Transatlantic (Steve Rogers One Shot)

image

Written for the Cap 2 Challenge by @justsomebucky and @imhereforbvcky

Prompt: ‘Be safe, if you can be’

Summary: After Peggy rejects Steve, he finds company in you, a British Brigadier who is more than meets the eye.

Pairing: Steve x Female Reader (with surname. First name is your own)

Warnings: Angst (Possible proof reading errors)

_______

Striking out with Peggy was the worst thing that had happened to Steve.

One stupid misunderstanding and she’d frozen him out. He was just staring at the map on the wall with a sense of melancholy, not even fully appreciating that he’d got Bucky back.

“That’s a sour face,” came a female voice from his right. “Chewing on a wasp?”

He turned around to see you, in a different kind of uniform, wearing pants and a Brigadier’s sash. Had you got those on by mistake or were all girls adept at kicking ass like Peggy over in Britain?

“Sorry?”

“You look a little glum,” you smile kindly. “Anything I can help with?”

“No, no I’m good. Thank you,” he blinks in bewilderment. “Uh…sorry if this is rude but…umm….”

“It’s the threads, isn’t it?” you look down and laugh. “Confused more than my fair share of Yanks lately with it. I was in the women’s auxiliary engineering corps but there was a bit of an accident you see.”

Lucasfilm Did Not Fire Gina Carano From The Mandalorian For Being Transphobic:

Her being Transphobic is not at all okay either but,

Anti-Semitism is not talked about enough.

She basically just compared Holocaust victims to being a Republican. Do you realize how fucked up that is?!

I’m Jewish. I really don’t like when someone compares the genocide of 6 million of my people to being a Republican. When was the last time 6 million Republicans were murdered via gas chambers?

People need to know that this was why she got fired. Don’t you dare just like this post!

REBLOG IT

Had a long talk with a friend about tumblr after going on hiatus. I didn't actually know if I'd ever touch my beloved hellsite again.

Because... I'd hit a breaking point. I couldn't stand it anymore.

There's so much bullshit everywhere you look.

So much goddamn drama.

I'm an observational person by nature. I watch and I pay attention. I'm always cataloging information whether I mean to or not. It's just how my brain works.

And all I saw was... Pain.

Everyone hurting each other for no reason other than a difference in opinion on FICTIONAL PEOPLE. That exist in a world that is also FICTIONAL. Or about CELEBRITIES that they will never know on a personal level.

We can all feel close to an actor or musician, etc.

But in the end?

We don't know these people.

We get shown a side of who they are.

They're actors. Some of them so mind-blowing at it that it's breathtaking. Wouldn't you think they could present a certain persona if they wanted to? Anytime they wanted to?

I'm not saying what we're seeing isn't real. That who they're presenting to us isn't true to them.

I'm not saying it isn't organic.

What I'm saying is that we don't know them on a personal everyday life level to be able to properly evaluate what kind of person they are.

Belittling and torturing someone with emotional trauma? Because of that?

That mentality is in need of a sharp hip check.

When I say that what I mean is this:

Sometimes you get so deeply immersed in a world and a way of thinking that reality slips away a little. You stop seeing things as clearly. As rationally. You stop seeing people as people.

I've personally had to hip check myself many times in the last year. Many, many, times. Because I got caught up in the euphoria of it all.

I acquired blorbo vision.

Several times I had to pull back, take those blorbo vision glasses off, and take a breath.

Reevaluate.

I would take time to consider if the things that were upsetting me were something that merited it. If it was something of any actual consequence.

And every time?

It wasn't.

It didn't matter in the face of human decency.

It didn't matter because fandom is make believe.

Every inch of it is fiction. Even the ones that revolve around real people. It's all fiction.

But what isn't fiction?

The person behind your favorite blog isn't fiction.

The person behind the blog that makes you feel like screaming and cursing isn't fiction.

But the arguments?

That goes back into fiction land.

There's dissecting a film because it's fascinating or vile.

Then there's thinking that moment of fiction is worth someone taking their life. That we need to argue over the merits of something that happens in fiction like it's on our own front porch. That something happening in fiction has any bearing on real life ideals.

I have been in fandom for over twenty years.

I am a card carrying elder at this point.

And this shit? This new wave of toxic mental warfare?

Fuck that shit.

All of it.

I would say that fandom in it's current form can go to hell but, it already is hell.

My friend did talk sense into me about the situation, though.

Going forward it's gonna be idgaf land:

I'm tried of censoring my opinions.

I'm tired of fandoms bullshit politics.

I'm tired of the drama.

I'm tired of being told what I should think and who I should be and what is acceptable for me to feel.

That shit? Can get fucked. I'm done with it.

Fandom is for fun.

