Please Invite Your Disabled Friends To Things.

please invite your disabled friends to things.

"we didn't invite you because we didn't think you'd want to/be able to come" is not a kind statement.

just ask us. if we say no, then we say no. but what if we say yes?

parties, social events, theatre, cinema, theme parks, museums, whatever. if you're inviting the rest of the friendship group, invite your disabled friends too.

the feeling when everyone has made every accommodation they can for me but i'm still making no progress is the worst because i can't blame the world anymore, the problem is just me

it really pisses me off and actually really hurts that i haven't seen a single kind or wholesome post towards trans men. it's always either people posting that they want to sleep with us or that we need to stay strong and whatever because of the hate targeted at us which is appreciated but like.. i already know that i and other trans men are valid and that we are hot but some of us really just need a hug and told that we are loved and cared about. i am tired and i know the rest of us are too

I hate when people that aren't failing or losers call themselves that. so you're in uni, have a perfect body, a bf, you're studying, you have hobbies and you're a loser? ok. you can feel like one, can't control feelings right, but calling yourself one? please.

You know, not to be an asshole, but I hate that all the stories about eating disorders are about bulimia or anorexia. I have binge-eating disorder and there is not a one story about that. No manga, no webcomics, no films, no nothing. Not a fucking one. It's like bulimia and anorexia are the only eating disorders that exist in the mass consciousness. And it seems to always be contextualized in dysmorphia. Like... maybe I'm just fucked up?? I have BED that resulted from PTSD. (There was a period of fatphobia, though this is distinct).

to the next person that says adhd isn't disabling i wish you a very week of isolation, binge eating, and getting kicked out of your job because executive dysfunction wouldn't let you do your work

“kids spend too much time on their devices” well what else are they supposed to do? there’s no corner shops with pinball machines in them on every corner anymore. there’s no malls or stores in small towns for teens to hang out in without being suspected of shoplifting or kicked out for loitering. sidewalks are too broken for them to ride their bikes and there’s no bike lane in the street to make it safe for them. i just don’t understand where they expect these kids to go when they keep taking places away from them. and yes having no safe public places for them is what leads a lot of teens into addiction if they end up at a place where people aren’t truly looking out for them.

the moment an eating disorder isn't restrictive or doesn't "compensate" for behaviours that could lead to weight gain, nobody gives a shit. and it's exhausting.

as someone with binge eating disorder, i'm tired of being dismissed, humiliated, and ridiculed by everyone.

i've had psychiatrists tell me that my eating disorder isn't real and that i just 'have no self control'.

i've had anorexics call me a disgusting pig and use my mental illness as something to laugh at.

i've had bulimics say similarly horrible things, which is hypocritical given their disorder involves binging as well, but when i pointed that out they told me that 'at least they do something about it.'

binge eating disorder is horrible to live with. at the very least we could be given some respect.

tw: eating disorder mention (not abt me)

i feel like we dont talk about binge eating disorder enough. a lot of people talk about anorexia, a decent amount of people talk about bulimia, but ive barely heard people talk about bunge eating disorder. it's a very serious disorder, just as serious as anorexia and bulimia, yet it doesn't get as much recognition as it should. i find that odd.

the thing that pisses me off the most about this whole "haha trans men in womens bathrooms will make them reconsider" spin going around is that it basically pretends trans men and mascs of color dont exist and arent in very real danger

like, think about for even one second how, historically, white women have weaponized the perception of moc as inherently masculinely savage to get them killed for being threats to fragile helpless white girls

do you think the lady who calls 911 on black men birdwatching in the park is going to see a trans man of color in the womens bathroom and go "gosh! i never thought about it that way. you've really exposed the flaw in my arguement"? no. shes going to call security and that man will be brutalized or killed

(and dont even for a second think that woc will be safe either. i was getting side eyes and pointed questions long before i ever came out because my skin was brown and i had short hair. tmoc and our sisters arent fucking safe and we deserve better than being used as some white posters pithy "gotchya")

if you think that it's ok to police whether or not someone can identify with a queer label then you have missed the point of being queer to begin with.

being queer is about not conforming to the rigid boxes and expectations a cisheteronormative society wants to put us in. it is about self expression, inclusivity, and freedom to be ourselves.

it is not about making more rules and exclusion about how people can exist.

labels and identity are fluid and mean different things to different people. at the end of the day it doesn't affect you one jot if a trans man identifies as a lesbian or a bisexual person only dates girls. labels are a personal experience.

just let people be themselves. it won't hurt you.
