@baguettiquette That's True. But If You Google Curly And Bushy Hair You Can Actually See Quite A Bit

@baguettiquette That's true. But if you google curly and bushy hair you can actually see quite a bit of difference between the picture with white and black people in it. There's even a picture of Emma during in The Philosopher's Stone and it looks just frizzy in comparison? But yeah, of course you can have all types of hair! @squeegeeyourthirdeye I have also never seen a black person with blue eyes but I do have an internet connection and the ability to type in any search engine. I would also like to point out that in I never said you had a problem with poc. You are getting defensive for no reason. I also only made one post about this subject, apart from answering you, so I would appreciate you not telling me to get over something that I started talking about ten minutes ago. I am very sorry if the fact that I feel like that the Harry Potter movies could've use more of a diverse cast, especially considering Angelina Jonhson was all but cut off completely and the origibal Lavender Brown was replaced by a white actress, makes you either uncomfortable or guilty, judging by your slightly condescending and defensive reponse (and I also apologize if I'm wrong about that aswell, but I can only form opinions based on the information available to me), but if you do like my stance on tgis subject you are more than welcome to stop interacting with me. We can't always agree with each other. I would also like to say that I have nothing against Emma. I think she did a brilliant job while being so young and inexperienced. I think she has a lot of traits that are very similar to Hermione's, personality wise, and that, as a person, she was probably one of the very best choices to play that character on screen. I'm only pointing out that she doesn't look like the Hermione I picture in my head when I read the books. And the fact that there's probably a lot of little girls out there that read the books and saw the same thing I did, girls that maybe wanted to see themselves represented in the HP universe, probably felt disappointed, that's kund of sad. So, no, I'm not going to "get over it". My cousins are just as deserving of that representation as your sister, except they almost never get that. Oh, and plays are not readily available to the public like movies are, you know. A lot less people have the opportunity to see them. I know my cousins haven't seen it.

All I'm seeing today is a different version of "if you don't personally get down to fight in this very mortal battle, not being a fighter at all and with no experience, you're a coward, you cowardly chicken you" and I don't get it. That's a really strong word. Surely if he was a coward, he wouldn't have set foot in an island with no easy means of escape (again, an ISLAND), a considerably smaller army and basically no claim to a rock in Wales, let alone the goddamn THRONE, to face a man who was everything he was not in the worse way possible (for Henry), to fight a battle everyone probably assumed he was gonna lose? Let's be real, that takes balls.

I don’t know if it’s just me but up until the sixth episode or so I thought Margaret Beaufort was just some crazy religious nuts... and then I started to kind of agree with her? ‘Till this day, I can’t tell if it is because she got better or everyone else got worse.

Some advice for dressmakers:

1. Pockets are a thing. 2. Breasts are a thing.

Leave room in your design for both.

is there anyone out there that takes alison weir seriously? alison weir is the alison weir of history, and that's never a good thing.

Tudor Book Recs; 2016 edition

so i definitely did not get as much tudor reading as i would have lived over all this year, but i decided i’d post some 2016 publications that may have gone a little under the radar, most of these i haven’t read but i hope to do so

Prince Arthur: The Tudor King Who Never was by Sean Cunningham: this one i did read, and i really liked it, as we all know arthur had a very short life and we really don’t know that much about it, mostly this book is discussing what arthur’s life and duty as prince of wales was like

The Temptation of Elizabeth Tudor by Elizabeth Norton: if you don’t hate thomas seymour by now you really will after this, this book goes into detail about the events of the summer of 1547/48 and how they would affect elizabeth for the rest of her life

The Rise of the Tudors by Chris Skidmore: this is a 2013 publication but i really, really liked it so i’m going to fit it in here, the best account i’ve read on henry vii’s rise to the throne, it explained henry’s ancestry and family background very well and gave the best portrait of henry as a young man

Henry VII: The Maligned King: i haven’t read this one but there are so few bios on henry vii that as soon as i can get my hands on it i will

The Lives of Tudor Women: elizabeth norton is probably my favourite tudor historian right now so i will recommend all of her books, she does her research she knows her stuff

Elizabeth: The Forgotten Years by John Guy: i doubt i’ll like this as much as lisa hilton’s biography of elizabeth but i also aim to read every elizabeth bio so i’ll go for it soon

So Great a Prince by Lauren Johnson: most bios on henry viii begin in the mid 1520′s when he meets anne boleyn, but henry had been king for over 15 years by then, the 1510′s are often an overlooked period of tudor history, mostly because everyone wants to get to 1525 and forgets that england was a very different place in the early years of henry viii’s reign

The Other Tudor Princess by Mary McGrigor: you may have noticed that alison weir’s book on margaret douglas is not here and i’m keeping it that way and given you another book on margaret douglas written by scottish historian mary mcgrigor and i haven’t read but i’m sure it’s better

Katherine Howard: The Tragic Story of Henry VIII’s Fifth Queen: now i am cautious recommending any book on katherine howard because there is so much trash out there and i’m doing this cautiously as well because i have not read this work yet i have my sources that it’s pretty good so i’m hoping it’s true

Didn't stop men from complaining about Orange is the New Black...

What I hate about Vikings is the idea that all of Aslaug’s sons, save Ivar (and slightly Ubbe) don’t want to avenge her due to her mistakes as a parent (Not even realizing their mother was physical and emotionally abused, and also very neglected which led to her neglect of them), and yet they’re all in favor of avenging Ragnar. Why? Cause Ragnar was father of the year? It’s not like he didn’t constantly abandon his family and was never content with his share in life. Why does Ragnar deserve to be avenged and Aslaug doesn’t.

I smell sexism.

@squeegeeyourthirdeye Yes, In My Tags I Said I Didn't Think There Wasn't Any White People With Bushy

@squeegeeyourthirdeye yes, in my tags I said I didn't think there wasn't any white people with bushy hair, only that I haven't met any. There are poc with green and blue eyes and blond hair, after all, there's no reason why the opposite couldn't also happen. It's just that that type of hair is a predominantly poc trait and there's no reason why they couldn't have cast a poc actress to play Hermione. Even more so after seeing how they completely gave up on having Hermione have her trademark hair after Chamber of Secrets. It's probably too much work to give Emma's hair a look that comes natural for poc women.
