the public could sneer and poke at but that's not it at all??? He was trying to overcompensate for his lack of security and and in turn said things that hurt Orion.
We all say things that we didn't think through and when it hurts people, WE SUCK IT UP AND TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY. There's no miscommunication, that boy did this to himself
“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

“I don’t chase people anymore. I learned that I’m here, and I’m important. I’m not going to run after people to prove that I matter.”

Just thinking about how different Season 3 Kieran is from Season 1 Kieran tonight.
Season 1 Kieran would have never shared cake with Lauren or looked that relaxed around her. He saw her as a means to an end, primarily. He saw her lie detecting ability and her detective skills and how useful she is, not much else.
He is also far more tense in Season 1. Less free. Less at peace.
It starts to change, right before the Tower Incident. Kieran and Lauren have a brief moment of vulnerability, but they’re still pretty standoffish. Kieran is less settled because he still cannot see a way out of being an assassin, even though they did a lot of work against the Phantom Scythe.
In Season 3, though, he is more genuine, more open, and he has hope. He has hope that his assassin days are at their end. He had hope that he might be free from the Phantom Scythe. And he has someone to be genuine with, someone who will help him and someone he can be more free with.
Through Season 2, Kieran came to see Lauren as more than what she could do for him and his mission. He came to see her as a person worth protecting, a person worth knowing, a person with whom Kieran could let down his guard with, even if it’s only slightly.
That change is so evident in that scene in episode 148.
In the memory, Kieran has his devil may care mask on, smirking and enjoying the scene in front of him, but not at peace, with no hope, and with no connection. He was only an observer. In the present time, he has connection, he has hope, he is working towards freedom and peace.
He has something to live for.
“He says: ‘The capitalistic world killed the artist in me.’ He sees as coming from outside all that comes from inside. I know the artist in him must have been very weak to be defeated by this obstacle at all. Limitations, restrictions, defeats, come from within. I am fully responsible for my own restrictions.”
