Unstoppable aura
I hope they do group therapy together
Next to the lyrics from ‘I’ll Get You’ is a note from Mimi to John, telling him she is going out for an hour : which begs the question; why is this note here? Let me rephrase; why has Paul included a note that tells us that that a young John and Paul had the house to themselves for an hour? And why, of all the media Paul could have chosen, is this accompanying a teenage declaration of love, which has, Paul helpfully tells us ‘some schoolboy humour’ about ‘I’ll get you in the end’ . (Sorry, I can’t sense his tone. Is he talking about trying to get a chaste kiss or bum sex)
Ok now I have more questions; why has Paul held onto this note for 60 years.. it’s not even a memento of his family. There’s no scribbled lyrics on the other page. The ‘explanation’ of the lyrics talk about Mimi and Mendips, but surely he has something better than *this* to illustrate her character?
I mean… it’s almost like, maybe, I don’t know, something happened for the first time during the time that they had the house to themselves , and Paul being the sentimental and horny romantic he is, has decided to keep this as a memento, and it works perfectly next to a song about chaste kisses. Or ahem, something something getting your end away.
Side note: John sings the beginning of this to Paul in Get Back! ‘Imagine I’m in love with you/it’s easy cause I know’
John and Paul as tweets, made by me.
sorry, not sorry, about the last one 🤭
John and Paul // The Weight by Linda Gregg
“When we sang together,” Lennon told Mintz in one of their conversations, “Paul and I would share the same microphone. I’d be close enough to kiss him. Back then, I didn’t wear me specs onstage – Brian Epstein said they made me look old. So we’d be playing these concerts, in front of thousands of people, but the only thing I could see was Paul’s face. He was always there next to me – I could always feel his presence. It’s what I remember most about those concerts.”
