The thing is, until you get past the mindset of "justice=punishment" you will never be able to create lasting change. We have actual proof that punitive justice creates more crime and makes criminals more violent. We have actual proof that rehabilitation reduces crime and recidivism. But some of y'all are so stuck on this idea that the wrongdoer must be punished for justice to be done that you will choose sating your need for revenge over actually moving toward a better world every time. And that's sad!

it was never about hamas. not for a single second was any bit of this latest chapter of israels genocide over palestinians about hamas. never let anyone convince you of that. it was about killing people. israel from day one set out to kill palestinian people, as many as possible, and the us happily helped out, approved by media and celebrities and everyone that looked away. internet was cut off for everyone in gaza. we might only find out the horror of whats happening there right now once its way too late to prevent this already incomprehensible terror from growing into something none of us will ever get to walk away from while we're alive.

Guys I have some unfortunate news. I’m rly blown away by how fast we reached the 80k goal for Mohammad’s and Shaima’s fundraiser, but unfortunately Wafaa was told by the fundraising organizer that not only does gfm charge a 3.5k platform fee, but it also deducts 2k for international transfer. Please please donate to the fundraiser and help Wafaa’s family reach their new goal of 85.5k. They would not be asking for it if they didn’t truly need every last cent to evacuate to safety.

It has been hard for me to talk about how what is going on with Israel and Palestine is affecting me personally, but I grew up in Gaza and most of my family still lives there. My father did not survive the bombings last week and I have not been able to contact my younger sister in days. I am try to being understanding that most people do not have personal connections to what is happening and therefore are justifying their silence, but is heartbreaking to see this misinformation being spread. What’s happening there is a genocide, not a war. It is not antisemitic to support Palestine, it’s not even antiemetic to criticise Israel. There is no grey area or neutrality regarding this, and it is so easy to find resources that will educate you on the subject. It is my people and my home being destroyed so I will never be silent about this, but I please urge everyone to get informed and start speaking up and finding ways they can help.

You should be outraged. You should be enraged and if you are not, if the senseless killing of the black community at the hands of our police force does not anger you please reevaluate your humanity.

To be unmoved by the current issues of our society is a privilege. To prioritize looting and damage to property over lost black lives and police brutality is to lack humanity.

Please evaluate and educate yourself, this is a major issue and we need serious reform and revolution in this country.

You can’t love the Romantics and academia and remain ignorant and complacent.
