Asmo: Mammon, your advice didn't help at all!

Asmo: THAT'S BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FOLLOW YOUR ADVICE!!! BUT YOU'RE THE DIRECTOR SO IT'S STILL YOUR FAULT!!!!

The fact that this seems to be an Asmo focused lesson is awesome. Also, we're learning that Asmo doesn't know how to be himself or express who he really is on the inside and thus only can express himself through aesthetic and physical, outside means, is pretty. Idk I feel like that explains some things.

Asmo represses everything about who he might be inside because he can't control that stuff as much. The idea that someone doesn't want to see him being beautiful, cares about what's inside, that that's something he should show to be loved, he's completely skeptical about it. He doesn't believe Mammon when he says it--and even if he did he doesn't know how to express the Asmo inside or, hell, even the Asmo outside that isn't just the most attractive being there is. He can't follow the advice because he doesn't think that that's what anyone wants to see and thus he never learned to show or express that.

Even earlier when Belphie asks if he's okay he brushes it off with a smile--bring unhappy isn't attractive, being worried isn't attractive, people won't love him if he has concerns and feelings. He has to be confident and people can't know he has problems.

He understands how relateable that can be when it's others but he sees the expectations for himself as different. So he doesn't show anything less than perfect--except his perfect is so apperance based he hides any feelings or individuality that isn't expressed by his looks deep in his walk-in closet in a locked chest behind the strongest magic barrier he could get Solomon to make for him.

Hell, in the Proud Brothers Devilgram he wants to hide his brothers' quirkiness and oddities from Solomon lest they reflect poorly on him and tries to only present them as cool, powerful demons. He wants him to meet his family but his family is full of weirdos--if they're seen Solomon will think he's weird too. And he can't have that.

Basically he probably doesn't realize it right now but he's the worst kind of perfectionist and his own harshest critic. And he presents himself in such a way that there isn't a personality to judge--because if there's nothing to fault he cannot have faults.

It's pretty sad when you get down to it. I'm looking forward to seeing him sort it out.

A secret memo from Lucifer:

1. Do NOT dare MC to do anything. Time and again it’s come to show that they WILL do literally anything you dare them to.

2. Do NOT tell MC that the house of lamentation has secret passageways, they will eventually find them and then we’re all in trouble.

3. Don’t allow MC to wander the forest in our backyard alone. If the soul sprites find them, it’s over, MC would absolutely follow them and we’re never seeing them again.

4. If MC is at RAD, one brother should know where they are at all times, the last time they were unsupervised, the culture club took them to the highest turret to show where students used to be suspended by their wrists as punishment.

5. Asmo; stop encouraging MC to get kidnapped, it is not romantic and no it never “turns out like in the movies”. 

6. As a continuation, Belphegor, stop trying to get MC kidnapped by saying “you should beat your kidnapped record from last month”.

7. Mammon, stop taking MC to the casinos so they can be your distraction piece. Also, STOP BETTING MC AND YOUR OTHER BROTHERS AS PART OF THE WAGER. I do not care how much better you gamble when they’re at risk, STOP IT.

8. Belphegor, stop telling MC the stars look better from the roof, you know there is no railing up there and  it’s lucky Beel was there last time to grab them since Solomon kept yelling “DO A BACK FLIP”.

9. Satan, please hide your most dangerous spell books in plain sight. The more you try to put them in obscure or dark places, the more MC wants to read them.

10. Levi, MC can’t hold their breath as long as you so please stop taking them to the lake to try to show them the underwater city until we buy them proper diving gear.
