I have a lot of favorites but I like Cater x Trey and Floyd x Riddle the most!!! Cater x Trey is super interesting because you’re taking a character who doesn’t let himself get better with a character who unintentionally tries to make people better and it honestly has so much potential, Cater by himself is already such an interesting character but pairing him with Trey just makes their dynamic 10x more complex and unique. Okay I know how weird it sounds when I first say I like Floyd x Riddle because I do agree it can be interpreted as “I fell in love with my bully gacha love story” but for me the interest is mostly with how unique they are as a pair, you’re taking Riddle, a character who doesn’t know how to not to take things seriously, with Floyd, a character who barely takes anything seriously, and their dynamic is so interesting to see. Riddle makes his disdain for Floyd very obvious and yet Floyd still sticks around because he finds him interesting. It’s also a huge learning experience honestly I feel like if Floyd and Riddle actually sat down and had a genuine conversation it would help them both a lot!!! Floyd seemingly has no sense of boundaries, at first I assumed he knew them he just didnt care, but as I looked into him it became pretty apparent that he seems to have some sort of problem picking up on social cues and boundaries I don’t think he can tell whether people mean something seriously or not unless they outright say so (You can not convince me he doesn’t have ADHD and/or Autism) Riddle seems to have very firm boundaries, but I don’t think he knows how quite to articulate them to others. If Riddle talked to Floyd about being better at communicating boundaries, and Floyd talked to Riddle about making boundaries then I think they could really thrive with each other !!! I have. many thoughts on Cater and Trey. most is of their dynamic in general, so it could be seem as either romantic or platonic really, but I totally agree, they are very interesting!
Cater and Trey have such nice characterization... I love to see them interacting with each other! Trey seems to consider Cater as a very close friend, especially since he's his fellow Heartslabyul junior who helps to deal with Riddle's outbursts (as seem in Trey's ceremonial robes vignette and in some of Trey's voice lines), while Cater tries to keep everyone, including Trey, at arms' distance due to his difficulty in making long lasting relationships because of his past. I also feel that Cater might try to be closer to Trey, but he knows he'll never be as close as Riddle or Che'nya, that know him since childhood (and deep down he's a bit jealous of them for having such a connection), so he doesn't try to open up much.
I really like this post in relation to that because when I was playing the Wish upon a star event I thought the same thing! the way Cater's wish is the only one with a cutscene... the way Trey is just musing to himself about Cater's persona and when he'll drop it, but doesn't outright call him out on it............ them...............
Trey might be the person that's closest to cracking Cater's mask and seeing his real self, not just who he wants people to see, but he's a little hesitant in doing so, waiting for Cater to open up more, while Cater waits for him to reach out first to know if he can fully trust him with this, something he's never had with anyone before. they are both in this deadlock where neither makes the next move, but there is a certain antecipation, like the calm waters just waiting for a storm to come.
and the thing that hurts most is that Trey already considers Cater his friend, while Cater isn't on this same page, he's still weary of making friends only for them to graduate and never see each other again. so. I like the angst potential. as you said yourself anon, individually they are already interesting, but together they become even more!

yes, I can see it!!! as I mentioned, their dynamic is very insteresting to me (mainly because it's comical) and there is a lot they could learn from each other if they actually tried to listen to the other and stopped pushing their buttons for the giggles. (yes Floyd I'm looking at you.)
their rivals to lovers vibe can be attracting if they respect each other's boundaries and care about their feelings! as you said, their completely opposite personalities combined tend to make for a very interesting pair!
I think Floyd may know some of land people boundaries and just not care (like when people clearly show they don't want to be squeezed but he does it anyway because he felt like it), but there are some he might not know too, as he's fairly new to this whole thing. YOU'RE SO RIGHT, Floyd is neurodivergent canon!!! and so is Riddle because I said so!!
their relationship would require a lot of communication to work out, as Floyd would have to actually listen to Riddle's boundaries and promise to not disrespect them simply because he felt like it. Riddle would also have to be patient with him and not let his temper get the best of him whenever Floyd doesn't do things the way he expects him to, as Floyd doesn't follow the rules like Riddle does. there would have to be a lot of maturity between them to work it out, but if they could get past their own eccentricities and reach a compromise I think there's a lot to be learnt from this experience!! not for them to change how they are at their core, but to learn to not lean on the excess, as Riddle could be a little more carefree at times and Floyd could be a little more serious at others. although for them to reach this point I think they'd have to trust each other and have an actual friendship first and foremost, as a foundation.