Fandom is for screaming yourself hoarse to your friends about how much you love a character, a show, a book, a graphic novel, a band; anything and everything that makes you feel like a four year old with your brain all lit up like it's fucking Christmas morning.

It is not about being pushed into a goddamn box and being told to behave.

It's not about being shunned for having your own opinions and emotions.

It's not about being told you'll have your privileges removed if you step out of line.

A line that someone else has drawn with invisible ink.

That shit? Can also get fucked.

Say goodbye to censoring and hello to idgaf I'm here to enjoy my blorbos and be stupid. 👋👋👋

Fandom is for fun.

Why do you reblog your own fics so much?

Because someone might as well!? And look at this. Look. At. This.

Why Do You Reblog Your Own Fics So Much?
Why Do You Reblog Your Own Fics So Much?
Why Do You Reblog Your Own Fics So Much?

Does this look right to you??

These are just the last three fics I wrote. I appreciate the likes, believe me I do, but you have to understand. Likes do nothing for content creators. It’s the reblogs. Because that’s how you find shit on your dashboard. Through reblogs. Not likes. This isn’t twitter or tiktok or instagram. This is a website that’s run by the reblog system.

Reblogging helps content creators put their stuff out there. Why do you think so many people stopped writing fanfic and creating beautiful fanart and edits? It’s because they put in hours of work and don’t get nearly enough notes for their masterpieces. Yes we do this because we enjoy it but like...some validation won’t hurt. A boost of confidence here and there might be all someone needs to finish whatever thing they started and left.

Anyway, I’m still going to reblog my shit...

Seasons Change

Pairing: Javier Peña x f!reader

Summary: Miserable and lonely after Chucho drags him to the farmers' market in town, Javier's day turns around when he runs into you asking for his help.

Warnings: Javi being a little depressed/down on himself, fluff, meet-cute, tiny bit of possessiveness, flirting

WC: 3.2K

For @jolapeno & @goodwithcheese's fall challenge: I picked Javi P + Farmers' Market 🍂

thank you @saradika-graphics for the dividers ❤️

-

Javier stared out the passenger window of his father's old truck, sulking in his seat with his arms crossed. The changing leaves blurred by on the side of the road: deep reds, bright yellows and oranges, and the occasional stubborn green. Fall was certainly in the air, so much so that he had to pull on his red checkered flannel before Chucho practically dragged him out the door, muttering to him in Spanish about how he never leaves the ranch and getting a change of scenery would be good for him.

But Javier didn't like to leave the ranch. He didn't like the looks he got, the whispers he heard, and especially hated when some stranger insisted on stopping him with a firm handshake to express how proud they were of him.

He always had to bite his tongue. He politely nodded and smiled, but inevitably the ride home was always filled with distressing images of innocents caught in the crossfire, or the shady deals he felt he had to make with the wrong sort of people just to get a lead. Every time he shook one of their hands, more blood transferred to his own palm, and now he felt like he could never get them clean.

But he couldn't explain all that to his father, although Chucho likely had some inkling. He must have noticed the change in him, the shift, when he returned home. When he asked his son why he didn't want to buy a place of his own, why he didn't want privacy, Javier replied it's easier, don't have to wake up so early and drive over to help.

But Chucho wasn't stupid. He knew Javier had nightmares, he saw the clouds in his eyes the following mornings, could practically see the weight pulling his son down around his neck.

Javier didn't want to be alone, but he was too proud to say it.

"Quit pouting. Maybe you'll meet someone," he offered from the driver's seat. Javi scoffed and shook his head.

"What? You're a catch, m'hijo."

"It's not that, Pop," Javi said, although a big part of him was beginning to wonder if he really did have anything to offer a woman anymore. "I know everyone in this town. There's no one here for me."

"You don't know that," his father replied sternly. "The farmers' market brings in customers from all over. You could meet the love of your life today."

Javi tilted his head and gave Chucho an incredulous look.

"You gettin' sick of me, Pop?"

His father laughed heartily and shook his head as he turned into the parking lot.

"You know I love having you around, Javi. Just wish you'd have a reason to smile more."

Seasons Change

Chucho abandoned him ten minutes into arriving, claiming he wanted to check in with a couple friends from neighboring farms, and encouraged his son to wander around to see if anything interesting caught his eye.

Javi was beginning to think his presence at the ranch wasn't as necessary as he thought. When he left Colombia, he had expected to arrive home to a mess, but the ranch was in surprisingly good shape. Not only that, but his father was busy. He had to give his dad credit - he had a lot of friends and a hell of a lot more night and weekend plans than himself. Chucho was even casually seeing a woman he met at the pharmacy two months ago.

Javier was wallowing in self-pity when he heard a man and woman's voices a few feet away discussing which cheeses they should buy that would best complement the crackers they had waiting for them at home.

