there are many great incidents of Andrew being a straight up menace in the trilogy but one of my favorite scenes is actually one where Andrew does nothing particularly violent but just shows up at Neil/Matt’s room for literally NO reason other than to bother Neil

this boy just shows up and interrupts Neil’s much needed homework time JUST so he could personally let Neil know that Kevin wouldn’t be having their regular night practice, then after checking to see if there was anyone else home (there wasn’t), proceeds to invite himself inside their apartment and into the kitchen, muses aloud about how he was undecided on his opinion of Neil and whether or not he thought Neil was just really stupid (but lucky) or really clever (but untruthful) - spoiler alert: it’s all of the above - while Neil was literally standing RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM, and then checked out the contents of Neil/Matt’s fridge, helped himself to a beer, threw the beer can tab at Neil when he realized Neil wasn’t paying attention to him ( “I come over to bother you and you have the audacity to IGNORE me?? Who do you think you are??” ), then Andrew decides that Making Out >>>>>> Beer, went over and proceeded to make out with Neil and get him off, kicked Neil out of his own kitchen to finish himself up, went back to the fridge and calmly finished his stolen beer, and then was like like aight I’m out and just upped and LEFT–

leaving a poor confused asf Neil staring into space at his desk unable to get any more homework done that night

rereading tkm and I sorely misjudged Kevin before tsc omg the line when Neil says you can’t be afraid of him anymore (Riko) and Kevin says

“It is not a switch you can turn on and off. You of all people know this. You did not grow up with him. You do not get to judge me.”

You’re so right Kevin. Like that line really hit me that most of the foxes and other people (including me initially) saw Kevin’s reluctance to fight back as cowardice rather than the instinctual self-preservation and trauma response that it acc is.

Trying to write Andrew Minyard dialogue/voice is single-handedly the hardest literary exercise I’ve ever had to do.

Seeing as it is the season, (it’s really not I just love the Raven boys) I thought I would share my Gansey cosplay for a year or so ago! I do have more photos and I am planning on cosplaying him again this year!

“Here’s a real question: how have you survived this long when you’re so violently self-destructive?”

Andrew cocked his head to one side in a question. Neil didn’t know if Andrew was playing stupid to rile him or if Andrew really was oblivious. Either way it was frustrating. He wondered why no one else had caught on, or if people noticed and just didn’t care enough to say it. Now that Neil saw it, though, he couldn’t look past it. Anytime the Foxes mentioned Andrew’s upcoming sobriety or Andrew’s name popped up in write-ups on the team’s performance at games, the focus was on what a danger he was. People talked about his trial and how it saved them from Andrew. No one said what they were doing to save Andrew from himself.
