Time travel Sirry

This is definitely my guilty pleasure. Sirry feels very taboo at times, (especially if you have a Marauders background lol), but god I love it. Their dynamic is usually so explosive and breath-catching, ughh. The yearning, the anger, the trauma!

Anyways, here are some of my favorite time travel fics. If you’re new to the ship I’d recommend starting with Chained, you’ll be hooked in no time.

✨ and I Looked Back on a Broken World / 183k / “This is the most stupid thing you’ve ever done!” Hermione yells after Harry. Then she blinks. They’re no longer at Grimmauld Place and, sitting huddled together on a familiar four-poster bed with red hangings, are four teenaged boys, staring avidly at them. Well, this is just brilliant, she thinks. “And you didn’t even get the year right!”

Or: the one in which Harry is done with the war and thinks it’s time he got something he wanted for a change. He misses his godfather, goddammit.

Hermione’s and Harry’s friendship is top-tier. Plus, I’ll always have a soft spot for Harry interacting with the Marauders. Must read.

✨ Chained / 66k / Harry accidentally time travels to 1979, where he gets captured by the Order of the Phoenix. There's a catch — from the moment they set eyes on Harry's Dark Mark, they despise him.

“Finally awake… Death Eater?” the man spat spitefully.

Harry never would have imagined meeting like this.

The words “I can explain” were stuck on the tip of his tongue. But all that came out was a soft, strangled, “Sirius.”

The Sirry fic by excellence. Simply mind-blowing. If you’re gonna read any of these fics, let it be this one.

✨ The Man Out of Time / 23k / Harry gets hit with a piece of the veil, and falls into Sirius's past. And back again.

Loosely inspired by The Time Traveler's Wife.

I loved the dynamic between Harry and Sirius. It’s pretty different from other Sirry fics, which I enjoyed a lot. Plus, the drama? Cheff kiss.

✨ Time Turned Back / 182k / Broken and angry after losing Sirius fifth year, Harry recklessly puts himself in harms way, dragging Hermione along for the ride. Now they are stuck in another time with some all too familiar faces. Will the time with lost loved ones heal Harry or end up doing more damage?

✨ The Laws of Defence / 60k / The one where Harry gets sent back to 1977 to finish off Voldemort before he could get started, but he didn’t anticipate having to mark homework in between hunting horcruxes. Again.

✨Shattering Timelines / 80k / After realizing the war destroyed almost everything he ever cared about, Harry sets out to find a way to go back in time to save his family and fix it all. Even if it means destroying his timeline in order to protect his family.

✨ dogged / 11k / "I'm handsome," Sirius says, hugging his pillow in the dark. "I'm smart. I'm strong. I'm charismatic. I have experience with tons of people, who wanted to shag me and liked me a lot. I defend him, I admire him, I've been nice to Sniv-- Snape, lately--"

James groans. "Go the bloody fuck to sleep!" Peter, the lucky sod, is dead to the world and lets out a loud snore.

"I need Professor Evans to give me a chance," Sirius continues. "I could be so good for him. He needs someone like me. He's so--" Sirius yelps as a Stinging Hex hits him in the face from the direction of Remus' bed

✨ Better im the Morning / 20k / When Harry sacrifices himself to protect the ones he loves most, Voldemort's Killing Curse sends him hurtling back in time to 31 October 1981, but he arrives too late to save his parents. A grieving Harry decides to rescue Sirius Black from a future of misery and imprisonment and brings Sirius to hide in the Hut-on-the-Rock.

Momentarily, Harry and Sirius try to forget all that they've lost.

I’ve fallen so stupidly in love with these characters over the past year, it’s crazy. No matter how many new characters appear, how many ships become fan’s favorites, how many times writers decide that Ron was a horrible friend, that Hermione was better off without her boys, that neither of them deserved Harry. Now matter how many years pass, I’ll continue loving these three with the same intensity.

They are human and so impossibly imperfect, but they try their best. They try to be there for each other even when their personalities clash, when they don’t understand the other’s motives. To forgive each other when they fuck up, to console and provide comfort when times are dire. To protect, and defend at any cost. I adore every fic that explores their dynamics and the complex interactions between them.

I adore them. Just them.

✨ You cannot save people, you can only love them / 51k / Upon returning for Eighth Year, there are so many strange things going on with Malfoy, Harry doesn’t know where to start. He won’t talk to Harry, but he’s talking to ghosts. He won’t apologize for his past, but the Black Family tapestry has crossed him off its tree. And the worst of it all, he still has that infuriating, snotty mouth on him that gets Harry’s dick hard as a rock drives Harry insane.

✨ In Evidence of Magical Theory / 43k / When a hex meant for Draco accidentally catches Harry as well, they're forced to learn to understand each other in ways they previously might have thought impossible.

In which Harry and Draco can't fight, so they fall in love instead.

✨ You And Me / 27k / When Harry sits down with Malfoy, he's really only looking for a reprieve from the constant stares and whispers. (Mostly.) What he gets instead are a series of strange events that lead to a friendship that is something else, questions that nobody knows how to answer, and the realisation that the person that Harry doesn't know how to hate, anymore, seems to be the person who knows exactly what he needs.

A story in which everything is complicated. And yet, somehow, none of it is.

✨ You Look the Way I feel / 108k / Draco returns for his eighth year at Hogwarts in an attempt to salvage whatever he can of his future. His plan: sit as many N.E.W.T.s as possible, distance himself from the Malfoy name, and keep out of trouble. Of course, with his father on trial and at risk of unthinkable punishment, not to mention the anxiety-fueled "episodes" that have been plaguing him since summer, the school year doesn't go so smoothly. Especially when Harry Potter keeps seeking him out.

✨ Sex and the Art of Castle Maintenance / 14k / "Come on, boys," Zabini drawled. "You’re only delaying the inevitable."

Trouble always had a way of finding Harry, and eighth year was obviously going to be no exception.

✨ Hey, Potter / 16k / Harry returns to Hogwarts for his 8th year, determined not to let Malfoy get to him. But when the snarky teasing starts up again, Harry finds that returning the jibes with compliments has a far more interesting outcome.

✨ Mental / 186k / Harry has had quite enough of sharing his mind with someone else, thankyouverymuch. A miscast Legilimecy spell says otherwise.

✨ Nyctophilia / 107k / Everyone's back for 8th year, and Harry and his friends seem determined to spend their last year in school running around at night, hyped up on coffee and alcohol and Honeydukes candy, doing all the childish things they didn't have the chance to do before. Draco watches as he's always watched: from afar, quiet and bitter and hopelessly in love. That is, until Pansy decides she's had quite enough of it.

✨ Breathe Again / 64k / "It's a tough thing to admit, if only to himself, but sometimes Harry misses the old Malfoy, the one that used to taunt him at every turn."

After the war, a very different Draco returns to Hogwarts. Harry is determined to be his friend.
