Work on a discord server for The Hives fan community is underway. Stay tuned!
Hi! Since I saw your post about Pelle here, I have a question for you: do you know if there is a safe place to talk about The Hives, like a dedicated discord server or something like that? I'm afraid I've developed severe brain rot since their last show.
aaaaaah have you been to the Zurich show too??? and yep, I can relate to your last sentence too...
they were one of the very first bands I've been obsessed with when I created this blog, and I can say that in 2014-2015, the fandom - although small - was actually pretty active here. Now though, it seems that the blogs I used to follow have either changed fandoms or deactivated entirely, and new content in the tags has grown scarce 🥲
so nope, unfortunately I'm not aware of any safe place to talk about them... but I would be super interested too. We could open a discord server? I'm bad with discord but I'm motivated haha
also, I'll probably be posting new The Hives content on my blog again <3

Hello everyone! This week's recommendation is Fool Night.
I wanna start by giving a shout out to tigdogboy on TikTok for making a video about this series and helping me discover it. He has some really great horror manga videos so consider checking them out.
"The earth of the distant future is covered in thick clouds, and the sun no longer shines. Plants wither, and oxygen is thin. To fight extinction, humankind has developed a technology that turns humans into plants, providing a small amount of oxygen. Is this process sustainable? Is it ethical?
Toshiro Kamiya must consider these questions as he’s faced with a difficult choice—save his family or save himself. Kamiya is at the end of his rope. His mother is ill, and his job barely pays for her medication, much less food. With few options left, he considers the life-changing process of floromorphosis. Ready to give his body up for a payday, Kamiya is about to explore the limits of society’s waning humanity."
Honestly I haven't read much of this series because print copies in English are going to be released next June and I'd rather read a physical copy, but having read the first chapter, I can tell that this will be a really unique series with it's art style and progressive body horror. Also, I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but the cover is super cool and well designed imo.
I also really like how the characters are being presented as well. Kamiya is a really interesting main character who's been failed by society and is just trying to get by, which I'm sure a lot of people can sympathize with. I'm not sure how his story will end, but I'm rooting (y'know, like a plant :D ) for him so far!
Horror stories that revolve around plants seem to be a lot less common than stories about animals, monsters, etc. so I'm glad to find a story like this. I recommend it if you like movies like Invasion of the Body Snatchers from 1978.
Volume 1 in English is available for pre-order!

No one does social media like Daniel Armbruster. Dude just talks to himself on different accounts.