He glanced up and saw the man and woman holding hands and gazing at one another like they were madly in love. Something sharp twisted in his chest at the display, so he tore his eyes away to focus on a package of bread he held in his hands, doing his best to ignore that familiar twitch in his fingers, the one that wanted to lead his hand to his shirt pocket for a pack of cigarettes that wasn't there.

"Hey, buddy, excuse us," the man's voice said, cutting through Javier's fog. His eyes snapped up and after a moment of confusion, realized he was in the happy couple's way. He dropped the bread and stepped back with a tight smile, then shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans and turned away.

It took all of thirty seconds to realize he was completely surrounded by happy couples picking out flowers, fresh produce, and unique trinkets sold by locals. He normally wouldn't care. His focus lately had been entirely fixed on his father and the ranch, surprising even himself that women were the furthest thing from his mind. But something Chucho said that morning must have gotten under his skin because on that particular day, he felt lonely. Out of place. Tainted.

He saw a few people doing a double take as they passed by, no doubt recognizing him and whispering to their partner about his exploits. And just like that, it all felt like too much. The sun was too bright, the scent of apples and cinnamon was too heavy, the laughter was too loud.

He didn't belong there.

Javier swiveled around on his heel, deciding in that moment he would rather wait by his father's truck for an hour than subject himself to... whatever was happening to him. He managed to take one step when a pair of arms wrapped around his bicep, surprising him when he looked down to find a pair of bright beautiful eyes staring back up at him.

"I need your help," you whispered, fingers digging urgently into his arm. Immediately, the hairs on the back of his neck stood up and he scanned the crowd for danger. When you realized that you sounded a little alarmist, you quickly corrected yourself.

"Not like that. My ex is standing right behind you and I need you to play along because-"

You didn't get to finish your sentence and Javi hardly had a chance to process what you just said because the next thing he knew, your eyes flickered over his shoulder and you plastered a fake smile across your face.

"Charlie, hi!" you gushed, clinging to Javi's arm.

"Hey," a shorter man with light brown hair replied slowly, followed by your name. Javier repeated your name over and over in his head while Charlie's eyes bounced between the two of you, the gears churning. Even Javi could see the look of disappointment slide across his face.

"I've been thinking about you, wondering if you changed your number, but..." Charlie trailed off weakly. Then, for some reason, Javier stood up a little straighter when a flash of annoyance shot through him. Who the hell did this guy think he was? For all Charlie knew, you were in a loving and committed relationship with him. How dare he admit to trying to contact you with your boyfriend standing right there?

"Javier," he suddenly said, deepening his voice and stretching out an arm while simultaneously giving Charlie a stern look that said back off.

"Sorry!" you exclaimed from his side. "Charlie, this is my boyfriend, Javier."

Javi puffed up his chest and shook the man's hand a little harder than he usually would, secretly enjoying the look of discomfort on his face.

"Hey, man, nice to meet you," he replied, then Javi saw it. The flash in his eyes, the double take, the familiar look of someone trying to place who he was.

Javier cleared his throat and slid his arm out of your grasp, only to drape it protectively around your shoulders instead. Much to his delight, you leaned into his side and rested your hand on his chest, your touch making his heart unexpectedly flutter.

"Is there something wrong?" you asked Charlie innocently while batting your lashes. Slowly, your ex shook his head and forced an awkward smile.

"No, just... just happy to see you. Glad you're doing well."

"We're great," you replied. Javi's lips twitched and he had to look away. For just a moment, he wasn't the pathetic single guy at the Farmers' Market. For those few minutes, he was yours.

"Alright, well, I'll see you around I guess," Charlie said as he took a single step backwards. His eyes slid to Javi and he added, "Nice to meet you."

"Take care," he called after Charlie, his arm remaining around your shoulders until he slinked back into the crowd. You let out a huge sigh of relief and stepped out from under his hold, Javi's side instantly feeling cooler from the lack of contact.

"Thank you so much," you said, gazing up at him while you readjusted the bag over your shoulder. "You're, like, the only other person here without someone so I figured you were a safe bet, I hope you don't mind."

Javi smiled. So he wasn't the only one who noticed all the adoring couples. "Not at all. Is he bothering you? I know some guys down at the station-"

"No! Oh, god, no, nothing like that," you exclaimed with a giggle. "He's harmless, he just can't accept it's over, you know?"

"Yeah," he replied, but he didn't know. Not really. Not when he filled the past several years of his life with quick trysts.

You quirked an eyebrow at him, scanning his face for something, and then he felt that familiar churning in his stomach begin. You were about to connect the dots, about to recognize him for who he really was, so he dropped his gaze to the ground. But then your next question took him by surprise.

"How do you know people at the station? Are you a cop?"

