This is the lovely kimono that I am so proud to own! A few years back, Umeno okiya was selling a few of their pieces, and I was so privileged to be able to purchase this. I feel like I was able to contribute in my small way to the purchase of new hikizuri for the okiya. 💕👘 To have a piece that belonged to the beautiful and talented ladies at Umeno is beyond perfect. 😍🙏🏼

Interesting kimono at the Baltimore Museum of Art’s exhibit “Kimono and Obi: Romantic Echos from Japan’s Golden Age.” It was commissioned by an American man for his wife for their vow renewal. The Japanese artisan couldn’t create a traditional wedding kimono as the woman was already married. And felt that a kurotomesode worn by married relatives of the bride would be wrong as well.