I have a lot to say but I didn't want to spam your notifications so I kept to the abridged version in the tags ksjdlskdksk well, since you're here I'll talk a bit more about my thoughts on it (under the cut), hope you don't mind ^^
I first read it before setting up my account actually and it stayed in my mind because you work very well with catching the readers attention and making them curious!! also, I loved your Jade characterization, how you describe his feelings of shock and his thought process, his opinions on humans, the way he tries to distance himself but can't, either due to his curious nature or the universe trying to play matchmaker (or both, who knows). I'm going to be honest and admit I don't like soulmate aus that much (dunno, the idea there's someone predetermined for u it's kinda suffocating ig) but this one got a GRIP on me. LITERALLY YOU MADE ME GET INTERESTED. I love love love how Jade tried to challenge that cliche within these types of aus of immediately throwing his things to the air to persue his soulmate, how he keeps his interests in mind first and foremost!! (although I did find very funny how Azul admited he would just abandon everything on spot)
at the end of the first chapter I was SHOCKED FLABBERGASTED STUNNED AT A LOSS FOR WORDS literally just stared at my phone for a while processing it because it was the LAST thing I'd have expected to happen. and immediately hurried to read the next part because I needed to know what would happen after that.
his inner thoughts on the beggining of chapter 2 made so much sense it was SO satisfactory!!! "A soulmate to him was this entirely new concept. He did not dream of someone filling him up with overflowing emotions. Jade wasn't empty." THIS THIS THIS it's soooo in accordance with his character.
The elective class made me curious to take it as well, honestly, Crowley please accept my enrollment letter I wanna be there too. The way he can't help but want to know the reader's name, so interested in them while they don't even know about him?? SOOO GOOD!!! the idea of him wanting to know reader's name is. so endearing. it's just an innocent interest you know?? him getting his hopes up about reader's beliefs and then being let down immediately WAS SO FUNNY, especially after they don't raise their hand on the soulmates one LMAO
him still thinking about reader's name makes me feel. some sort of way. imagine someone being so interested in you even your NAME becomes an object of interest??? I. I want it.
the opposites attract bit is SO TRUE that's what I think as well!! I'd love someone who compliments me well so we can share experiences and help each other grow! but I'd never be with someone whose core values are drastically different than mine.
also it's very funny that he thought of just. straight up telling the reader about what happened just to see their reaction. HIS HOPES GETTING UP AGAIN (even mine got up after the string reappeared) AND THEN HIM NOT WANTING THE STRING TO BE CUT? HIM STANDING TOO STUNNED TO SPEAK AFTER READER MENTIONS A BOYFRIEND?? THAT WAS. SO FUNNY, THE JADE HUMBLING you're so right I love him but sometimes he should be knocked down a peg. just for funsies
chapter 4 was actually really cute!! finally some interactions between the two! I was kind of surprised about reader lying, but more so about Jade noticing the flowers enough to know the meaning of them, which was also pretty endearing, in it's own way.
"Always. Always if they are connected to you. Perhaps he was the silly one. But you smiled. That was enough." SCREAMING SOBBING SHAKING SLIDING DOWN THE WALL
and. I'm so curious about chapter 5. will Jade finally learn reader's name? will reader discover about their soulmate connection?? will the red string come back??? this and much more in the next issue of A human myth of red, stay tuned!!

Immediately Riddle is suspicious that this is some kind of set up because really they only have 1 bed that somehow will fit 5 people but not 5 beds for each? Sus.
Anyways there’s no reason to bring this up or time because everyone is arguing where to sleep.
Riddle and Ace can’t be beside each other, they might kill each other in their sleep, and Riddle refuses to sleep by anyone who’s not Trey. Cater is filming the arguments.
It ends up with Riddle in the middle, as he is the smallest and less likely to get up in the middle of the night. He also eats only 800 calories a day and is underweight, so he won’t overheat like everyone else will because the middle is very toasty.
Deuce is to his left, then Ace on the edge. Trey is on the right and Cater on the other side. They all sleep on their backs. Well, try to sleep, since Ace and Deuce keep whispering/kicking each other and Cater is playing on his phone.
Riddle finally snaps at all of them to knock it off and then they go to sleep.
They don’t wake up the same way.
Somehow, Deuce has ended up in the center of the bed under the blanket, curled up around a pillow. Riddle and Ace are cuddling on the left side. Trey is in the same position but skewed a little and Cater is now splayed over him.