He dragged his eyes up to meet yours again, searching for any sign that you were messing with him, but he found none. Just genuine curiosity.

"No," he replied, then awkwardly cleared his throat and shifted his weight. "Well, I used to be, but not here. I work on a ranch now with my Pops."

"Oh, that sounds nice. How kind of you to help out your dad," you said with a sweet smile that held him in a trance for a moment.

"Uh, y-yeah," Javi stammered before tearing his gaze away. "Seems like he doesn't need me as much as I thought, though."

You laughed again, the sound like music to his ears.

"I'm sure that's not true. I bet you're very helpful. You helped me today, so, there's that," you reminded him, leaning forward a little bit and biting your lip playfully. Were you flirting with him?

"That was nothing," Javi replied sheepishly. His mind began to race, trying to desperately think of ideas to keep you around before it became clear his usefulness had come to an end. Then, to his delight, you came up with an answer all by yourself.

"Well, do you mind continuing to help me? Because I wanted to buy some pumpkins and a hay bale for my front porch -"

"Yes," he responded almost immediately. The eagerness in his voice made you both blush and you reached out for his hand.

"My hero."

He grinned and let his fingers lace together with yours, your warmth spreading to his palm as you walked hand in hand through the market. Javi couldn't stop smiling. He was still surrounded by couples, all the smiling and happy faces, but now he didn't feel so out of place. Now he blended right in with everyone else because he had you by his side, leading him around to different vendors to show him something you found interesting or strange. And in those ten short minutes, he realized he wanted to hear it all. He wanted to know why you wrinkled your nose when you passed by some eggplants, or smiled fondly when you saw some colorful homemade crafts.

You suggested getting some hot chocolate and finding a spot to sit down, something he felt foolish for not thinking of first, but at least he had the good sense to insist on buying while he waved you off to find an empty bench.

"So, Javier," you began, saying his name in a way that made warmth bloom in his chest. "You said you used to be a cop and now you work on a ranch. Is there a story there or were you just looking to shake things up?"

He squinted at you over his hot chocolate, like he was trying to figure out if it was possible you really didn't know who he was. But you just kept looking at him so sweetly, your fingers curled around the paper cup, your lips blowing air over the liquid to cool it down, giving absolutely no indication you were being dishonest.

"Do you really not know who I am?" he blurted out. Your eyebrows shot up and you cocked your head to the side.

"Should I?"

Javi smirked and leaned back on the bench in disbelief.

"No. Well, not necessarily. Guess I'm just used to it."

"Used to... people recognizing you?" you asked. He nodded and figured now he was in too deep, so he told you. He told you about Escobar and the Cali Cartel while leaving out a few of the sensitive details, details that still haunted him at night. He didn't tell you why he wasn't a hero, he didn't tell you about Los Pepes. He didn't tell you how all the pain and lives lost made hardly any difference.

He didn't tell you he felt like a complete failure every time he saw those damn boats cruise by the ranch.

"Oh," you finally murmured when he stopped talking. He chewed anxiously on his lower lip, waiting for your reaction. But after you took a moment to absorb what he said, you brightened up and shrugged.

"I'm so glad you're working on a ranch, now. It sounds much safer."

He slowly nodded in agreement.

"Except when the cows get hungry, they get a little pushy."

You giggled and a wide smile stretched across his face.

"Jav! There you are," Chucho's voice called from a few feet away, putting a quick end to both your laughter. His heart sank when he realized his time with you was about to end.

"Pops," Javi said in greeting. You both stood from the bench to face him, ignoring the mischievous look on his father's face when he introduced you. Javi pulled nervously at his hair when he ran his fingers through the thick locks, scrambling to figure out what to say after Chucho announced he was ready to leave.

"Wait, I promised I'd help carry the pumpkins and hay-" he began, grateful that he thought of something to prolong your time together. Your eyes dropped shyly to the ground and you lowered your voice.

"I didn't actually come here to buy that stuff, I was just looking for a reason to keep talking to you."

His father coughed into his fist and hitched his thumb over his shoulder. "I'll meet you at the truck, m'hijo."

Javi nodded and he may have said something but for the life of him, he couldn't remember. His heart was thudding too loudly in his chest at your confession. You liked him. You wanted to keep him around.

"Well, uh, it was great meeting you," he said, thumb and forefinger swiping over his mustache. You smiled up at him, murmuring your agreement and thanking him again for saving you from Charlie.

Do it. Do it, you coward.

But he couldn't. His nerves got the best of him and he took a couple steps backwards.

"Maybe I'll see you around," he said, cringing at how stupid he sounded. You tried to hide the disappointed look on your face when you gave him a little wave, then turned back to the bench to collect your bag and hot chocolate.

Idiot. Idiot. Idiot.

