Update: I've done it. It's almost 3:00 AM on Christmas morning, but I've done it. They told me writing fanfiction would do this to me, but I didn't listen, and here we are. Chapters 1-12 are officially up!

I just uploaded the first two chapters of my latest GI Joe: Renegades fanfiction. My ultimate goal is to write a fanfiction for every episode of the show. But the current goal is to get the fics for episodes 1-12 uploaded before Christmas 2024.

I know debbie and cecil are a doomed romance and I love me some angst, but I need some cute fluff. Any head cannons on flustered Cecil or just things Debbie does that makes Cecil (secretly) flustered?

cecil is a difficult man to fluster but when it does happen he's pretty good at hiding it. his artifical skin doesn't show color underneath the way normal skin does, so blushing is not really an issue for him. there are other tells though (especially if you can read him as well as debbie grayson does)

he can't handle eye contact when he's flustered, despite the intense staredowns he frequently gets into. he's got to focus on something else or just stare at the wall. his posture gets stiffer. he talks faster, less time between thoughts and words, and misspeaks more often (we see some of this when he's talking to debbie in the show).

his hands shake - he hates this especially. maybe he'll put them in his pockets. maybe he'll adjust his tie or fidget with his lapel pin or cufflinks or... something. maybe he'll fake getting a call in his earpiece. anything to distract from the feeling. he's GOT to be professional, damn it

i'm having trouble thinking of specifics for debbie right now, but i think it's just a lot of little things. i think the realization that he's paying such close attention to her and her mannerisms is what flusters him... the fact that he has these feelings he really shouldn't have, and the fact that he actually wants her to like him, as juvenile as that sounds

they seem physically comfortable enough for him to know when to reach out and hold her steady or put a hand on her shoulder, but he's cautious with it. debbie is more impulsive and when she reaches for him, it does catch him off guard. he's not used to being held

other things i like to think about:

debbie tying his tie and cecil returning the favor by fastening her necklace. the way she tilts her head and sweeps her hair away from her neck is... something

awaiting updates on world-shattering events and debbie takes his hand in hers to stop them both from shaking. no words, they don't even have to look at each other

debbie gently touching the side of his face where his scar is, moving her thumb over it

cecil putting his jacket over debbie's shoulders and her pulling it close

i just woke up.

The children yearn for the canyons. And honestly? Same.

Would die for some clouds right now. This October has reminded me so much of the drought years where everything felt hard and bright and dead for ages, the great empty vault of the sky oppressing all.

We’re lucky if we get a little fog in the morning, but it burns off so quickly and then it’s back to that brittle, looming blue. I don’t even want to leave the house. Maybe it’s better, cooler, darker in the canyons? Encourage me to go into the canyons.

I still mourn for the season two character arcs we never got. Especially for Storm Shadow and Jinx.

let’s talk about Storm Shadow in gi joe renegades. does he feel like he’s needed? no. does he want to feel like he’s needed? yes. is he succeeding? no.

unfortunately, he doesn’t know the damage he’s done until it’s too late.