Cater snaps 37 pictures of Riddle and Ace and has not moved from laying on Trey.
Savanaclaw
Leona is not amused but Ruggie is. Jack is embarrassed.
They settle much easier than Heartslabyul did at least, since Leona doesn’t really care as long as he has his ~space~ and Ruggie is used to sharing a bed with others. Jack is a bit nervous but he’ll get over it.
They end with Leona on one side and Jack on the other, Ruggie in the middle. Ruggie lays on his back and the other two face the other direction.
Jack says goodnight and they both mutter it back.
Jack wakes up on the floor with his leg hurting because Ruggie kicks. Hard.
Ruggie has also taken over his spot on the bed, starfish style.
Leona is still somehow undisturbed but he does have more blanket than he started out with.
Octavinelle
Ah, how benevolent of Azul to let Jade and Floyd on the bed with him, how kind of him!
Actually it’s more like Jade and Floyd squished Azul between them before he could say he was just going to sleep under the bed, but details, details!
This isn’t really any different from back in the Coral Sea, where merfolks napping in the open would just curl around objects or each other not to float away in the current.
They had often taken quick naps while exploring or in Azul’s octopus pot so the closeness doesn’t bother them at all.
Azul is stuck in the middle, with Jade laying like a corpse on his left and Floyd clinging to him on the right.
Azul hates how good he slept that night.
Scarabia
It’s not that big of a deal to either of them. Kalim often slept in Jamil’s bed when he had bad dreams or his bed got soaked in blood from a would-be assassin, and Jamil sometimes slept in Kalim’s when there was a bug he couldn’t find and kill before bed.
Kalim says it’s a fun sleep over so they have to share the bed! Jamil is too tired to argue.
They settle in back to back and go right to sleep.
They wake up cuddling.
Pomefiore
Vil is appalled that such a grievous error could be made but Rook is quick to assure him that it is an honor to sleep beside such a glorious beauty like Vil. Epel wants to go home.
After being forced to endure a beauty routine he always claims he does, Epel finally says that he’s super tired and wants to sleep. Vil agrees, beauty sleep is important.
Rook insists he’s in the middle, which is fine because Epel thinks the temptation to smother Vil in his sleep might be too much to ignore.
They wake up with Rook is clinging to Vil like an octopus and Epel is embarrassingly holding Vil’s hand.
Ignihyde
This isn’t a big deal to either of them, as they are brothers.
Also Ortho is a robot who does not need a bed to sleep. Idia is a gamer who does not sleep.
Idia plugs Ortho in and spends the night on his phone playing gacha rhythm games like the loser he is.
Diasomnia
Welp, this happened.
Sebek is Offended Horrified someone would make such a grievous error when booking rooms.
Silver is already passed out on the floor, which also makes Sebek yell louder.
Neither Lilia or Malleus care. At all.
Lilia picks up his sleepy son and tucks him into bed before flopping down beside him. Malleus lays beside Lilia.
Sebek then passes out when he realizes the only spot left is beside WAKASAMA.
Lilia also puts him in bed then digs out his game to play. Malleus doesn’t sleep but he does lay down for the whole night because as it turns out Sebek and Silver are cuddlers and it’s nice to be wanted.

The Diasomnia Coven isn’t really a coven at all (if it was, it’d beat out Pomefiore as the oldest) - it’s a small group of vampires living just on the edge of the barrier between worlds, an offshoot of the realm where most of the true vampires reside. The future keeper of all vampires has been in mourning for thousands of years, and the others keep watch over him while maintaining a balance between both the realms. There is an abandoned village with a forgotten and decimated stone castle, miles and miles away from any humans, where they reside. The mourning keeper insists there are memories that play within the village when the circumstances are just right…
Nobody knows much about these vampires, and very few humans know they exist. They’re a sort of urban legend among the vampires though, both turned and true vampires whispering every little detail they have about the mysterious brethren living in an untouchable forest. Legend says that the Diasomnia vampires are more powerful than even most vampires within the vampire realm, and they’re awfully shrewd, too. Rather than hunt humans, they trick any who dare come close to their cursed forest to follow them to their lair, where the human is then hypnotized and used for a food source until they die. If vampires ever have to tread near the forest, they always go on an empty stomach, hoping to reduce their chances of being swept away. Many do not return.