He shook his head at himself as he began to slowly walk in the direction of the parking lot. His hands balled up into fists at his sides, his anger and disgust with himself growing with each heavy step. He thought he knew everyone in town, thought everyone knew him. Or, at least, of him and his reputation. If it wasn't his work in Colombia, then the rest of the town would have remembered how he left Lorraine. He thought he had to hide away on the ranch to avoid the attention and scrutiny, and he was content enough to do that. But now? The thought of going back home to his quiet little life, knowing he would spend countless days wondering about you made him suddenly stop dead in his tracks and spin around.

He spotted you walking in the opposite direction, your off-white tote back draped over your shoulder, about to disappear into the crowd. Panic clawed at his throat and he broke out into a jog, calling your name as he made his way closer and ignoring the looks he got from strangers as he went.

When you heard him, you immediately swiveled around and broke out into a smile, looking just as relieved as he felt.

"Hey," he said, slightly short of breath when he slowed his pace to a stop in front of you.

"Hi," you replied, gazing up at him with those beautiful eyes he would dream about later instead of the nightmares that usually plagued him.

"I meant to - can I get your number? I'd like to take you out sometime, if you-"

"Yes!" you cried out excitedly, making both of you laugh. He handed you his phone, then wiped his sweaty palms over the backs of his jeans and watched while you entered your number. You handed the device back to him with a dazzling smile and he felt his nerves start to settle.

"I'll call you," he promised, tucking his phone back into his pocket.

"You better, Javier," you teased with a poke to his shoulder.

It might have been the way your eyes sparkled when you looked at him or the sweet way you said his name, but before he had a chance to overthink it, he leaned down and pressed his lips lightly against yours. He felt you melt into him once the shock wore off, and his lips curved into a smile before pulling away.

"You taste like chocolate," he said softly, mouth still hovering over yours, and you giggled when you swiped the pad of your thumb over his lower lip.

"So do you."

He grinned and forced his feet to move, walking backwards a few steps so he could continue to smile at you like a fool until he finally had to turn around before he ran into someone, but not before shooting you a quick wink just to hear you laugh one more time.

As he walked through the farmers' market, already dreading all the questions Chucho would be firing his way the entire ride home, he looked around at the happy couples in a completely different light. His stomach no longer churned and his chest no longer ached when he saw them kiss or laugh, because with any luck, he might just find himself in their shoes soon enough.

Words Unspoken

Mando x reader

Summary: y/n and mando has been friends for two years, a bond between them Unspoken...until the mandalorian sees the way y/n's childhood friend flirts with her. (Sum mando jealousy here hehehehe)

Warnings: jealous mando, language. Maybe violence and fluff.

Also happy late birthday pedro BABY!!!!!

Also this is trash (;

Words Unspoken

------------------------------------------------------

The mandalorian watches with crossed arms as y/n worked on the rezar crest, trying to repair some internal wiring that was shot earlier that day....by said mandalorian. Y/n had a amused smile on her face along with sweat and oil, the reason as to why she was fixing this nearly making her laugh.

It all started when mando was cleaning his beloved blaster, just mindlessly wiping down every crevice of the thing. But he heard her enter the room, her boots echoing throughout the near silent ship. That of course grabbed the intention of the mandalorian causing him to look up from his blaster and spotting the woman.

And she was absolutely stunning, her beautiful y/e/c eyes harvesting that beautiful sparkle no one else could ever have. her light brown button up shirt stained with oil along with her tight long dark brown pants, the first few buttons on her shirt missing showing off her soft skin there. Her hair was down and natural just the way he always thought was beautiful, it made her look purely angelic. He didn't even know what happened as his mind was in a trance over her beauty, but he accidentally pulled the trigger of his blaster he was cleaning and shot straight through the wall of his beloved ship....messing up the lighting in that particular area. But luckily his companion was a mechanic.

Leading them to this moment, she removed the penal he shot through and was rewiring what he destroyed. Her amusement at the situation making his cheeks burn red beneath his helmet.

" I almost have it...just a few more and-"

She shrieked as sparks flies out causing her to jump back and cradle her hand to her chest. The mandalorian jumped to her side in a flash, holding her as he quickly looked her over to see if she had any injuries. But she was okay other then a small little burn on her hand.

" are you okay? Are you hurt? " he asks, his voice modulator slightly masking his concern, but she heard and smiles up at him reassuringly.

" I'm fine...but I can't say the same for the rezar crest's wiring. It's gonna have to be replaced." She tells mando, who sighs and looks away from the woman and back to the wiring that sparks every few seconds.

" what do we need to replace? " he asks, his eyes looking back down at her. Her gaze was fully focused on the damage.

" you'll need more wiring, and probably a new penal considering that one has a hole in it. That's about it " she explained as she looks up at mando, who was still holding her. Realizing this he let's her go with pink cheeks. Although he wished more then anything to hold her for eternity.

