- He hates loud noises like thunderstorms (idk if you can get something like that in space but) he flinches and starts to shake a lil when he hears them.

- He loves history, he doesn’t let anyone know it, so you’d be lucky to know.

- He likes to come in and check on his captain while they’re sleeping once in a while.

- He would be a good caretaker if you were sick or feeling down. He’d get you some supplies and he’d know exactly what to get.

- When he’s done his tasks for the day, he has a spot where he likes to stare out the bridge window and look at the stars.

I think this is my absolute favourite scene in WALL-E. I love how the Captain goes from a neglectful and lazy character to a determined leader. He finally takes off the blindfold that’s being pulled over his eyes all these years and wakes up. The way the camera is angled so we’re looking up at him to show he now has authority. The way he says “we have to go back”. He’s so sure and determined and he finally makes the biggest decision for humanity. He knows that Earth is where we belong. Otherwise, they would have been floating aimlessly further into space forever, and Auto would still have the reigns. I find that quite unsettling. Further into the scene, I love how we hear a slight change in Auto’s tone that makes us wonder if he has feelings. He sounds panicked and he jumps when he sees Wall-e come out of the garbage chute like he’s shocked. He says “no” a couple times when faced with defeat. I adore the part when the Captain goes onto his mini rant about going home. There’s so much emotion and it makes me love the Captain more. It must be so frustrating for him because it’s like talking to a brick wall with Auto. And the music oh my God. I listen to “Directive A-113” all the time. It creates an uneasy atmosphere at first but then fades into a mixture of hopelessness and then hope and determination. It’s fantastic what Thomas Newman did. The way my heart races when the Captain turns away and looks at the other portraits of the previous Captains and sees Auto’s been there all along and slowly positioning himself closer with each portrait to portray him taking control of the ship over the years. The Captain glances down for a moment in realisation, and then Auto slowly lowers himself right behind the Captain’s shoulder just like the last portrait. UGH I LOVE THIS MOVIE 🫶🏻