…This is all a fabrication, of course. (These vampires just like to play a few good-natured tricks, and the vampires die often in the forest because they purposely deprive themselves of food and there are no humans around.) The truth is much more sad, and is halting the progress between the realms as well as endangering the balance of magic. But vampires are stubborn, and it’s hard to shake a man from mourning when condemned himself within sorrow for eternity.

Ortho used to watch them with Idia as a kid so it's a Bonding Experience TM between them. HELPPP ROOK ADMIRING THE BEAUTY OF THE SHITTY SPECIAL (D)EFFECTS. Ruggie would NOT shut up ever he'd joke about every single thing you can't pay attention to it at all from how hard he's laughing. Floyd is also laughing so hard you can't help but laugh along!
Idia would want you to pay 100% of your attention to it and pause to explain all the little references or things mentioned in the director's cut special limited edition
Jade and Malleus would see the most grotesque gore possible on screen and be like "wow human culture sure is interesting"
Sebek gets scared with the sound effects too so even if he's not looking at it directly he still jumps whenever someone screams LMAO that's why he does whatever he can to avoid being roped into a horror movie marathon

“You know, I’m kinda surprised you actually had time to come here with me, Ruggie,” your perplexed voice spoke as you and the Savanaclaw second year made your way atop a rolling hill adjacent to the woods of NRC’s campus to watch the sun descend from its place in the horizon. It had been a few hours since classes at the prestigious school had ended. Students were seen waving their final goodbyes of the day while they briskly hustled back to their respected dorms—some more hurried than others—as they attempted to beat the curfews their housewardens had set for them. The creatures and little critters of the woods scurried into their homes as well, awaiting the inevitable arrival of the owls and crickets to emerge from their spots within the forest under the pinkish glow of the sky above. You and Ruggie, however, headed the opposite way of everyone around you like two birds flying against the wind’s incessant direction and approached a grass-filled valley in search of a quiet area where you could relax in each other’s presence with no interruptions.
Ruggie curiously turned to you, with the vibrant colors of the setting sun creating a colorful halo around the said boy with every movement he made, “Why wouldn’t I?”
“Well, you’re always running around NRC, Leona this, Leona that and all,” you stated while swaying your head from side-to-side, seemingly emphasizing your words. “And with Crowley putting his weight onto me as well, we never really have time to ourselves these days.”
The hyena-like beastman guided you to an open spot on the hill and sighed as he sat down and recalled the small, odd errands the both of you did each day. “Yeah… they’ve all been a real pain, haven’t they?” The sounds of an awakening night owl sang throughout the open hill as the boy beside you paused, appearing to be basking under the sky’s tranquil shades of pink, orange, and red across the world’s atmosphere. He filled his mind with thoughts of the many responsibilities you both had, slightly envying the people who had a little less on their plate. “But we should at least have a right to spend some mindless time together, right?” Ruggie began to speak once again, capturing your attention, “Leona’s fine taking his little princess nap. You’re nicer to be around, anyway."
“Aw, you love me, Ruggie?” you jokingly asked as you poked the side of his stomach, earning yourself a look of surprise from the young man.
“Well, that’s not exactly what I said but—”
“That’s so adorable of you, hehe~”
The beastman, growing annoyed at your coddling, tried to reason with your playful self. “Now, wait a second, (Y/n)—”
“Ruggie’s so cute~”
“Yeah, and so what if I’m in love with you?” Ruggie retorted as he smoothly took a hold of your startled figure and peered directly into your glowing eyes, determination and vexation striking his tone. “Is that so wrong? And stop tryna tease me, will you? If any other Savanaclaw student sees, I’ll never hear the end of it.”
Stunned for a moment, you looked at the second year in amazement at the swiftness of his confession. Your cheeks grew a pastel tint as a fluttering warmth flooded your senses. With an erratic pounding in your chest, your heart quickened its pace in excitement at the way Ruggie had impulsively admitted his feelings towards you. His directness surprised you. A flustered feeling then began to bubble within your body.
“Wait…” a wary voice uttered from your form. “Did you just say that you love me? Like love love?” you giddily asked.
“Y..es? I think that’s what I said,” Ruggie had replied, almost embarrassed by your conversation, “but still don’t tell anyone just yet. They’ll make a big deal outta it, and I’m not sure if I’m ready for a stampede of their comments yet.”
“Pfft— Fine.” Scoffing at his words, you attempted to brush away the forming butterflies in your stomach as you created a pact by holding out a childish pinky for Ruggie to lock onto. “It’s our little secret, alright?”