" where can we find that? " his modulated voice asks, walking over and inspecting the damaged he had done. She watches as he stares on at the damage, the feeling of where his arms was once around her feeling cold at the loss of contact. She walks over and leans her forearm against the ship's wall, looking up at the beskar clad man.

" I know of a place we can get all the stuff we need for free...but it's a rough place, especially with the child with us. " she tells mando. He looks at her then turns around looking at the child who sat down in his bobble like carrier, watching the two with a small smile.

" we could go and you could always stay here and watch him while I retrieve the stuff. " He said, but y/n shook her head and fixed her gaze on the shining helmet, looking at where she believed his eyes would be.

" if you went alone then you wouldn't be getting the wires and panel free, you should stay and watch the child while I get it....I can handle myself y'know. " she explained as she crosses her arms. He looks at her questioningly. Although his face was hidden under the helmet she could read his body language like a book.

And she was right, he knew damn well she could handle herself. The first time they met was when he strolled into a cantina, he was just stealthy looking for his latest bounty at the time but the sight of her caught his gaze. She was arm wrestling a rather large and muscular man, someone even he would have a time fighting against. But she somehow won the wrestling match and the man was not pleased, that's when said large man decided to start a fight with the small and delicate looking woman. But she managed to kick the man's ass and that's when the mandalorian just knew he had to get to know her, and so he did. She helped him repair his ship that was heavily damaged at the time. But she made it look good as new, and the payment was that she stayed with him, that way she actually had a bed to sleep in and a roof over her head. The only thing she needed to do was sometimes watch the child and repair any damage.

" trust me I know you can...but why would you be able to get the parts free and I wouldn't? " he asks, she smiles a small smile and looks away from him.

" because the person we would be getting these parts from would be an old friend of mine, he is a little hostile towards strangers but a decent person with friends " she says, her voice soft and making his heart flutter at the sound. But the fluttering stops as his mind registers the fact she said he and old friend.

The mandalorian looks at her and nods, they need the parts, " okay...wheres this friend of yours at? " he speaks, voice coming out void of emotion as always as he begins walking towards the cockpit. Y/n scoops the child up into her arms as she settles into the co-pilot seat strapping herself in as the mandalorian does so himself. The woman explains the destination coordinates as starts up the rezar crest. And off they go in search of the parts to fix what mando destroyed.

___________________________________________

" This place is a dump..." the mandalorian spoke as he held the child closely to him, watching as different species of all kinds walked by, some thieving off others, and others beating the shit out of some. It was a rough place....but then again most wastelands was.

" hey pal this dump so happened to be home! " y/n said, her voice low as her eyes bounced around the sandy desert full of thugs, outlaws and murderers.

Mando looks at her the around the place, " that explains why you're so tough " he muttered. She chuckles and leads the way towards the dark cave looking building. The child whines at the sight of the aliens and people in this wasteland, snuggling up into the mandalorian for safety.

He smiles under the helmet as reassuringly rubs the childs back.

The woman comes to a stop at the cave like building, hand resting on her concealed blaster as she smiles up at two guards.

" is gunner still around or did he finally get himself killed? " she asks with a little smirk. The guards look to each other and back down at the woman.

" whose asking? " one asks, his voice gruff and low. The mandalorian stood more close behind her as his protectiveness kicked in.

" y/n...an old friend who he owes. " she spoke up, smirk still playing at her lips. The guards step aside and allow her entry without anymore question. She gives them a little nod in gratitude and steps through, glad to be out of the burning sun. But she stops dead in her tracks when the guards block mando off.

" their with me " she says, looking at them with a serious face, they sigh and let him in as he nods at them. He walks closer to y/n as she leads them through the dimly lit building.

After a few minutes of silence they come to a room with a round table in the middle, four men sitting at it while two women hang of two of the men's shoulders, they was gambling. And it didn't take long for the man the woman was looking for spotted her, he stood up from his chair and smiles.

" well if it isn't y/n! " gunner spoke with a joyous tune, causing y/n to smile widely. The men at the table stop their gambling as the hostess attention was purely on her. " it's been a long time since I've last saw you, yet your still the beauty I grew up with! " he exclaimed as he looked her up and down. She giggles and shakes her head, her cheeks slightly pink at the man's words.

The mandalorian stood there with the child watching everything go down, a feeling of pure anger washing over him as he shifted on his feet...who the hell did this man thank he was speaking to her like that?....those words was running through his head repeatedly.

" oh shut up gunner, I didn't come her for you're compliments, but rather some parts for a ship " she tells the man who nods with a grin. He turns back to the other men in the room.

