The way Neil trully cares about Jean makes my heart warm
Like, he makes sure to include Jean on his deal with Ichirou, he offers to ditch the FBI so Jean can process what happened to his sister, he guarantees Jean's abuser will never get close to him again, he always picks Jean's calls (even though he ignores when most ppl call him, bc he actually hates cellphones and calls)
Can we appreciate the fact that Neil answers to Jean calls? Like, Jean is one of the few people that has the privilege to get Neil to pick up his calls
a kevjean edit to irish orpheus? more likely than you’d think
first ever edit, pretty fitting that it’s kevin day-related tbh
can we repost with Neil Jostens search history
credits to this post for giving me the idea
reyna and nico are so criminally underrated as a duo.
i just finished rereading BoO, and the significance their relationship has in that book as compared to the content (or lack thereof) of their relationship ive seen in media SHOCKED me.
i genuinely think reyna was a significant part of what helped him open up to people. with her powers, she could see all of his pain and struggles-- note, so much that the GODDESS OF MISERY said she couldn't do anything to trouble him more-- and stuck with him. she supported him, literally and figuratively, every time shadow travelling drained him, through all the bad and the ugly. she had nico hailed as a hero, by both camps that ostracized him, after the end of the battle with the monsters. she gave him--the boy who hates touch--a hug, and he had to fight himself not to break down in her arms.
even further than that, nico was there for her for all of the issues with the ghosts of her family-- something reyna has avoided and ran from ALL HER LIFE. with reyna winning the award for the most complex character with the least actual insight and focus on her character, that is MONUMENTAL
the fandom likes LEO AND CALYPSO's relationship but they underrate THEM?
i saw someone say that cal and kilorn are like adhd + autism but which one is which???
And the fact Andrew doesnt feel threatned by Neil's ability to pick locks, bc he trusts Neil entirely and knows that Neil will never cross his boundarys, even if he is able to
you ever think about how important keys are to neil and locks are to andrew and how they're also the only characters in the series shown to be able to pick them. because i do. im actually always thinking about neil liking having keys bcus it means he belongs somewhere and therefore doesnt need to pick the lock. im always thinking about how andrew needs locks to feel safe and how neil's respect of that boundary despite having the tools to cross it is the reason andrew even lets him in. im thinking about it.
No, they dont realize it
Because they talked about the Holocaust, but they didnt talk about how hate spreads, how authoritarians regimes come to power, how all minorities can be victims, who and what interests persecution serves
They talked about the Holocaust like if jews were the only victims, like if the only way it would happen again is if the events of the past repeated themselfs exactly as they happened in 1930s/40s
Zionists have been propagating the idea that jews are the only potential victims of a new holocaust. So there is no problem if Trump talks about immigrants the same way (with almost the same exact words) Hitler talked abt the jewish ppl. There is no problem if Israeli authorities openly claim they want to commit genocide and ethinic cleansing. There is no problem if believing a racial or ethinic group should have total control over certain territory IS the whole base of nazism. As long as the persecuted group isnt the jewish population, then it is not a Holocaust.
It is sad, but thats the reality
Talking about the Holocaust isnt enough to stop it from happening again. Knowing that Nazi germany killed 6 million jews serves no pourpuse if we are all unable to spot the signs of history repeating itself with other ethinic/racial/religious minorities
Israel is the new Nazi Germany.
I hated that he was using it to defend his drinking problem
But at the same time I liked he so boldly admitted to be number 1 and most of all, to always have been
He says that the last person who tried to take it from him died. Which means that he had always been the best (which we know is true), even before Riko broke his hands
Here he clearly states things how they were: Kevin was the best striker and Riko was always trying to take this spot from him (either by using his place of power to bully him into acting like if he was second or by ultimately breaking his hand)
And I liked that he did it so naturally
Some time ago he would have never been able to say or even think something like that
Still pisses me off that he was using this to defend he could drink all he wanted (bc he already was the best and the one who tried to take it away from him died, so he is unchallenged)
If he was sober and not saying it to justify being an alcoholic it would have been a full diva slays moment
I know a lot found Kevin’s checkmate line hilarious and very diva but I have to say it wasn’t funny and Kevin depressed me in this book🥲
Exy exy exy exy exy exy exy and drinking every time he has to talk about the nest & Riko.
Kay, so obviously we’re never getting an AFTG tv show, but can you imagine the comedic gold of some of it being shot in the mockumentary style as “The Office”
Like, obviously not the more traumatic or gory scenes, but, like the first tv interview with Kathy? The “you know I get it” speech? Getting everyone’s first thoughts on Neil joining the team? Watching Wymack realize that Andriel is a thing? Do you see the vision
This physically hurted me😭
I don't think we talk enough about:
“She prayed for a dragon to save her.”
“Not a prince?”
“A dragon could tear our house apart to free her and carry her far away.”
This line made me feel physical pain
