hi, sorry this isn’t a regular post, i know i’ve been inactive for a while but i needed to get this off my chest.

in June, I took a break from writing because I lost two close relatives who are very near and dear to my heart, in the same week. One of whom passed away due to covid-19. And you know what the worst part is? We can’t even definitively prove that it was corona because he never got diagnosed in the first fucking place. We only know that he had trouble breathing, severe coughing and had a high fever running for 10 days before he passed away, which means if it really was corona (it most definitely was) he had it long enough to show the damn symptoms for it, i can’t even bring myself to accept what the implications of that means. Regardless, my entire extended family and my brother who lives there are at risk. See, in my homeland, Egypt, there is literally, and I mean literally no healthcare. the hospitals aren’t even open, they don’t accept any patients, medical workers are dying. If you get corona there, you have to wait it out, test your luck, see if you’ll survive. there are no beds available. at the height of it all, people were begging on social media for relief, a hospital bed, something, anything. outspoken doctors were being silenced, if you didn’t already know, there is a huge censorship problem in Egypt (and the wider Arab world, but its especially overbearing in Egypt). Journalists were being jailed, accused of spreading “false information” and being part of the “Islamic Brotherhood” (a group of radicalists who were deemed a terrorist group by the gov) just for trying to report on this fucking havoc. I literally feel scared just writing this, and i dont even live there, but for those ignorant to the political climate there: it’s military dictatorship disguised as democracy. you can read more about this here.

as of writing this, there are 92,482 confirmed cases, 4,652  deaths in Egypt. These are the ones that were recorded. there are most definitely more cases out there, more deaths that never even got the chance to be diagnosed. Like what happened to my relative, may his soul rest in peace.

i wasn’t planning on speaking about this, but the more i read about employees and doctors getting harassed, about all these people having fun, roaming about and putting everyone around them at risk, the more i just cant take it anymore. Granted most of these cases that i’ve read about (if not, all) are in the US, but it still pisses me off all the same. As someone who has been directly affected by covid, and lives in constant fear of losing a loved one by its hands, everyone who’s out clubbing, out traveling and not quarantining, out without a mask, or just straight up protesting against wearing masks just get under every nerve in my being. They don’t understand the severity of the situation, don’t get how they’re literally putting everyone around them in danger, and maybe it’s because they don’t realize how fucking privileged they are, to have medical assistance at their beck and call. and even then, medical assistance doesn’t mean jack shit if you’re hanging around people who are susceptible/weak against this virus. 

my other brother just graduated high school, he’s going to Egypt for college. And my dad is going with him to sort out a bunch of stuff there too, I cant begin to describe how fucking terrified i am for them, especially my dad. i’ve gone through three losses the first half of this year, every time i think things are finally looking up, somebody I love is just gone. I’m afraid to think optimistically at this point, and to see all these people completely disregard the pandemic going on right now fills me with rage. I sure as hell don’t want to be stuck at home, sure as shit didn’t want to cancel the trip back to my homeland, my family, my relatives that I haven’t seen in 3 fucking years, that I wont see for 4 years or more. But its for my and their safety.

to anyone following me who’s not following safety procedures, who is intentionally putting everyone around them at risk because “yOu liVe iN a fReE cOunTrY” and i mean this with the utmost respect: Fuck you, unfollow me right now, please. 

to anyone who knows people like this please take the time to properly educate them, even if you know its fruitless, just try, you could be saving lives by doing that.

Okay I've been meaning to make a post about this for a while but after all the shit that happened yesterday I decided to just write this down.

This is directed at some minors (namely the 13-14 y/os new on here) because it seems like they don't understand the severity of their own actions.

18+ blogs are mdni for a reason

It's normal for teens to be curious about nsfw stuff obviously, we're not tone deaf, everyone knows that teens watch porn and other stuff like that. HOWEVER, there is a difference between just a watching something (which is a one sided relationship between the viewer and the content) and actively interacting with someone explicitly.

I've been in fandoms since I was very young (11 years old) and I've read things I definitely shouldn't have. There's a culture on wattpad that encourages minors to read and write smut, and even worse, dc, I am very aware of that because I was there at one point in time.

And then minors who grew up in that shitty environment shift from wattpad to tumblr, which is much more interactive, don't know any better interact with and sometimes run 18+ blogs (??)

When I tell you stop being sexually explicit online when you're still a minor, it's not because I'm shaming you, it's not because I'm a prude thinking minors are little angels that never have lustful thoughts, it's because I want to protect you. Trust me, you're 100% going to regret your behavior in the near future (not even a few months).

For any minors running/interacting with 18+ character anon accounts. Please, start over from scratch, no more 18+ stuff for the love of God. The shit I saw yesterday was unbelievably disturbing, don't even put yourself in a position where that could happen to you.

Understand that no, you're not fully grown yet, and no, you're not capable of making good decisions right now. Because believe it or not, you're still a kid, a child. Anyone can easily take advantage of that (and unfortunately we've seen this happen already so don't even try to deny it), please just don't interact with or post 18+ content.

AND TO BE PERFECTLY CLEAR, I'm not blaming any minors for the stuff that has gone down. We're kids, we're impressionable. This is more like me giving advice based on my own experience and what I've seen countless times.