" continue the game while I excuse myself for a moment..." gunner said, motioning y/n and mando to follow him. They both do so as he leads them through a dark hallway and into a grey more brightly lit room full of metal and ship parts. " what is it your looking for? " he asks.

" wiring and a panel " the mandalorian spoke before y/n could, his modulated voice feeling the room. The woman looks at him with a slight lifted brow, she could hear the anger seeping through his voice.

" well...y/n you know where to find it. " gunner said, side eyeing the mandalorian, He picked up on the anger rolling off him.

" of course! " she said, walking towards gunner and searching through the wall of multiple wires behind him.

She was confused as to why mando was angry, but shrugged it off. He was probably irritated by the heat from this wasteland and hostile territory, especially when the child was being held in such a place.

As she searched she found it, the wires she needed and smiles victoriously. " okay I got the wires but now I need the panel..." her voice trailed off as she turned around and looked around the room seeing if she could see it.

" follow me, I'll take ya to the panel's Darling " gunner chuckles as he rests a hand on her lower back.

That made the mandalorian's blood boil, his eyes shooting daggers through the man's head as he clinched his jaw. How dare he put his filthy hands on her....

Y/n nods in appreciation at gunner and his kindness as he leads her towards the panel section of his ship parts collection.

" here they are..." he said with a little smile and he kept his hand on her...mando appearing beside the two as the woman walked off to search for the right panel.

" so....gunner. how did you and y/n meet? " venom dripping from his words, gunner looks at him with a little grin.

" we grew up together, she had an abandoned ship we would both play in when we we're children " gunner tells the man. He nods and looks back to y/n. Gunner smiles at the mandalorian and chuckles quietly.

" you like her? " he asks, causing the mandalorian's head to snap in his direction. His cheeks going red under the helmet.

" wh-i...yes...you could say that " he stuttered as his heart started pounding. He felt...afraid to think of his feelings for y/n. The fact that he loved her making him scared, he wanted to tell her...but was afraid of ruining everything they had together. He couldn't stand the thought of losing her...she was everything to him.

Gunner nods, the grin still plastered on his face as he watches y/n while she finally finds the right panel and make her way back to the two men and child.

" okay! I have everything we need " y/n announced as she holds the wires and panel up with a smile. Mando nods with a sigh of relief, now maybe they can leave this place. But of course luck wasn't on his side and the woman who captured the mandalorian's heart directs her attention on the man beside him.

" thanks gunner, I knew you'd have everything we need " she smiles gratefully at her old friend, who gives her a tight hug.

The mandalorian can't help but tense up, he hates seeing the way y/n smiles at the man, her eyes practically glued to the suave man who kept throwing compliments at her....although he hated to admit it...he was jealous.

" great now we can go " mando spoke, holding the child closer as he watches the way gunners arm was still wrapped around y/n even though the hug was broke.

Y/n looks at the mandalorian confused, he wasn't even trying to hide the anger now...did she do something to anger him?

" oh come on, no need to be I'm such a rush. Why don't you both stay for dinner? " Gunner suggests with a kind smile. Y/n's eyes light up with excitement as she smiles at the suggestion, looking to mando for permission. That's something she always does, that's one of many reasons he likes her. She always makes sure he is comfortable with something before she agrees or does something.

The mandalorian looks at her and knows she really wants to stay...her excitement making his heart skip a beat, she was so adorable. And he sometimes hated how her beauty and adorableness had such a grip on him.

With a sigh he nods, " sure, why not..." he muttered with attitude. Y/n's smile widens as she thanks the mandalorian for agreeing and they all start walking to the dining hall in gunners building. Even though he wished to just sit in his ship and enjoy listening to y/n talk about random things while playing with the child....like always.

-------------------------------------------------------

Y/N's laugh rang throughout the building as the mandalorian sat at the table with crossed arms, he couldn't eat considering he couldn't take his helmet off. And he didn't want to leave the two alone together because he was afraid of that thought.

The child sat beside the mandalorian as it eats the soup, its wide eyes looking up at mando with curiosity.

" do you remember that time you pissed off those Jawa's and I had to talk them out of stealing you're whole ship? " y/n laughed, tears threatening to spill because of how hard she laughed. Gunner laughs with her as he nods.

" how couldn't I? It was the most terrifying moment of my life! " he said through laughter, his hand landing on hers, they both sat beside each other while the mandalorian and child sat in front of them. Mando watched as gunner squeezes her hand as their laughter continues, never has he seen y/n so happy before....it left him feeling angry yet sad the same time.

" I'm heading out, watch the child. " he growls as he stood up, chair scratching against the floor making the laughter die down some. Without another word he leaves.

Y/n watches as her smile filters, worry settling into the pit of her stomach. Her mind wondering what has made him so angry. She looks to gunner and gives him a apologetic smile.

