ADHD moodboard
I found this table describing two different ways bipolar disorder can present, classic and atypical. Itโs interesting because while we talk more about the classic presentation, the atypical presentation is actually more common (it was discovered second, hence the name)ย
The most interesting thing to me personally is while many with bipolar disorder will fully recover between episodes, many wonโtโthey will experience subsyndromal symptoms. which is why i, and possibly many of you too, find myself in a sort of depression liteโข๏ธ even when im not in a full-on episode.ย
Hereโs a video that goes over the chart and explains the difference between the two and a little bit of the history behind their discovery.ย
I havenโt seen anyone talk about this on tumblr, so I thought Iโd bring it up. Itโs not diagnostic material, but psychologists do use these terms when deciding what medication will (probably) best treat your specific case, with the classic presentation responding better to lithium and atypical responding better to anticonvulsants and atypical antipsychoticsย
isnโt that neat?ย

Itโs the masterpost that no one actually asked for, but I really wanted to make. Iโve found a lot of resources, but they were never in one place. So instead of searching all over the place all the time, I decided to make this.
This also includes resources for schizoaffective disorder, which Iโve never seen a masterpost for! I didnโt include things like โDealing with a bipolar loved oneโ, but I might make a separate post for friends/family.

I literally cannot overstate how important creative hobbies are when dealing with mental illness. If you canโt draw, there are coloring books. If you canโt write a novel, you can write in short journaling bursts. If you canโt sing in the shower, you can listen to music. Sometimes with mental illness it feels like we have this dark presence inside of us that is bumping around in our brain and organs, causing problems. It helps immensely to let it out.
ive been wanting to take a swing at making this kind of thing for ages, and since im manic I figured iโd do it!

Not to sound like a 90s shallow prep, but how you dress can affect your self esteem, and putting energy into wearing things you actively like and projecting an ideal of yourself through fashion instead of seeing clothes as things you have to put on out of obligation helps.
It also can give you a sense of control over your appearance that you otherwise wouldnโt have lmao
