How do I bring up a setting in a story? I find it kind of difficult somehow đ Btw I love your blog, it really helps me.
The setting is the place where your story unfolds, but its importance to the overall story can vary. Some settings can be thought of as so important theyâre almost a character in the story. Other settings just serve as background detail, having limited or superficial impact on the story. But regardless of which kind of setting you have, itâs important to work it into the story so that your reader is always aware of it, even if only vaguely. But how do you do that?
1) Flesh out your setting before you write.
Even if youâre not a planner, you should have some idea of what your setting will be and what itâs like before you start writing. One thing that can help a lot is to choose some inspiration for your setting. If youâre writing about a fictional town, for example, you might choose a real town (or a few) to serve as inspiration for your setting. Having a real place to pull ideas from can help the setting form more fully in your imagination. Even if youâre writing a fantasy setting, there are many real life places that can serve as inspiration, plus lots of fictional ones as well.
2) Do a scene list with setting information.
Itâs much easier to think about setting when you know exactly where each of your scenes will take place. When you write out a scene list, you can jot down a few notes about the setting in that scene. Think about things like where it is, what time itâs taking place, and ways in which your characters might interact with the setting during the scene.
3) Imagine yourself in the scene.
One of the easiest ways to think about setting when you write a scene is to imagine yourself in your characterâs shoes. What elements of the setting can they see during the scene? What can they hear or smell? What do they touch or interact with? For every part of the scene you write, consider these questions and incorporate the details into the scene.
4) Use setting to establish and conclude a scene.
Next time youâre watching a TV show, pay close attention and youâll notice when a new scene begins (either after a scene ends or a commercial break ends), youâll often see an exterior shot of the house, building, restaurant, park, school, etc. This is called an âestablishing shotâ and itâs used to establish where the scene is taking place. It also lets the viewer know things like time of day (which might tell them if time has passed since the last scene), weather, and other important details. You can do something similar in your story by establishing the scene with information about the setting, time of day, weather, and any other details that may be relevant to the story. You donât need to talk about these things to establish every scene, but theyâre often relevant or helpful. Take a few books off your bookshelf and flip through a few chapters. See if you can identify the paragraphs that establish setting. See if you can find similar paragraphs that conclude a chapter.
5) Read, read, read.
As always, the best way to learn how to write is to make sure youâre reading a lot, and to make sure youâre paying attention to the things you want to learn. If you want to learn how to weave setting details into your story, pay attention to how your favorite authors do it in their books. :)
I keep seeing people reposting Azeru's patreon audios to tiktok, so how about yall stop doing that, because news flash, this is how content creators get in trouble cause idiotic parents will blame the creator for the audios that SHOULD be behind a fucking pay wall to prevent minors gaining access to it. For fucking once can people respect content creators? Those of you reposting those kinds of audios are gonna end up ruining it for the rest of us who 1: don't repost and 2: actually pay for the content that's supposed to be behind a pay wall. I've seen shit happen to too many creators who's audios get reposted before I could even pay for them myself (used their audios that they posted to youtube instead). So let's try and respect content creators who work hard to make this content instead of stealing from them hm? Bare minimum and yall can't even do that.
hiđ i don't know how to caption my shit

After almost a year after not seeing him you hadn't let him cross your mind for your own good. You knew that if you let him slip into your head... He'd plague your heart again too. When you had forced him away that night it had hurt your heart as badly as a breakup. It kinda was wasn't it?
You had forced yourself to move on and forgot about the boy with the cobalt eyes and the breath taking smirk.
It had only been three months since you and Hawks had made things official. All it took was one social media post about the two of you and the drama started to roll in. Something you weren't personally a fan of. Being a pro hero meant you'd have all eyes on you already, but being a pro hero couple? That was a breeding ground for rumors and bullshit you had never signed up for. Not to mention, he wasn't entirely there majority of the time. You found that every time you kissed the messy haired blonde you found yourself wishing for those scarred lips that now plagued your heart with pain. You had wondered if Hawks had remembered your old playmate. You never brought it up. His name bitter on your tongue.
When you had woken up next to the crimson winged hero one morning you felt sick to your stomach. You never wanted it to be like this. So, you left without a word or a note.
Your walk of shame that morning to your apartment was something you'd never forget. You couldn't understand why you hated this all so much... Yet, you knew exactly why.
He just wasn't Touya. You wanted Touya.
You pushed down the thoughts as you tried to swallow the terrible taste in your mouth. When you got home you were greeted by the sound of a bottle breaking. You guessed dad was in another mood before turning back out the door and heading to the nearest bar. Day drinking wasn't really your thing, but after today it might as well be.
Sad fact is... Now even after the sun had set you were still in your seat. The normal nightly patrons came and went. You were tired of being there and payed your tab before heading out and taking the alleyway to get home faster. You looked at your phone with all the messages from Hawks. 54 missed calls? He never called. 13 texts of him saying "Hello?". He should have taken the hint.
Your thoughts cut out and we're intruded by the sound of coughing. Suddenly a blue light shine from the corner.
Your heart stopped as you stared at him. When his eyes met yours all of the pain and emotions wash away. You felt your lips curl into a smile.
"Hey doll, I was just on my-"
You ran into his arms as you held him tightly.
"Don't leave me again... I need you with me."
You heard his heart speed up as he slowly wrapped his arms around you.
"I promise I won't." His voice was incredibly soft.
You let the tears fall. You wanted them to fall. You missed him. When you finally got the strength to pull back you were greeted by his bright cobalt eyes almost shining as they stared at you.
"I love you Y/N"
You stared at him and smiled brighter before pulling him into a kiss. The feeling of his scarred lips was something you had only dreamed about. And they were exactly what you wanted. What you had dreamed for. Neither of you pulled away anytime soon. By the time you had broke for air his hands were holding your waist close to him.
"I love you too. Don't leave again... Please. I don't want to lose you again. It hurt so bad Touya. I just-"
He put one of his long fingers to your lips.
"I get it baby doll. I'm not mad. I understood why you said what you did... But a hero shouldn't be in love with a Villian."
You frowned. "I don't want to be a hero knowing you are a villian..."
That's all it took for a grin to show on his face.
"Then I have a place for you... Right with me..."

I beg your pardon!?
Iâm seeing a disturbing amount of posts here claiming that people are not finishing their antibiotics (or not carrying on with their doctorâs intructions) in an attempt to âsaveâ their antibiotics for later use.
If your doctor says to take your medicine for 2 weeks, take it for 2 weeks.Â
Not finishing a course of antibiotics properly means the bacteria are not all dead. They may come back and youâll have to do a full course again.
Furthermore, not finishing a course contributes to the rise of resistant bacteria, because you havenât killed all of the bacteria that were making you ill and they can now mutate to become resistant to antibiotics. Your illness could come back, but this time, it wonât be treatable with the same antibiotics.
