Osamu may have spent the entirety of his paycheck on flowers and chocolates for his beautiful lover. You can’t blame him, really, anyone would do the same. Still, it’s rather impressive seeing him haul up all the random gifts and snacks and roses and tulips and- oh you get the idea- hauling all of it up to your door with a wide smile on his face.

It was three trips down the stairs till he got it all up, and he’d gotten enough candy to last you a year, and before you knew it every window and surface was littered with flowers. And when you asked him why he spent all his money on you, he’d shrug and tell you that it’s better spent on you than him. He swats away your worries and concern with a smile though, because he wouldn’t want his pretty ‘belladonna’ frowning on such a ‘romantic and ardently fanciful day’

You're reliable. That's how Dazai settles on describing you when he first started to get to know you at the ADA. You didn't have an ability (which was surprising to say the least) and you weren't as gifted as Ranpo, yet you were still reliable.

Reliable in the sense that no matter what fight you and the others were put through, you would always come back alive with everyone else intact and breathing. Not a single hair harmed on their heads.

You're reliable. Reliable in the sense that he didn't have to worry about you dying along the way. You're reliable in a way that you'll still be alive if he focused on something else before focusing back on you.

You're reliable because he knew you wouldn't die like everyone else.

But ... just because someone is reliable doesn't mean they get into trouble, too.

You pressed down on your wound. Eyes focusing and unfocusing as your blood kept gushing between your fingertips.

It won't stop, you thought, shit!

You looked behind you at Rokuzo. One second later and he would be the one with the bullet wound instead of you. But... you made it in time, right?

Though, before you could look at the one who shot the gun in the shadows, Dazai placed a hand over yours and pressed down too. The action surprised you. Your eyes glancing over at him. His face looked... distraught. His jaw clenched. His hand that was over yours felt cold, and there was a slight tremble in his hold.

You raised your free hand to pat his head. His head snapped up to look at you, at the way you were smiling. His lips parted as if to say something, but you beat him to it.

"I'll be fine. Focus on her. Not me."

That's right... you're reliable, aren't you?