" please excuse me while I see what's bothering him " she says, standing up and dusting her pants. She looks to the child, " stay here and be safe " she tells the green little creature, who nods and smiles. She then walks out of the dining hall in search of her mando...

Although she would never admit it, she harvested very strong feelings for the mandalorian. And she thought that in her actions and words towards him showed him just how much she cared about him. She didn't say out loud that she loved him because she knew he would most likely reject her, say that she was only a friend and mechanic for him, and she couldn't take the rejection so she showed him her love for him in the way she took care of him, hoping one day he would see it. But obviously he hasn't.

She sighs in relief upon seeing him stood by a open window in the building, the sun had set long ago the moon taking its place. The light of the moon shining on his beskar making him look absolutely stunning in her eyes. She walks towards him slowly, her boots hitting the hard metal floors echoing, breaking the silence.

" what are you doing in here? I thought I told you to watch the child?! " he barks at her harshly. He keeps his gaze out the window as he watches the people outside.

" the child is in good hands with gunner " she reassures the mandalorian as she stood in front of him, leaning on the window seal.

" oh so now we're trusting him with the childs well being? " he scoffs, causing her to stare at him with shock. His harshness hurting her in a way he would never intend.

" I'd trust him with my life din, he isn't like any other person in this wasteland! He's nice, caring and wanted nothing more then to leave this place when we was younger. But he couldn't because he was a slave! " she angrily tells him, her cheeks red from said anger.

He finally turns his gaze on her, eyes soften slightly at the mention of his name, something he told her one night as they both couldn't find sleep. She only ever used his name when she was troubled or very very angry at him....

" then why are you here with me and not him? " he asks with a low tone, voice holding that of sadness. She looks at him as her anger slowly decapitated.

" because something is bothering you and I wanna know what it is din...you're never this distant with me? " she tells him, voice calmer as she laid a gentle hand on his shoulder making him sigh and relax.

" i-i just don't like seeing the way he makes you feel...." he muttered, his voice modulator not masking the hurt in his voice. It made her heart clinch.

" din, I have no idea what you're talking about? " she said softly, clearly confused.

" I'm talking about all the-the complaints, and blushing and the way he touches you...I don't like how it makes me feel! " he exclaimed as his anger was building back up.

Y/n stood there shocked, her brain trying to wrap around what he just said...so he was jealous? She thought as a small smile tugs at her lips.

" so, what you're trying to tell me is that you're jealous? " she says while trying to fight off her smile. He shrugs her hand off his shoulder and crosses his arms, a frown on his face hidden by his helmet.

" I. Am. Not. jealous." He spat out, but now it was all clear to the woman that he was.

It made her feel over the moon knowing that he felt the same about her, otherwise why would he be jealous?

" then why do you hate when gunner compliments me? " she asks, the smile winning the battle as she smiles at him.

" because...i-i just don't! " he argues as he looks away from her. She giggles and walks closer to him, her chest nearly touching his making his breath hitch and heart pound.

" that's exactly what someone who is jealous would say " she tells him with a grin. He scoffs but doesn't look away from her. " you have nothing to be jealous over din, my eyes are set on only one man in this galaxy and if he wasn't so hard headed and stubborn he'd see that " she admits, her eyes looking up at him with such love and adoration that his heart swells.

It was that moment he knew she was talking about him, the smile on his face wide.

She leans her forehead against his helmet, wishing more then anything to be able to kiss the mandalorian.

" I love you din, nothing will ever change that and I hope you can see that " she says softly, the love dripping from her words making him sigh dreamily.

" I love you too. Ever since the moment I saw you " he tells her, causing a giggle to escape her lips, she pulls her head back and rests her hands on his armored chest. His hands falling to her waist.

They both stood there in a comfortable silence until they heard the child walk inside the room, it's big eyes droopy and a yawn escaped from the little creature. Y/n smiles and looks up at mando who hesitates to pull away from the comfort of the womans touch. He walks over and scoops the child up and turns around to look at y/n.

" ready to go now? " he asks, she nods and walks towards him, both of them walking down the hallway.

" yeah, I suppose I should fix what you broke the other day, y'know checking me out and all " she jokes. His cheeks turn red and he chuckles.

" well maybe you shouldn't be strolling by when you look like you did that day." He says, a little smirk on his face beneath his helmet.

" looking like what? " She questions, he stops walking and looks down on her short self.

" stunningly beautiful " was all he said as he walks ahead of her. She blushes with a wide smile as she finally starts walking again.

She was absolutely happy, her heart felt like it was about to explode with happiness knowing that the mandalorian felt the same.

But the mandalorian was beyond happy, the smile would probably never leave his face as he thought about how she said she loved him, those three simple little words meant the whole universe to him. and now that he knew he had her...he felt like he had the whole universe.

Because know that he had her, he did.
