Could you tell us about riv shirley? It sounds interesting
I answered some here but wanted to wait until I had a new clip to share to answer this. I shared a bit and then talking with the wonderful @tenderhooked about it has helped immensely move it from mostly vibes to some coherence of a story.
I'll put another clip below the cut:
Shirley Dander was pissed. Lamb was going to be even more pissed at the pair of them. Likely more at River than Shirley–the old spook didn’t actually like any of them, but seemed to have a soft spot for hating River in particular–but Lamb had attempted to fire her more than once. Well, he succeeded at least once. Now, tied to a chair with only an unconscious River Cartwright for company, Shirley was starting to think maybe she should have stayed fired because as much as she wanted to get loose and kill each one of these fuckers, the blood seeping into her sleeves from the cuts the restraints had caused was making it seem a bit of a lost cause. But once they freed her, which they would eventually, and then she would kill each and every one of them. Hopefully. There were a lot of them, as far as she could tell. There could be more. She had seen six for sure. And it was just her and River. Well, probably more likely just her. River wasn’t looking too fit for service at the moment. River didn’t look fit for anything other than laying in a hospital bed. He was unconscious, having passed out from pain on the third hit of a wrench to his clearly broken hand and whatever other bones had snapped under the weight. Shirley had heard them snap. It would’ve been cool if it hadn’t been River. She was already fantasizing about turning the wrench around on the bastards holding them. Then it would sound really fucking cool. But for now she was stuck tied to a fucking chair watching River’s chest rise and fall unevenly and hoping it continued to do so.
hear me out, we joke about the 118 having bets on when buddie is getting together, mainly hen, chimney, bobby + extended family. but what if b-shift is in on it. they somehow have a whiteboard at the firehouse. a-shift writes normal memos on it. as soon as they all leave, someone dramatically flips it and bam! there's a whole detailed timeline trying to figure out what buck and eddie are to each other, red string and everything. there's multiple theories, some right, some wrong. at the start of each shift they brainstorm. ravi has the task of arriving early to see if buck and eddie leave together or not. someone knows lena bosko and they call her for details. she tells them about the grocery store fight. they move up the divorced theory on the board. at the end of the shift they flip it back around and nobody ever notices even though there's obviously red string hanging from the bottom.
"what's a male acting performance where he's having the worst day of his life but looks so hot doing it" oooooh you mean Jake Gyllenhaal in Prisoners. You mean Detective Loki from Prisoners. You mean the single most absolute babygirl ever, from Denis Villeneuve's 2013 masterpiece, Prisoners. Portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal. You mean him.
@spiralwaves Progress update on the "In Imago Diaboli" fanbind!
After weeks struggling with the typeset (note to self: never think "ahh, this is going so easily!" during a creative project because. that's just asking for trouble 😅 ), I finally got it to print more-or-less nicely... ignoring the printer skew, lol. Ah well! We're out of the typesetting and into the fire, or something, heh.
current fan creation landscape is kinda like if you went to a party with a homemade cake and everyone takes a slice and silently thumbs up at you with no attempt to start a conversation except for occasionally some guy sits in the corner with a tape recorder critiquing the cake as though he was a restaurant critic and another guy is handing the cake to an uber driver like "yeah i need you to find a restaurant that makes cake like this so i can have more of it" and the only person that's talked to you in 30 minutes is a very sweet little guy who was like "hey i liked your cake" and then ran away apologizing for bothering you the moment you said thank you.
If you use these in another platform, please, GIVE CREDITS!!!

This might be my favorite bind so far! Definitely my most ambitious. It's for the buddie fic "What's love got to do with it?" By ColorMeParanoid on AO3.
@color-me-paranoid If you see this I love this work so much. I stumbled upon it while doom-scrolling the buddie tag, binged it in like two days and was like whelp guess I've found my next big bind. I also included the other work in the series as an epilogue!
I'm so happy with the cover design. The lovely line art was made by @missmists. It looks so great and matches the inspo pics so much better than my original design. The cover is supposed to be reminiscent of the Tina Turner movie posters for "What's Love Got to Do With It?" I love that the hearts are the same shape as the lips in the original poster! That was such a cool idea!
I think the application of the vinyl gave me brain damage, I can not say this with enough vitriol, fuck Cricut brand vinyl, specifically the foil iron-on. If the heat is where the instructions say it should be it NEVER transfers, and if it's too high, the plastic leaves residue all over it and looks terrible (especially on white leather) I Had to entirely scrap the first try, wasting materials makes me want to die.
This is the first full-size bind I've done with faux leather, It was a learning process to get the heat press to not leave marks. But by the second try, I think I had it down.
This is the longest fic I've bound in a single volume, and I've been trying new techniques, and it resulted in the cleanest text block I've done so far. No swell at all! Look at her, ain't she pretty!
The next step is to go even bigger!

🗂️ Import moaaaaar!
Some writers have already imported more than 100 docs into Ellipsus. 🤯 We respect the commitment, so we’ve shipped some improvements to streamline the process. With these updates, you can: Import multiple Markdown files at once, import files directly into a folder, or import files without automatically opening them in Ellipsus.
🗯️ Comments that pop
The Ellipsus crew are long commenters. Suggestions, links, musings, memes… we jam it all in that little input field. And my goodness, trying to communicate so much without line breaks or rich text was fucking painful. Not anymore! Rich text comments are here! Decorate your comments with bold, italics, lists, links, and more. (And soooo many line breaks.)
